Fate/Zero is a prequel (10 years prior to FSN) and doesn't require any story / plot that happened from FSN. That and you may decide that cutting yourself is more enjoyable while you watch FSN. Fate/Zero is good though.

You don't need to watch FSN first, but you should read FSN. The anime for FSN is bad. The VN is very well regarded. Plus typical "production order is always the correct order", etc etc.

Let's hope the "production order is always the correct order" is not the same one meant by the creators of the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumya Ah... i remember i watched the entire endless eight... what was i thinking...

You could say I took the wrong order for Fate, as I watched Fate/Zero before reading the Fate SN VN, and I can tell you that it didn't really affect my enjoyment of both, there is no problem understanding the Fate/Zero anime by itself. It's a great anime by the way, and also one that I advise to many people who don't watch a lot of them.

Don't watch FSN unless you want to hear some epic motivational speeches about how " People die if they are killed!" Watch Fate Zero though ![]()

Watch Fate Zero though ![]() Shirou gets too much shit for that line. Whatever you do, do not watch the anime. It's the VN or nothing, imo. And even then, I don't think F/SN is that great of a VN, but not getting all the three major routes makes it pointless, so there's no reason to watch the bad anime. RDG, episode 1-4: Earlier I've said that I thought it was rather boring, but as of episode 4 it actually caught my interest for real. I'll be watching the whole thing, I think. The main character still feels useless, though.

There are lvl 50ish ones in the mines and those should be the ones you are going for, the ones on world map's append dungeons are like lvl 90 and meant to be done on like 3rd+ playthrough, probably 4th lol. What quest number is it? If it was the append 2.0 ones though umm, that append was balanced around itself. You basically have to have enough supplies stockpiled from multiple playthroughs to zerg through the dungeons at least once to bring back recipe and materials. Infinitely zerging by having things die and reviving them on the same turn is probably the best way to go about it without having top end equipments from pre append2. Quest 115, the quest is given in market so it's blocking other stuff... and once you accept it you only have 3 days. I killed everything else in mine and the only one left is the lv 90 one so that has to be it.

Oooh I remember now, those were the ones where they throw one append 2.0 monsters at you and tell you to somehow kill it. Um...how high level is your Yuela, or do you have the ball demon that comes w/ double action. Take one of them, equip w/ your best lightning weapon, throw in 1 or both of the raise stats when low HP stuff, make sure they survive at least one hit from it. Zerg w/ revives. There might be other elements that deal bonus damage to that but lightning was the only one that came to mind. Alternatively don't bother because like I said before, those things are meant to be done at like 3rd+ playthrough lol. On April 09 2013 19:01 Maxie wrote: Shirou gets too much shit for that line. Kaze was telling me how he dropped it after watching preair episodes, then I checked with him to see if they did a bunch of things that were essential to the books. He was greatly confused then finally remembered some shit that they never bothered explaining. In other words, PA Works doing work to a novel adaptation again. Sigh.

On the other hand, FSN basically says the very end result of F/Z, but everything else leading up to it, and the circumstances, largely remain a mystery. I'd definitely say its best to go in Production Order.

But Sent's right. If I had the time to just plow through the FSN VN, I probably would've done that first. Though I guess in some cases, having zero knowledge of the FSN storyline did leave a lot of the suspense in the story open for a while.

I absolutely loooooved season 1, does anyone know when season 2 will air? yeah, it was really amazing... and I was very happy to know about the 2nd season. unfortunately, it takes time to get used to the animation, it does get better later on. It was probably the reason why some people didn't get past the first epi.
