It's mecha so not too sure you like that, I really enjoyed it though. ( though it's kind of a shut your brain off anime for most people) following on from code geass guilty crown is a way shittier similar anime anyone know any other similar animes to code geass and guilty crown? Shakugan no Shana III Final. That anime is all about everyone keikaku'ing everyone else over and over.

Just marathon'd Madoka, though I was initially turned off by the beginning of the series + Show Spoiler +, I decided to push through.
I really liked the artwork and animation as it was quite out of the ordinary and different from the same old animation we've come to know out of Japan. The story in my opinion was quite good, and I was thoroughly entertained throughout, however I feel like it could have been so much more. Also the ending gives hope for another series (not likely a sequel or prequel, perhaps a spin-off?) however the ending in my opinion sucked and could have been made 1000000x better, but well that's what usually happens in most animes.
Now that it's over I'm looking for something a little lighter, perhaps comedy. Any suggestions would be helpful, although it would probably be hard to name one I haven't seen or attempted to watch.
Here is my MAL, hopefully someone has some suggestions. http://myanimelist.net/animelist/Leftwing

Maria Holic or Arakawa Under the Bridge. Both has 2 seasons and both were made by Shaft. Take your pick.
Edit: Spoiler your shit.

Shaft? Ehh... I've seen some of Maria Holic (first two eps), didn't really like it. I'll give Arakawa a try. I'll probably just go back and watch something I've already seen while I wait for the new shows to release episode 2.

Shaft is always 'unique' in its animation (half of which is an effective method of cost cutting--how convenient)
Arakawa and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei are pretty iconic from SHAFT for their comedy. I feel like Denpa Onna is pretty similar in this regard as well, despite the moe factor and the author of its source material is a fan of NisiOisiN's writing (bakemonogatari) and it shows even when animated. Paniponi dash has a lot of otaku references so it might be not one of the first to watch. Maria Holic, is pretty hit or miss since it plays on a lot of 'strange' tropes such as the trap, the raging lesbian lead (who's retarded, by the way) fanservice, etc.
so yeah, go with Arakawa/Denpa Onna/Soredemo Machi/SZS, i'd say. i listed them in order from least to most episodic(kind of), since some people can't stand anime structured as such, which i feel plays an important part in how its received by the viewer.
((i also like how you don't score anything, I'd troll people at that point by giving everything a 10.))

Honestly some of the shows I've seen don't even deserve to be rated a 1, so why bother rating them at all? Is there any big name shows I'm missing off my list other than Gurren Lagaan? Not just comedy, but action, mystery etc?

I enjoyed it a lot but didn't think it was the greatest like some people. + Show Spoiler +I was kind of disappointed that Bradley and Ling never had a sword fight, The glimpse you see of it when they encounter each other for the first time seemed like it was going to be incredible but he had to run. Anyway, I'm looking for more recommendations, I've seen and enjoyed are Evangelion, Death Note, Coboy Bebop. + Show Spoiler +I can recommend you code geass I guess, I think it appeals to kinda the same audience. That anime is all about everyone keikaku'ing everyone else over and over. funny that, im watching that right now got through 1 and 2 where i wanted to kill the main guy character for fucking around so much and then episode 1 of season 3 i want to kill the main guy character even harder i'll perservere through the season though Don't do it. It's a waste of your brain cells. He wants an anime similar to Code Geass and Guilty Crown, so why not? know of another? I guess another is kind of like CG and GC. Nice wan Maybe Gundam Seed as well? Lots of NTRing going on in that one too lol. Or was it Seed Destiny, I forget.
Watched both like 6 years ago.NTR?LOL Hardly any. Gundam Seed/Seed Destiny is not like CG or GC simply because of the ending and the story.
Want good animes? Start out by watching FMA Brotherhood.
If you have the time, watch One Piece. It is pretty much the best long-term anime to watch now. There is 555 episodes. But you can skip the fillers if you want if you are just interested in the main storyline.
