As long term kpop fans, don't we all know useless polls and interviews come out of korea press almost every fucking day? SNSD is currently number 1(FANBASE WISE) in korea so i see no surprise a news agency will rank them as one. Everything revolves around money, ranking snsd as 1 = more hits = more money, not hard to comprehend here on TL right?
There is a reason why Old T-ara didn't pull through did they? Wasn't it about different members' opinion on how the group would go on? If old t-ara were to be still around, they'd probably be a ballad group if anything. and of course ballads vocals will own any kpop idol

like u said. popularity plays a big part here.. and no i dont believe that EunJung HyoMin SoYeon > Taeyeon Sica Fany Sunny SeoHyun. Are u kidding me? Eunjung Hyomin RAPS and dont sing shit. Vocal-wise the trio you mentioned gets pwned so badly -_-. Sure, SoYeon's not bad but if u wanna compare the trio versus the Five....NAH. not a chance.
but I do think the SNSD five are vocally stronger than T-ara's three. Taeyeon is clearly the strongest of all of them, and versatility does count for something.
Actually Musume is right, Eunjung is just as good if not more even more awesome than taengoo. Do not know why mnet is not letting her sing tho. Jessica is okay skillwise but not enough "thickness" in her vocal, and seohyun will not last through a whole song alone.

Every other group on that list has been able to make a song that I still can listen to today. SNSD songs just fucking suck they make them so simple so that even their shitty half can sing along. They can only devote a line or two requiring vocals because otherwise Taeyeon would be singing the whole song. Also every song is composed like a lullabi like their marketing to infants. Can you really go to a club and have Gee come on after a song like Muzik the place would riot.

SNSD has decent songs. Their old songs actually showed their vocal abilities. However, their newer stuff is pretty meh to be honest.

Listen again, pretty sure you'll realize every fking kpop song is the same, rap + chorus+ vocal for that few people in group. 4 min has jiyeon and gayoon, 2ne1 has Park Bom, T-ara has Soyeon, Kara has gyuri. all the fking songs are the same. You are expressing blind hatred to snsd.

Its like you guys are trying to tell me here that Transformers is a good movie its a fucking pop corn movie that appeals to the masses but has no substance. No, we are not telling you snsd is a good movie, i'm telling you every fucking idol group is almost identical apart from their genre(2ne1) and company. Only problem is Transformers appeal to people form 10-40 while UP appeal to people from 3-25. Get my point?
And awards, if Oscar awarding system is not by judge, pure vote and box office, would transformer not get a award for best movie too? BEST SPECIAL EFFECTS ANYONE?
