I still think everyone should watch it just so he/she knows what it is. Unless you're really sensitive and/or young, it shouldn't truly traumatize you and it's just another anime. It's not even that long, a 12-ep series iirc.
Sent, can you summarize it for me? ._. No skill = no youtube in China.

One Piece. You like Fairy Tail, apparently liked Bleach/Naruto (to each his own, I guess), and One Piece is considered by almost everyone who has watched/read them all to be better than the other 3.
I was pretty nice with most of my ratings haha, I kinda just put whatever. I'll check it out. 555 episodes is daunting, however.
One Piece is by far the best anime ever made.
There's a reason why it's so popular in Japan and overseas. It may be a bit slow at the start, but it picks up really fast and oh man once you get past ep 200ish, you'll fall in love with it.
It's a really, really good anime that improves every ep - and contrary to popular belief, there aren't many fillers.
I've considered picking it up before, but it always came back to "well I could watch this, or I could watch 10-20 other things." In any case, I'm on episode 2. I'll post when I hit 100 (this may be in 2 days).
Dude... When I started watching One Piece I was like 500 episodes behind aswell. 1-10: Meh, it's alright, what's the big fuss? 10-20: Wow, Luffy is really funny lol. 20-40(arlong arc?): Best show ever. I watched almost everything in 1/2 months. I remember thinking that the art was a bit different which stopped me from picking it up. If you like Fairy Tail and Naruto. You will absolutely love One Piece, it's superior to those two. Keep watching it, there is a reason it's the most populair manga in Japan.
can't we recommend excel saga or something instead? a full frontal culture shock might prove more efficient than a lame love triangle with psycho ending...

Does the audio/video quality get any better in the more recent episodes? I realize the stuff I'm watching right now is 11+ years old, just curious. (Also isn't there a rule about not discussing One Piece in this thread or something? I feel at least partially responsible...)
lol Kimi No Iru Machi. I swear the author's ideas are just what trolls he can come up with every chapter, and by now you can tell when the big full-face panel shot is going to come Latest one also so meta.
No you can discuss whatever you want, though TL does have a thread for OP if you want to go there. ^^ Naruto and Bleach are significantly more trashy so those I guess are less likely to be discussed here.
The OP thread discusses the manga and anime so it's hard to not get spoiled.

From episode 207 and onwards the series is in HD. If I were you I would skip all the fillers. If you want to watch any filler arc I would recommend G8. It's actually fun to watch.

Is this an accurate filler list?: 50,51, 54-60, 93,98,99,101,102, 131-143, 196-206, 213-216, 220-226, 279-283, 317-319, 326-336, 382-384, 406-7, 426-429, 453-458, 492, 497-499, 506

For S;G, I watched the anime first, VN second, and I loved it. The anime followed the VN very closely, but since the VN can convey so much more detail, I still enjoyed it. Liked the @channel portions, particularly Kurisu's forum posts and texts. Watched the anime again afterwards and various parts made more sense.
Clannad though, VN first anime second and I had trouble going back to the VN due to the graphics. Or at least that was my excuse at the time; I might have been feeling burnt out from Clannad/VN overload having just watched through the anime twice and reading FSN. Maybe I should go back and try again sometime.
Enjoy Zouken's creepiness
Totally random, but just remembered, Yuuko's voice actor actually sounds so different from in the VNs O_o + Show Spoiler +
That's... quite different O.o good job being able to change her voice that much, I now have more respect for voice actors...
Perhaps a dumb question, but how linear is S;G? From what you're saying with the anime following it very closely I get the feeling that it's as linear as MLA.
Hey just randomly popping in and I see it's talking about OP and S;G.
Like people said OP is awesome, I think knowing the most expert population of the world as far as manga goes, consider it to be one of the hugest series they ever got (in terms of quality and lenght ) should be enough to get into it. Remember that basically any shop in Akihabara (Tokyo) dedicates at least a third of it's space to One Piece, than the remaining 70% go to the thousands of remaining mangas/animes
As far as S;G goes, I'm currently watching it for the first time. The first 7 episodes are really slow paced and you got to pass that to start to grasp what it's gonna be all about (well, time travelling for sure but ....). I guess you could call the beginning pretty linear but that's not the feeling I'm getting anymore from the last 3 episodes I saw (I'm at ep 10).
Didn't watch it myself but I heard/read pretty mitigated opinions about it. Basically what I remember is that it's good but there are like 20 episodes to watch before you really get into it and 20 episodes of introduction is a bit long for an anime. But once again, I'm not 100% sure, that's just what I've been told or what I read about it

I have a friend who says it's fucking amazing, but I've also heard that it suffers from the "bad guys refuse to actually die" sort of thing... which I guess is common in generic shonen, but not something I'm a fan of, so I haven't watched it yet.
The protag is a kid that wants to find and kill a guy that tempts people into accepting and incubating demons within themselves for the power of granting their deepest wish. Originally there was a reason like getting revenge for the kid's father (or was it mother? w/e) but that got side tracked quite a bit. Kid was taught by a powerful exorsit that left him to follow a mission, and the kid is trying to officially get into his mentor's organisation. He receives power-ups to battle the demons that are evolving like super saiyens. He meets friends, falls in love but the truth is he has a dark past that starts to slowly resurface.
Don't expect this to be dark/gloomy or serious. This is still shounen so "friendship saves the day" crap is there on an everyday basis. Nevertheless the battles are decent/good, the plot isn't bad (until recently), and the concept is likeable. Probably not a manga I'd recommend as 1st choice, but worth taking a look if you're looking for more battle shounen. For the record, I think Katekyo Hitman Reborn is better.
