I mean, I guess I can sorta understand watching depressing stuff for the sole reason to make yourself sad, but why would you want to watch ancient stuff from 2007/2008 and give yourself eye cancer?
Whoa whoa, what the hell man, have you watched 5 cms/s? It looks better than 90% of the stuff released in recent years. And how is anime from 2007 ancient? .
Because its a joke. Look who failed at sarcasm now. You cant possibly be so stoic that you fail to realise thats a troll. Especially after the supposedly painfully obvious sarcasm that most of what you say is riddled with.

Just saying something that's wrong is not sarcasm, at least not when it's written. There's a difference between making a ridiculous exaggeration, while even making the sentence sound dumb, and saying "anime from 2007 is old. Without voice or context, it's impossible to identify that as sarcasm. Apparently t's some sort of in joke over here (?), how am I supposed to be familiar with that?
Saying 2007 anime is old isnt a ridiculous exaggeration? What do you think?
Yeah. Exactly. Maybe the eye cancer through you off.
Without voice or context
Might do well to remember that the next time you employ it.
Then let me use my post as an example. This is the part someone took too seriously:
the brilliant military tactics from the brilliant military mastermind that is Lelouch (such as baiting people onto a bridge and making it collapse, baiting people into a building and making it collapse, or baiting people onto a bridge and making a building collapse on top of it)
Not only is there a horrible repetition no one would use in a real sentence, the idea of considering what is essentially three slight variations of the same very simple tactic (baiting people and making shit fall on top of them) "brilliant military tactics" is completely retarded.
but why would you want to watch ancient stuff from 2007/2008 and give yourself eye cancer?
Now, this sentence does sound like something a sane human being would say, and while I might disagree with what it says, it's not fundamentally dumb as fuck. There might be people who think 5 year old anime is old. The Internet is probably filled with them.
If I say "My father is a reptile." it's obviously not true, but it's also not fucking sarcasm, is it now?
Sarcasm is "a sharp, bitter, or cutting expression or remark; a bitter jibe or taunt",[1] usually conveyed through irony or understatement.[2]

It has less to do with what I actually said and more with how the content is presented. When I give three examples of the "brilliant tactics" and they are pretty much the same thing, worded exactly the same way, it makes the humorous tone pretty obvious. Simply stating that anime fro 2007 is ancient and would give you eye cancer, while pretty dumb, is something people would say. Do notice that I'm not claiming that no one would say that Lelouch was some sort of tactical genius, I'm just saying that no one would ever honestly, seriously say it as "brilliant military tactics from the brilliant military genius" and give "baiting people onto a bridge and making it collapse, baiting people into a building and making it collapse, or baiting people onto a bridge and making a building collapse on top of it" as examples of said brilliance, unless it was a grade schooler writing an essay or some shit.

Whoa whoa, what the hell man, have you watched 5 cms/s? It looks better than 90% of the stuff released in recent years. And how is anime from 2007 ancient? There hasn't been any real improvement in the graphical quality of anime since then, except for a few shows like GC and Hyouka that have above average animation and that's enough to make everyone care about them no matter how mediocre the actual content is.
yeah sounds about right... at least metalheads fighting while singing would make sense xDDD i guess the show is not for me, but i knew that beforehand <.<

I'll definitely rewatch the APM episode lol.

Hm it's been a while, what are you referring to with "APM" episode?

It was a bit disappointing to me as well, but i'm glad they didn't bog down the anime with all the details. If you want to understand what exactly happened, you can just read it up ^^ This way, you still experience the drama through the theatric experience of the anime, while avoiding too many explanations which can mess up the pacing and stuff.

Code Geass sold ~90% of what Gundam SEED has
That was what SEED sold in it's first WEEK of release in japan.
SEED is easily the most popular anime that's come out in the last 15 years. It singlehandedly revived the entire anime industry.
Well actually wiki says:
In April 2004, Bandai Visual announced that one million copies of the Gundam SEED DVD had been sold in Japan, with the first volume having sold over 100,000 copies.
The series ended in september 2003, so that's ~7 months after. If you look at Code Geass,
By August 2008, over 900,000 Code Geass discs have been sold in Japan.
That's 1 year after season 1 but 1 month before R2 finished airing. Both series are about ~50 episodes so in terms of sales, it seems like Code Geass has the stronger numbers there?
Anyways, me and Sentenal have cleared things up, there were some silly misconceptions which had a snowball effect but now everything's good xD I think everyone should just ignore the majority of our posts since it would take quite a long time to see what went wrong especially if you want to try to dissect our actual opinions from them.
Based wikipedia. Here's an actual sales chart. Number in parentheses is excluding BD-release, no idea why its there.

Also, is the first number the number of sales sold in the first week, or...? I heard madoka sold a lot, but wow that is a lot.

In the VN Nagisa is still the main heroine and she usually plays a part in other routes (for no reason at all, seriously fuck her can't she gtfo she just pisses me off lol) but the other ones actually don't get hella friendzoned in their routes (obviously) and they cut out a lot of things, even a whole route though it wasn't really relevant to the main plot anyway. It's obvious why they did it but still sucks.
The sunohara ending? xD. Or I'm guessing there is an imouto route?
No imouto route. It's technically one, but at the same time not at all. Sumohara ending is a bit...different. There are a lot of small details. You should give the VN a try if you enjoyed the anime, it's far better imo (though that's the case with most VNs that have an anime attached to them)
There's a side character (doesn't show up at all in the anime) that gets his own route where he pairs up with Ryou
Wait, you play as a male side character ? o.o interesting Well, I guess that's the obvious reason why it wasn't in the show now xD
You're still Tomoya, but instead of you getting together with one of the girls, you help Kappei pair off with Ryou. I suppose you could say it makes up for Ryou not getting a proper route with Tomoya (her "route" is essentially a bad end in the middle of Kyou's route).
Ah, thanks. That's interesting. Well, now I understand why the Kyou/Ryou special episode went the way it did ^^
Googling around, found some more sales charts that include CG and SEED/SEED Destiny. Don't know how accurate or good the source is though.

Theres so much stuff in that thread, it does become hard to read. As far as I know, these charts are BD sales to date based upon yearly/monthly/weekly rankings or something. That's where the numbers came from though. There are sources for like, everything in there too.
But yeah, madoka vols 1-5 sold 50k+ in the first week, so thats why it's extremely high. It broke Bakemono's record of having most BDs sold in a single volume in the first week, also why it's extremely high too.
Also worth noting it's in average sales per unit (either boxset or volume), so it isnt a sum of all volumes, so I guess you can multiply it by volumes to get an approximate total sales. This way longer shows arent skewed as having an advantage.
Wow, nice links xD
SEED definitely has a love-it-or-hate-it quality to it, and apparently it didn't do well when it was first aired in the US. Was much more popular in Japan. But Gundam Wing did well in the US, and Gundam Wing sucks, so take that for what you will.
Ah, I see. Also, I worded it wrong but I meant that I realized that the SEED that people were talking about being one of the worst Gundam series was Destiny SEED, not SEED. From what I remembered seeing it on Toonami back when then, I noticed amount of detail they gave to the Gundams was quite lower than in other Gundam series (or maybe those were just because of the wide shots with lots of gundams?) which disappointed me a bit.

Gate of steiner is so perfect for the series <3 Time to listen to the others!
yeah sounds about right... at least metalheads fighting while singing would make sense xDDD i guess the show is not for me, but i knew that beforehand <.<
i watched it with nagi and echo for 5-10 minutes, i wouldve dropped it during the 1st episode. the entire premise is so laughable i cant take it seriously and the rest is so terrible

Also, Gate of Steiner for god tier theme <3333 Kept listening to it over and over for days after I finished the VN
Now that I think about it, all my top favorite series have had strong OP/ED themes. I think music in general has a pretty big impact on me subconsciously when I watch stuff (band geek background yay).
