Did they ever introduce what the Leuocyte-thing was? + Show Spoiler +They made it pretty obvious that it was essentially an Ion Cannon.
Also, Shu isn't being fooled, since the place that got Ion Cannoned isn't anywhere near where Shu is.
edit: to clarify, the pen is clearly a trap, but I don't think the pen was a trap that had anything to do with the ion cannon strike in this episode. + Show Spoiler [gc 5] + The pen is basically being used as a way for, when discovered, Undertaker to basically lose any/all trust in Shu at some critical moment later on in the story. Shu will probably try to say that he never planned to use it, that he won't betray them, Undertaker won't believe him etc etc.
I was kind of surprised when Inori said that everything she had done so far (ie: being together with Shu, Shu is her's or w/e) was all a lie and just a way by Gai to try and get Shu over to Undertaker. It annoyed me though that Shu acted as if he just wanted Inori to be his girlfriend (not that I blame him) and that was that. He didn't really care about w/e Undertaker was fighting for and was ready to basically try and run away with Inori.
He also seems to have a misunderstanding between Inori and Gai? but I wouldn't blame him, I would've thought the same thing too from just Shu's POV, but the scene with Inori and Gai in the bedroom didn't look like anything sexual or w/e. Unless it was all after. But Gai was on some IV drip which was interesting.
edit: wheelchair-chan was super cute this ep! + Show Spoiler +Inori is turning into a Ayanami Rei rather than a C.C, unfortunately.
Also, its been kinda clear that Shu doesn't care about Undertaker for quiet a few episodes now. He even has been lead to believe by that evil white person that Gai is the villain. It annoying you is one thing, but as far as Shu is concerned, Undertaker is a terrorist organization he doesn't really want to be involved with, but lol circumstance. Not surprising that after Rei manipulated him that he would just want to elope with her.
The title of this episode of GC was called "Ayase is the best girl: The Episode" lol I've always liked reading quotes by Yoshiyuki Tomino, the creator of Gundam. You never know if he is going to say something profound, or something that will make you go "this guy is batshit insane". Like for example, here are some Tomino quotes I've come across in the past: Show nested quote +I was very upset when I saw Evangelion, because it was apparent to me that the people who made it weren't thinking at all about making fun for or gaining the sympathy of the audience. Instead they tried to convince the audience to admit that everybody is sick, practically in the middle of a nervous breakdown, all the time. I don't think you should show things like that to everybody. It's not entertainment for the masses--it's much more interested in admitting that we're all depressed nervous wrecks, I thought. It was a work that told people it was okay to be depressed, and it accepted the psychological state that said if you don't like the way the world works, then it's okay to just pick up a gun and attack someone. I don't think that's a real work of art. When people see that, they begin to realize they are the same way. I think that we should try to show people how to live healthier, fuller lives, to foster their identity as a part of their community, and to encourage them to work happily until they die. I can't accept any work that doesn't say that. Show nested quote +As I mentioned earlier, there is this political theorist, Hannah Arendt, whom I admire deeply. She wrote about the possibilities of totalitarianism. What I'd like to do, if I ever have an opportunity to create another Gundam-like series, is to use this theme. The possibilities of totalitarianism and the dangers of it. I would embed it into this work and tell the story of totalitarianism and its dangers using robots or cute anime. Show nested quote +In fact, as you might see from all the cosplayers on the convention floor, samurai-type anime, especially with swordwork and swordplay, seems very popular, so I'm starting to think that maybe we need to start incorporating that into Gundam. Maybe Tomino's next show will be a Gundam-like anime about a totalitarian government run by cute samurai lolis, that encourages people to live healthier, fuller lives, to foster their identity as part of their community. This is how I image Tomino looking every time he starts talking: + Show Spoiler +
That almost sounds exactly like Horizon or something ~_~
GC: + Show Spoiler +I'm basically enjoying most of the things about the show except the MC, Inori and Ayase are both awesome and the central plot/conflict is quite suitable. Shu's entire existence pretty much annoys me, and the fact that it seems as though using the void genome grants him the modicum of intelligence required to be useful basically makes him seem just a hollow shell for OP plot powers without any significant personal ability

GC is really entertaining me.
+ Show Spoiler + I never thought I'd feel something like that from an anime, but watching Inori ditch Shu and "picking Gai" was really gut wrenching. For the last 4 episodes, I thought something nice was happening between them, but it's all fake :'(. I wonder if something is going to happen between Ayase and Shu now.

It was wrenching in that it was painful to see someone so stupid. The whole thing might've been more interesting if MC wasn't as dense as a rock and recalled Ayase yelling at him in the previous episode about what he has done to Inori as to make her disobey Gai's orders. Inb4 stereotypical developments like this was some cheesy shoujo manga.
Look on the bright side, they can't spend a season on that kind of stuff like Kimi ni Todoke season 2, right?

Why so much hate on a masterpiece? What are you, some stuck-up elitist that rags on people whenever their opinions don't match? Don't be like...

all those pics of mobile suit nanoha make me want to watch it now.
+ Show Spoiler [GC] +The problem with GC, is that most of us were disappointed at the weak personality of Shu, when we were expecting more of a "magnificent bastard (insert tvtrope link here)" like Lelouch. I hope that at least Gai will be more like Lelouch, even though we have no idea what he's doing.
|
Dunno about disappointment since I never expected anything from GC, but that weak personality of MC is just something that's really overused in the recent years as a way to at least show some development. It isn't really something in itself to complain about, but like all other things about GC, it makes the show very generic and doesn't offer anything beyond what the previous shows of a similar nature do. Then throw in the too-oft-used misunderstanding of an otherwise simple situation and I am finding myself staring down at one cliche after another.
Novelty is not a requirement, although it does make a show look comparatively better - because there be nothing else to compare it to.
Also funny that I should be saying all that when I constantly get annoyed at Shauni's talk about how things stick to stupid archetypes, but I suppose even I have a limit as to how much cliche I can put up with.

The mark of good writing is when a strong character gets development anyways.
HIKARUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!

So I just caught up with GC (I'm really bad with keeping up with weekly releases for anything) and I really, really like it.
+ Show Spoiler [gc] +There's a few problems I have like how the Void's power can technically create an infinite amount of deus ex machinas (every anime does this though) and kind of ruins the tension built up about 'plans' that they create. Code Geass pulled this off really well (yeah I'm comparing them, sue me) and made it seem like everything was strategic even though all they did was yell a bunch of numbers and code names. Still, I don't mind too much because most mecha shows tend to do this anyway.
I do believe Shu will become stronger and develop as a character. Even though he's got a weak personality right now, I'm okay with it. Compare it to Eva - the main focus of a lot of episodes and a lot of airtime had to do with Shinji being a weak pussy fuck. Shu is just a bit weak but still makes up for it in a lot of ways. Also, it doesn't take up too much airtime, I'd say it's just right.
Animation/soundtrack is stellar. The weird cat girl is way out of place but that's not really a concern.
I like the relationship (and how it can develop) between Shu, Gai and Inori. I want Inori to be cooler but I can't get what I want all the time.
Also, Inori better not be Shu's mom's clone or I'll fucking murder someone

It's not that I watch Anime Intellectually, I just don't find GC interesting, it just doesn't attract my attention.
