Thanks for telling me to stick with it. I wasn't disappointed in the end. People aren't all giddy about Refrain for no reason.
Now I'm interested in Little Busters all of a sudden. Damned TLADT, makes me want to watch/play/read five thousand things at the same time.

I've seen the first few episodes and I'm not sure if it's really worth it, is there really a storyline? In the beginning it's just him being kinda perverted lol, it's not too bad but I couldnt watch 40+ eps of it.
didn't watch the anime but i got all the books. The storyline in itself is not realy deep (it's onizuka taking care of his students problems and wining them over one by one). The arc can go into quite serious stuff and is pointing out some rotten things in japan society. In the end, it is realy enjoyable, both funny and serious at the same time.

I hated that about Claymore so much T_T Thanks for bringing that up. Do you know at what manga chapter the anime ends?

Just start at claymore volume 11 chapter 58-63 from mange trader.

Yea the anime sorta just stopped when they got close to the source material. It was actually pretty good 10 odd episodes in but frankly it doesnt get any better from the point it stopped at. The manga is pretty much a pure angst fest at this point. Not particularly fun to read and soooo slow.

Muv luv alternative finished + Show Spoiler + Well its been a very long read and Im glad I did it. I guess ill sum up my thoughts on the series starting off with the bad and ending with the good. Muv luv extra and even unlimited where pretty bad and it was painful at times to get through. The charaters didnt seem to have alot of depth and the MC was just dense and dumb. Also Bot unlimited and Alternative took way to much time a effort explaining Bullshit science. I dont mind science fiction explinations but the concepts were way to abstract for me to enjoy being explained. The MC in alternative and everyone else at times love to rant on shit and charater develpments we already knew. It was tedious and painful at times.
The good. The production and action is the best I seen in a VN, tho I only read two others lol. I got seriously pumped and absorbed in every action sequence even tho they where just moving pictures around lol. I also said this before but the MC improves and developed drastically. I thought the psdt arc was done beautifully. Its really easy to get aggravated or even hate the main charater for being so whiny but you could really feel his torment in the psdt arc and they just nailed it. After the psdt he had such strong resolve that you really rooted and respect the guy. The story was pretty good. You really felt desperate to stop the beta and there was alot of sacrifices to do so.
The attack on the original hive was really intense. It really made you care a feel like every chararter is a badass (cept Chizuru). All the charaters gave it thier all and you could defiantly feel it. My favorite during that mission was Meiya, Kei, and Mikoto in that order. Keis' especially surprised me seeing her rage in emotion while being a badass. Mikotos was cool to cause u never seen him that serious. In the end I liked the characters alot (besides Chizuru) and thought the ending in alternative was well done. The ending showing him in EXTRA tho i didn't feel was needed or necessarily liked. I would of preferred that he died in the ALTERNATIVE world. So im glad I read it. It was really good tho this will be the last VN I read probably.

+ Show Spoiler +Agree with you on a lot of points, though I thought Unlimited was pretty good. When it comes to all the different death scenes, Meyia's is the best (the fact that it's the "epic finale" to our 50 hour+ adventure doesn't hurt, I guess), imo. All the others were well done too, but for some reason Sumika's just didn't... well, I think it's because she was the 00 unit already... should have had greater impact on me really, it's still on par with the others, but... ah, fuck it. I really preferred Sumika over Meyia in Extra, but Meyia is way better in Unlimited/Alternative than she is in Extra, so I liked her the most there, which is why her scene had an extra impact on me, I guess. Hayase's was also good. Maybe I'm just a sucker for blue/purple hair >.>

Also this is really late, but if the person who asked is still reading and still cares, D. Grayman...was a pretty good shounen battle manga until the author suffered a lot of injuries :/ then the plot got sort of confused and weird. The art is definitely really great though imho.
You guys been reading Gantz? + Show Spoiler [Just in case] +I wonder what happens after this arc. Did the author say it's the last arc, because I don't see you getting any more climactic than literally saving "real-world" Earth in a nitty-gritty atmosphere from an entire massive alien race. The problem with saving the universe is that the very sound of it is even cheesier than saving the world, even though saving the world is probably more cliché.

+ Show Spoiler + Sumika never got a proper goodbye. She just died. I think they maybe could of done that better to make it more impactful. Meiyas death was great and again my favorite. And I fully agree with you on the meiya extra vs unlimted. I said before when I finished unlimited that I liked meiya alot because she wasn't on your dick like she was in extra. Her personality really came out and showed in unlimited, And I also find it funny you mentioned Hayase since I thought her and Meiya where my favorite characters. Sumika would be there to but I felt even tho she was 00unit she didnt change much at all really. Shes still like 4th favorite tho.

With luck, he'll end it here before it mutates into an uncontrollable anime-trailer monster and/or becomes too stagnant à la Bleach. One of the big things that got me into Gantz was how with each arc, the new baddie just seems utterly unbeatable. In shounen battle manga, the bad guy is supposed to seem really strong and whatnot, but Gantz, I thought, was unique in that you and the protags had no idea what the fuck was going on and how it could be possible at all to beat this new invincible dude etc. By now I think the poop's gotten as substantive as it possibly can. :O

Perhaps a dumb question, but how linear is S;G? From what you're saying with the anime following it very closely I get the feeling that it's as linear as MLA.
And yeah, Zouken is pretty scary.
S;G VN is very linear.
You have access to your cell phone most of the time. Instead of traditional VN choice menus, there are places where you'll have the option to answer a phone call or just keep reading (= ignore it). You can also ignore/read then ignore/read then respond to text messages. In the second half, there's also the places where you can open your phone to send a d-mail or don't pull it out (= Okabe decides not to send it). Major branch points are pretty obvious if you've watched the anime, generally meaning you either + Show Spoiler [S;G anime spoilers] +send the reversal d-mail to continue on the main storyline or decide not to send it to enter that heroine's ending
On an unrelated note, yeah Little Busters is good too

Maybe I'm just a sucker for blue/purple hair >.> + Show Spoiler +Incidentally, I thought Meiya's death was ridiculously dragged out. But then again, I had very little attachment to most of the characters in the series because I'm a heartless bastard. Thus their deaths, despite being badass, had little emotional impact.
Also, I was of the opinion that Isumi and Hayase were both cooler than the entire main female cast, so it pissed me off a fair bit when they were killed off relatively early.

Major branch points are pretty obvious if you've watched the anime, generally meaning you either + Show Spoiler [S;G anime spoilers] +send the reversal d-mail to continue on the main storyline or decide not to send it to enter that heroine's ending On an unrelated note, yeah Little Busters is good too On July 11 2012 10:56 Maxie wrote:On July 11 2012 10:50 Ryndika wrote: found out Denpa Teki no Kanojo. Love the protagonist lol. some crazy biches in this anime. I fucking loved it, nothing supernatural, no super powers, just bat shit crazy people. God, I love crazy people so much. Biggest flaw? Too short. On July 11 2012 10:32 Tabbris wrote:Muv luv alternative finished + Show Spoiler + Well its been a very long read and Im glad I did it.
Ayamine and Tama, both very fitting and awesome death scenes
Also just want to randomly add, I liked Akane in both Extra and Alternative, wouldn't have minded having her in more scenes.
I personally really enjoy long in-depth sci-fi explanations, but I guess that's a YMMV thing + Show Spoiler +Some lectures were fine, others weren't. Lectures involving Yuuko were bad since it was all essentially BS for the sake of the plot, but Captain Isumi's lectures really helped the world-building. + Show Spoiler +The science explanations were usually handled pretty badly. Realism is fine, but for whatever reason they decided to put in those half hour long lectures. I like sci-fi well enough, but it's not a good enough reason to ruin immersion. An example of sci-fi done well, for instance, would be something like Gunbuster. Their explanation of relativity was very short, and basically boiled down to the faster you go, the more time passes. If you understand the science, that's great! You got something more out of the show. If not, no big deal, it's just a plot device.
I mean really, within reason, "It works this way because I said so" is a perfectly valid explanation.

I enjoyed it a lot but didn't think it was the greatest like some people. + Show Spoiler +I was kind of disappointed that Bradley and Ling never had a sword fight, The glimpse you see of it when they encounter each other for the first time seemed like it was going to be incredible but he had to run. Anyway, I'm looking for more recommendations, I've seen and enjoyed are Evangelion, Death Note, Coboy Bebop. + Show Spoiler +Wrath and ling did fight: around 3: 20 I can recommend you code geass I guess, I think it appeals to kinda the same audience. It's mecha so not too sure you like that, I really enjoyed it though. ( though it's kind of a shut your brain off anime for most people)
following on from code geass
guilty crown is a way shittier similar anime
anyone know any other similar animes to code geass and guilty crown?
