Scarlett was the reason I got into Starcraft, so of course I'm sad, but I wouldn't want her to play if she wasn't interested in the game. I hope we can continue to see her here and there, and possibly for her to return for LotV. I think that's one of the saddest parts for me is that she's been around for 3 years so it makes sense... but I've only known her for 1, and missed most of her career. For me personally, it feels like she's leaving after only a year even though I know that's not true. I still hope to meet you one day anyway Scarlett, even though I'm not sure how not. gg

I would definetly like you to play occasionally without much pressure much practise that would be great really, we would like to keep watching you. Can you stream time to time if you are not going to compete too much? Please dont dissappear ![]()

If fucking Winter can make a living streaming, you can certainly make some money off it too ![]()

I guess it's up to you guys, cause I can keep playing in the occasional tournament even if I mostly stop playing, if you'd still want to watch my games despite that.. Let me know I guess I'll be honest; if you're not really into it anymore, I'd much prefer a clean break than having you just hang on for our sake. I'm a little curious about your wrist condition and how that factored in. Anyway, this is a youngster's game and pro gaming careers are rarely that long. From what I understand, you're going back to school as well, and combined with the other issues(losing motivation and ailing wrists) it seems kind of like the writing is on the wall. Do what you want Sasha, but do it because you want to, not for us. I'd likely always watch you play regardless, even though I've all but stopped following Sc2 at this point. Now for the brown-nosing: Whatever you do from here, you've accomplished more than the vast majority of foreigners and given us some truly memorable moments. I'm kind of a curmudgeon at times, but I can honestly say you made me care about this game far more than I ever would otherwise, and made me see Sc2 through the eyes of those with the deep, fiery passion of the hardcore fans, if only for a while. I've largely moved away from the game too, but my fondest memories will probably always be of your more spectacular performances; winning WCS NA, the red bull games, winning the NA tournament against Polt, there's a lot to choose from. For what it's worth; Thank you.

I guess it's up to you guys, cause I can keep playing in the occasional tournament even if I mostly stop playing, if you'd still want to watch my games despite that.. Let me know I guess Scarlett, my two cents... 1. You can't play for us, the fans, much as we would like that, you can only play for yourself, if you enjoy it and it's good for you. 2. Corollary to 1.: don't half-ass it, there's no point in that for you or anyone else. Go big or go home. 3. I've always believed, objectively speaking, you're one of the foreigners with the most raw talent to ever pick up a mouse in this game, and that reflects in that you have had one of the most successful careers in the foreign scene. If you were to retire today, you could leave in the knowledge that you accomplished a lot and your career has been an unqualified success. Yet I still believe you've never fully realized your potential, that your talent is still in some ways raw and unrefined. Partly that is because I don't think as a progamer you've ever had the access to the support that you need to get to the next level. I believe you have the potential and the talent to win a Premier tournament, and I think that you owe it to yourself to have one more proper go at it before you leave for good. 4. 2015 will be potentially the best year ever for foreigners. WCS has a $281,000 prize pool and $30K first prize with only a few Koreans. You know all your opponents, you've beaten them all, usually many times, and you just have to string that together into a winning run. And there are many other opportunities for you to win besides WCS. 5. You're bored, I feel you, I would be too. My advice: quit cold turkey, go on a trip, get some fresh air, sand and sunshine. Don't pick up a mouse for 3-4 months then see how you feel. You might find you start missing the APM spamming, the zerg rushing, the fans, and the rush of winning. 6. You know you can't do this forever. After you've had some time off to think, make a plan for how you want to finish your career. Set a goal, in my opinion it should be to go out with the big tournament win your career deserves. Target 4-6 tournaments including WCS that you think are winnable. Train intensely with a focus on your goal, and whatever happens you know there won't be any more after that. Don't do it for the fans, though we'll be here behind you all the way. Do it for the glory and a big pile of money!

Do it for the glory and a big pile of money! Gotta agree with this dude. Scarlett has raw, natural talent like no one's business. It'd be a shame to waste that. I've been thinking a little more about this situation and how most progamers go out like this, and I had some interesting thoughts that I don't know how to not sounds like an asshole saying, but here it goes. This applies for all progamers and not just Scarlett, I'm not just saying this as a fan but as a bit of career advice. You may not have a lot of interest left in Sc2 and progaming in general, it may feel like you're just grinding all day and it's becoming a job instead of a passion. But if you stop this, what are you gonna do? Go to school which is more of a daily grind than gaming, or go get a "real" job that's a even bigger passionless, interestless grind every day without option. It may seem like a rude thing to say, but if you can make money on this why wouldn't you do it for as long as possible? There's a lot of money up to grab for someone who can be as talented as Scarlett playing hardcore, it'd be silly to give that up. Again, I"m not saying you have to and I'm sure I don't know the full circumstance of Scarlett's case specifically, but all I'm really saying that is if this were me, after working a normal bullshit job, I'd run a fucking progaming career into the ground and then some, cause this is as good as it gets and it won't get better after this. If it's a matter of wanting an education, you can do that whenever. And starting a career later isn't as big of a detriment as some might think it is. I've known several people who didn't get out of school until they were 30 and they all landed good jobs. Scarlett is young, and has plenty of time to keep doing what she's doing now, or even take a break and come back and keep doing it. everyone needs a vacation. Just some thoughts, I think a different opinion might be interesting here. It's still of course your call scarlett. I just wanted to add some different perspective on this. Scarlett has a good job right now and makes pretty good money. Her options are very, very open right now. You're 21, you can do anything.

BUT i want to be a little bit selfish and say what many said before - whatever your decision will be please don't disappear also have you thought about streaming? I know you said that streaming is difficult for you and your internet in canada is not very good but maybe someday in the future? :o I'm not asking you to stream starcraft but what about dota or perhaps some other game where you can relax. I really enjoy watching pros(any pros really) play games that they are not playing professionaly. ;p

this felt like the right time to make a post. Usually I don't talk a lot but this seemed important. I have been a fan of Scarlett since WCS 2012. I simply liked her which doesn't sound like much but that's actually pretty rare for me^^ She has made me smile so much, I couldn't even begin to tell the stories but I am infinitely grateful for those. Now for my thoughts on retirement, I guess. Do whatever you want. What you really want. Playing 'part-time' doesn't sound like a good idea to me but it might work for you. If you want to retire I hope you will go out on a good note and not pull a Naniwa. Maybe do a celebratory stream from a place with a good connection (you can find one for that one time ![]() (*queue melancholic music*) Whenever you will actually go, I will be there and so will all the other shy people who admire you. We won't say anything but we will think the same as everyone else. Thanks for everything! I hope you have a great time after progaming. Goodbye. P.S.: Also, f you, if you don't retire now. I'll have to write the same sh*t again whenever you actually do retire. P.P.S.: Seriously though, <3 u always

I don't know how all you pro's manage it frankly. Hope you don't leave though! And memories like this; http://day9.tv/d/Day9/day9-daily-655-scarlett-vs-bomber-the-best-sc2-game-in-history/ I hope will bring you back for LotV! Assuming that is you decide to take a break in the first place. Feet up! Relax! And come out guns blazing for LotV beta maybe!
