The rest of them just has too varied a representation in doujin products to be able to consistently like them. Sanae wasn't particularly sadistic I thought...guess I should replay 12 to see Ah, replay with SanaeA. That's pretty much where most of the text that I'm referring to is. I think doujin productions have changed the personalities of a lot of Touhou characters. Still, at the very least, you have to love Chen. If you don't, just read some of bkub's stuff . I don't think I necessarily hate any particular Touhou.... Although I've seen so many representations of each Touhou that everything gets fuzzy and I just remember the rendition that I like the most Ah, SanaeA, never bothered with that because I am not particularly fond of Onbashira, the frog is way cuter We have to keep in mind that doujin productions also affect ZUN's decisions on how the characters will be like in the subsequent games though, Sanae's personality in 12 is pretty shaped by the doujins from TH10 and 11 days, we saw so little of her. The joke about common sense is going to persist for a long time though. Chen...never particularly had a thing for her, some doujins have pretty cute stuff, but she rarely takes a leading role. Yukarin gets amazing stuff though, other than Reimu and Sakuya, she probably gets the most coverage thanks to TH8 EDIT - Yeah, Extra is 1cc Normal or above. Lol if you play SanaeA... You'd be pretty surprised at her conversations. But yes, I agree that Suwako is just too cute. I never understood how pyonta came about though. People sure have some active imagination...
I thought that ZUN started drifting away from the fans? I remember reading something that mentioned that he's starting to get annoyed with the fanbase now (or something like that), and I think that Sanae's conversations in UFO was a clear departure from the "Good Sanae" theme that I found a lot in previous Sanae drawings.
I think my first affiliation with Chen came from Dan Kim. Green ranger... Then when I saw bkub draw her in more or less the same way (with the same joke)... Hahaha I couldn't resist but get caught up

YUSSS
Wait
It's released in 10 days already ? haha Ok, I need to start playing again a bit ...

The surprise to me here isn't that there is going to be another StB, but the fact that Reitaisai is so soon
Time flies ><

Dang it, ZUN, what about the Touhou games makes you think they need to be harder?
|
are these games like just curtain fire all day and cool designs, or is there a good story to it?

very limited stories
Stories aren't the main focus

But taking all the doujin content and stuff like that, there's quite a bit of story out there...

Well, doujin contents aren't particularly accessible for most, for all practical purposes, there is only the barebone story.

The one thing that never ceases to amaze me is both the fervor of the fan base (although that's true for many things...) and the extent to which Touhou has branched out far beyond from just the games. A million different portrayals of everything...

Maybe here I can finally get my question answered.
What the hell is Touhou?

It is a danmaku shooting game
from Touhou wiki:
"The Touhou Project is a series of 2D (with 3D background) vertically-scrolling danmaku shooting games made by Team Shanghai Alice, with three fighting game spinoffs co-produced with Tasogare Frontier. They are similar to regular shooting games, but focus more on weaving through complex patterns containing anywhere from dozens to hundreds of bullets. Every game in the Touhou series is set in the fantasy land of Gensokyo, and the series is known for its huge cast of characters, well-developed storylines, and related materials such as music CDs, fan-made comics and animated videos made to the music. "
You should give it a try, there are legal demos you can download from web, or you could buy full versions (not sure how many people here does that lol)
youtube video (mind you this is on hardest difficulty) last stage of the 10th Touhou game, Mountain of Faith + Show Spoiler +
edit:
whoa, just read that and...
"Every game in the Touhou series is set in the fantasy land of Gensokyo, and the series is known for its huge cast of characters, well-developed storylines, and related materials such as music CDs, fan-made comics and animated videos made to the music. "
am I missing something :x

Like said above, the "well-developed" part lies mostly in the doujin area, though one can argue that the settings provided in the extras for each game by ZUN is fairly comprehensive.
It is a Touhou wiki after all, thumping one's own chest, nothing more

I preordered Flandre as well :D

I would be willing to buy the Aya designed by Akai Ringo if the actual figurine turned out anything like the draft that was posted. Unfortunately that's like a Reitaisai only special.
I was amazingly tempted by something else too, but nothing is beating out the GSC Senjyogahara any time soon.
|
I wouldn't mind one but price D:
How much does ZUN make off the games and off the merchandise? Or at least on the rights to use his characters
He can only make so much off the games he sell, so if that is his only job I dunno if he can support himself with just that.
