I feel like Denpa Onna is pretty similar in this regard as well, despite the moe factor and the author of its source material is a fan of NisiOisiN's writing (bakemonogatari) and it shows even when animated. Paniponi dash has a lot of otaku references so it might be not one of the first to watch. Maria Holic, is pretty hit or miss since it plays on a lot of 'strange' tropes such as the trap, the raging lesbian lead (who's retarded, by the way) fanservice, etc. so yeah, go with Arakawa/Denpa Onna/Soredemo Machi/SZS, i'd say. i listed them in order from least to most episodic(kind of), since some people can't stand anime structured as such, which i feel plays an important part in how its received by the viewer. ((i also like how you don't score anything, I'd troll people at that point by giving everything a 10.)) Honestly some of the shows I've seen don't even deserve to be rated a 1, so why bother rating them at all? Is there any big name shows I'm missing off my list other than Gurren Lagaan? Not just comedy, but action, mystery etc? Well, yeah, there are alot of "big name" shows you are missing. You have less than 100 completed anime, and there are alot of notable anime out there thats been released in the past 30-40 years. Rather than just list them all, if you want notable anime, the chart at the top of the page is full of them, and you haven't watched everything on that chart. I doubt anyone here other than maybe Kaal has. I've seen everything on the list except Gintama. I wish I can say that someday. >.>

Um, action and thought are like 50/50 in it. The characters all have different diaries, which tell them different things, which means they have to try and outsmart each other using the knowledge they have while considering the knowledge their oppoenents have. Though general what happens is Yuno just kills everyone, with a small amount of planning. Later they have to think a bit more, because some of the later diary users get some really OP diaries. MC spends a lot of time whining and complaining about his situation. I suppose it shows his emotion, but it mainly just annoyed everyone who watched it rather than add to the experience. He gets better later on, kinda....You never really feel for him, if that's what you're referring to.

I've seen season 1, and the version I had was AVI / hardsubbed, but the quality was good enough for DVD release anyway. Pretty sure I did the same with mushishi, though I think I pulled that one off of nyaa

Ive been wondering why they think reenacting whats in the Holy book Testament might someday make the harmonic divine planes exist again. Could this be a offerring of some sort? Latelyl Ive come to realize that everything in Horizon is based off offerrings, and as long as the requirements are met their wish will be fulfilled. So does this mean that once they follow exactly whats in the Testament book that they will be able to rebuild the Harmonic Divine Planes again?

Mushishi doesnt have one period but its a lot better than JS infact its one of the best in recent years. Id go for Mushishi first definately.
