Anyway I watched Suisei no Gargantia. I just want to say that the first half where they're fighting I had no idea what was going on, but it was super colorful so that's cool. The actual mecha fighting part of Gargantia was real 'meh' IMO, definitely the low part of the episode, IMO. MJP's battle part was better. But Gargantia has been good in all the other areas. I just hope it can keep it up, and not force in tons of "grimdark suffering" down my throat, which is typical storytelling for him.

Reading Shingeki no Kyoujin atm. That episode 1 wasn't enough :p

yeah shingeki no kyoujin was the only anime i was sure i would watch because i know the manga, other series have to get by the 3 episode trial xD, or if i dropped / did not even start it i will be sure to take a look at the series that are discussed the most here and on other internet forums.
btw. <3 nodame cantabile, such a good romance & slice of life

I liked it a lot. I especially liked how, in the final episodes, they displayed the humans much more malicious and evil than the actual Shiki, and overall created a very grey morality. Why should Shiki be judged by the laws of humans? Pigs and other livestock don't get to judge humans for eating them. I really liked that about the series. Another thing I liked is how you really felt like anyone could die, at any point, and for the final "battle" I was actually rooting for a lot of the people. I hated some characters and I loved others, this is a good sign for a character driven show (or otherwise).
Maybe I'm a little disappointed with the horror and mystery elements. I think I remember being scared once and the main mystery was almost obvious, there were some nice secondary things to guess, though, which was nice. So while the mystery itself was almost banal, the show still somehow made you keep guessing about things like "did he die?" "will he die"? and so on. I liked how many characters that I thought would survive actually died (you know how it is, anime always build up a situation and it usually plays off in a certain way, they reversed that to good effect) and others who I thought raised so many deathflags to kill them a dozen times ended up surviving (it wasn't many, though. lol.)
What else can I say. The pacing was snail paced, but I guess I can't fault them if it kept me interested enough to marathon all the 24 episodes? The show looked moved so slowly but it wasn't a bad kind of slow, it felt heavy and light to digest at the same time. I wonder how they managed that effect.
I guess I can get a little more specific. About halfway into the show, I started rooting for the Shiki. I wanted them to have a community where they could live and enjoy themselves like a normal society. I really liked Megumi (pink), (green) nurse, and the head priest, who I thought was certain to die. The main protagonist died, lol. I was pretty angry with him, I hoped that he would integrate himself into society as a normal guy (a werewolf can do that, from what I gathered). The doctor's "ORENO SEGI DA" was pulled off quite well, too. I also got to watch that pathetic guy with the long hair die. Twice. Nobody ever liked him. He died miserably. It was glorious.
The ending is weird, too. It doesn't really feel like a story ended, it feels like the story continues and we merely saw the ending of a subplot. Undecided whether or not that is a bad thing. Hot restaurant girl (red) survived, really glad for that. Also what the fuck is with the shonen MC surviving? I thought they left him to the old man to feed? Did blue protag save him off screen? How did he know where he was?
I'm glad that priest and little girl survived, I'm also glad that the village got burned out. I guess that's all I have to say. If you've actually read everything then I feel like I should treat you with something as a reward, but I don't know how. I guess that's about it, huh. I haven't posted here in ages but I needed to vent my thoughts somewhere. Last post of the thread, huh. I guess it's almost guaranteed to be ignored now. Oh well, I'd still be glad if anyone who reads at least something would say something.
It's been a while since I watched Shiki, but...
+ Show Spoiler +Yeah I was hoping that the MC would live and be normal as a super awesome werewolf. I was really rooting more so for certain characters than a side. My biggest gripe is that the head priest and little girl survived, actually. I thought it was retarded and it pissed me off to no end ;-; The slow pace in the beginning of the shower really paid off though and overall great anime. I guess I just responded to say I hated the ending with those two surviving. Also the old guy was totally badass.

A lot of the battle felt static, for lack of a better word. There was beam spam and everything, but the scene kinda lacked energy, and it was like were just going through the motions of being a mecha anime. There's also the issue of why you would approach a giant ass cannon head on, but other series tend to do the exact same stuff in this respect.
The sheer amount of technobabble was ridiculous. That's not too big of a deal, but it kinda dilutes the mood of the scene in my opinion.
The start of the episode mentioned rights being granted through military service. It was reminiscent of Starship Troopers except that stupid shit like "reproduction rights" were included. I mean, c'mon...
The second half I really liked. I'd be quite happy if the rest of the series was just exploring the new world and culture surrounding it as opposed to some grand plot or war. But it wouldn't be a mecha anime if that happened, so that's right out. I hope they balance it ok.
Red and Chamber remind me of Sousuke and Al, which is a very good thing. It's gonna be hard to match Al though.

So far watching only Shingeki no Kyojin and Suisei no Gargantia.... kinda weak season so far.
Anything else worth watching?

+ Show Spoiler +I basically agree, the first half was more or less infodump with pretty lights in the background. It seems like he's been spending his entire life in the military so far. He didn't seem to look forward to that vacation, but it seems he's going to get it (albeit a bit differently). I've seen some hate for Chamber ("first two episodes is just the robot talking all the time!!" or something along those lines), but he seems cool. The subs I had were a bit dumb though, Red-> Ledo, really? Looking forward to exploring the water world.
About Shingeki: Mikasa is cool all right, too bad Eren isn't (for the most part). Looking forward to seeing Potato animated (and Revaille though that's a lot later, he is the most badass character in the manga for sure).
Regarding Shiki:
+ Show Spoiler +In the end I feel like it was about turning the humans into monsters and the monsters into humans, so to say. The amount of bloodbath in this show is just over the top (make sure you watch the... 20.5 and 21.5 episodes, or whatever their numbers were, a lot of disturbing stuff there). The doctor's "moment" is one of the highlights of the anime for sure.
I'm satisfied with the ending, protect the vampire loli! The scene in the burning house against the old man, oh god I wanted him to die so badly. Funny how the show turned me into a vampire sympathizer in the end, eh? Oh and noone deserves a death like Megumi's, like wtf that was almost too brutal even for me. Or wait, the super ugly guy probably deserved that death.
edit:

Hataraku had a funny first episode, and I found Namiuchigiwa no Muromi-san to be pretty amusing for a 13 minute show.

Eren doesn't seem like much after first ep but then again he did + Show Spoiler +kill 2 men for Mikasa's sake.
Also finished zaregoto book 2, I must say huge improvement over the first one although it didn't seem to sell as well. x over y trick was kinda lame though.

Out of the ones I've read (3.1 vols, translate faster pretty please), vol 2 was my favorite.

Things you do for a vespa man.
I think people don't need much elaboration on how my favorite character was in vol 3.

Shingeki no Kyojin....extremely well done first episode. You can really tell they put a lot of effort in this anime unlike 90% of the other mediocre animes.

Saw Shingeki episode 1. Don't like the characters too much but first impressions arn't everything, so we'll see. Series looks likes it's going to be pretty good overall though.

+ Show Spoiler +Do you mean Aikawa-san? She's amazing, lol.

Nope, that said Aikawa-san is a central figure so I wouldn't pinpoint just vol 3 for it.
