It was clear from even before the match that neither player liked each other, I thought everyone knew that. And after vortix(unfortunately) handily beat naniwa, who is known for having a bad temper, he waltzes right over as the winner and try to make naniwa shake his hand. Why is it so hard to understand why naniwa wouldn't wanna shake his hand. "BUT WHAT ABOUT IN EVERY OTHER FUCKIN' SPORT IN THE WORLD", well in almost every other sport, the winner at least gives the loser some time to collect him self and cool down before any handshake is to speak of. It's just like in the latest movie by Tarantino "Django Unchained" + Show Spoiler + where DiCaprio is forcing Christoph Walz to shake his hand after forcing a really bad deal upon him at gunpoint. Please don't fuckin' come in here and try to be smart about this anymore. Our player lost and had a really bad day. Let us fans mourn for a bit. I though most of the anti-fans mostly hang out on reddit and that why I stay clear of that website but it seems that they are starting to have a strong foothold on TL as well. Anti-fans are really sad people, almost to the point that I feel sorry for them.

Clearly the bad PCs was to Naniwa as the bad air at the office is to me. It reduces your capabilities by a lot. And it frustrates you and when on top of that nobody understands it you want to just say screw it. I think it's a testament to Naniwa's stubbornness that he's still fighting to overcome these things and to be the best that he can be. About the handshake. Naniwa has admitted he gets really down after losing and I imagine he doesn't feel like being social right then. Just look at his reaction to Ohlen's hug at the price ceremony of DH a few weeks ago. It's not aimed at anyone, it's just how he is and I have a feeling that's why it's hard for him to even type in GG every time. Yesterday he did GG and that should be enough. I don't think Vortix meant any harm with his handshake attempt. It was probably Naniwa's GG that made him think "oh hey it's cool we can probably shake hands", not understanding that would be too much. So my guess is that it was good intentions on Vortix's part, but that doesn't mean that Naniwa was at fault for not being in the mood. All these social rules for how you're supposed to behave after having gone through an emotional rollercoaster such as an important game/match in any sports really... they fail to take into account that people are different. I think it's incredibly honest and brave of Naniwa to not pretend he's someone else. If people chose to get hurt over him not always following social rules made up by the hiveminded mass, it's their problem. Credit to Vortix for not being offended by it (according to his tweet). Keep on fighting Johan, you have a lot of solid fans who don't care if you have a bad day. Next time you'll have a good day and then it'll be all the sweeter. I look at it this way: out of 32 players, 24 will drop down to Challenger League and most will probably get back in. You didn't reach top8 this time, but in a while that won't mean anything. You're a great player and personality that stirs people in lots of ways. That's why I like you so much! <3

I'm from Denmark and when we beat them in football we never shake hands with them any-more because we don't want them to go all crazy on us. Last time we did that our little mermaid got her head cut off we don't know it for sure it was the Swedish but it make sense because it was the last time we tried to shake hands with them after a match in football ![]() Swedish hooligans after the Danes insulted them with a handshake So yea you better respect Swedish culture. There is many little cultural difference in Sweden compared to the rest of Europe. for example a thumps down actually means thumps up and the term idiot is actually considered a polite compliment. I got a friend in Sweden who says that he say idiot to everyone he meets out of politeness but he will never shake there hands because that would be considered rude.

In my youth when i played sports we almost never did a handshake after the game, always before the game tho as a kind of "gl hf". If there was a handshake after the game it was perhaps one or two players from the opposing team who ran over to some of our players to shake their hands because they thought that player did a good job. This was the norm from when i was around 8 years old and played only for fun up to when i was 19 years old and was played in the highest league for my age in soccer. Shaking hands has never been the norm after a game in SC2 either, in 9/10 games the players wont shake hands. And i think that forcing an opponent (that you know dislikes you and there is bad tension between you) to give you a handshake in a streamed match right after you beat him... is kinda like saying "Hi, thanks for the money / points... here kiss my ring."

I rarely call someone an idiot and when I do I certainly do NOT mean it in a polite way and I DON'T mean thumbs up when I thumb someone down. It's more about how you are as a person rather than "HEY EVERYONE IN SWEDEN IS THIS WAY!". You can't just meet a few people in a certain location who are a certain way and then lable a whole country after their behaviour. What the hell is this? I don't know if you dislike Sweden or not but please stop with this circus and if you absolutely must post it then do it somewhere else and not in a fanclub for a SC2 player. It doesn't belong here.

If you actually have a friend in Sweden, and he told you that. He fooled you hardcore... I have never heard anyone who uses Idiot as a compliment. We Swedes might be weird, but at least don't spread lies.

Everyone have their own advice on it. On the French stream (with ToD) casters were shocked. Didn't know that swede guys have other customs on handshaking. Don't care about that story, for me he should shake it because it's how we saw it in France (maybe a "latin custom"), i have more problem with the whine on "shitty ESL pcs" on his twitter. He is a really good player, he failed his WCS group, that can happen, don't have to find stupid excuse like pcs. PS: fun fact, Tod explained the problem of "cultural Handshaking" in a youtube vlog some days ago.

I am asking this because I do not know. If he didn't then it's his right to express himself what he thinks about whatever in life really, and complaining about computers is just a complaint just as he could complain about the heating in the room where they played. Or is everyone that loses in sc2 stripped of their right to express themselves? Looking forward to see you in the next big tournament Naniwa!

I wasn't particularly upset when I wrote that I just thought his post was incredibly dumb and wanted to answer it. Wasn't like I was sitting infront of my monitor ripping my hair out :p Anyways, there is actually a point in answering posts like that. When someone writes things that are made up/flat out lies then it's good if someone steps in to disprove it so people won't get falsely informed or get the wrong impression. I know most people are smart enough to not fall for posts like that but... unfortunately some will believe it.
