Generally speaking I don't watch "battle" shows but if something does look interesting to me I will give it a shot.
I suppose because they did have it preview at the start it set my expectations. I loved the 1st arc. Didn't have any "battles." In general Bake is not a show where you have epic fights, and where you do have fights they are often not so much epic as they are onesided slaughters. It just doesn't fit the theme of a protagonist stuck somewhere between normal and abnormal, first by being unable to decide where he lies, then by inertia. Even when he made up his mind by the end of bake, his resolve is still not anything near fleshed out until the events of nise. Such a show really can't be epic per se. Gahara-san though is always epic.
I totally agree with what you say. I think the show is great and all in most aspects, but I don't think it was executed in the best way. Guess that's what I'm trying to say. I'm far from the "oh there's no battles so I'm disappointed."
I should stop talking though cause I didn't watch the blu-ray. If it's a significant improvement I think I'll take a look into those.

For instance: http://myanimelist.net/anime/2251/Baccano! recommends Ayu, and I think that's what I used when I watched the show. Just keep in mind that other people's subbing preferences may not be your preferences. http://www.ji-hi.net/ does comparisons of different subs, but it only started up recently, so it won't have anything for older anime.
I did download from the group AYU but either they didnt seed or some episode were screwed up [no sound].

Speaking of running out of money, did Denyuuden run out of money or what? Pretty shoddy animation for episode 18, despite being one of the most important episodes to date.

I want to know if we're ever going to see a second season of this.

I heard the ratings weren't that good, but the novels seem to still be selling somehow.

Ep 5 of TWGOK was great. I loved Kanon's insert songs.
And you gotta love Keima's video game nazis:

Bakemonogatari isn't necessarily a bad series; it's great but not for the most obvious reasons. While it's difficult to elaborate on Bakemonogatari's quality, I think the key to understanding the series the most is through its characters and their interactions.
Personally, questioning Bakemonogatari's quality is kind of like questioning the Suzumiya Haruhi series' quality: while it may not look like a lot is going on, it is nonetheless a very enjoyable series.
A lot of material within didn't make much sense, but keep in mind that Bakemonogatari is just the beginning to, IIRC, a very long series that hasn't even been completed in its novel adaptations. I'm excited for Araragi's arc (since I can't find any novel translations that go beyond what's already covered in the anime adaptation).

Yeah turns out the ones I was finding were just the trailers, working on tracking down a 1080p subbed version as all the current subs I found are 720p

Shiki 14
+ Show Spoiler +Holy shit! Ozaki must have been really desperate to take his own wife/ex-wife as an experimental subject. He really looked like an insane guy, but in the end it's funny how he just wanted to learn about the Shikis to find a weakness. I really wonder how the priest is gonna react next week. Gonna require to show him the whole video to convince him. I hope Ozaki won't lose his mind or something after this... I thought this was a very good episode.

This arc of Amagami is just as bad as I feared it would be. Rihoko is just so damn annoying. The only redeeming feature of this arc so far is that Rihoko's friend is awesome.

+ Show Spoiler [Index 5] +Summary of the episode: Tsuchimikado is great. Too bad he gets so little screen time. I have high expectations for the next fight.
TWGOK manga seriously looks like it's drawing to a conclusion. Personally, I thought they'd milk it out longer. O.o

You would think the creators would plan ahead for stuff like this, and spend the money on the episodes that need it.

They really went all out with the puppy-dog look for Lato in SRW >_>
Also the way Arad speaks annoys me (the voicing).
