It's not so much yuri...there are less lesbians in that series than in most harem anime. It's good if you like girl drama, lots of crying, girl drama, etc. It's geared towards girls, not guys.

Found Index vol 18 on Friday and happily finished it, I am honestly getting rather annoyed at how the author still tries to keep focus on only one side even though a major theme is the intertwine of science and magic. Though most of that annoyance comes from there being not enough Misaka whenever we get an arc on the magic side. :p

My point was that they wouldn't be landmarks if they hadn't been good in the first place -_- I am simply critical of them, even knowing what it is like back then, I felt like the production could've gone better. Especially Nadesico, blessed with Ruri and not doing enough with her. (No, a movie, a game, and something like 4 volumes worth of light novels isn't enough) You can say that about a lot of shows - depending on how critical you are when drawing the line, you could say it about most anime series. Ultimately what is important is what you get out of it by the end of the day; if the good parts overweight the less good ones, it means the series as a whole usually is enjoyable to some degree - Nadesico might have had its pacing and sequel issues, but that doesn't make its clever genre parody any less good or enjoyable. This is given i got REALLY sucked into strawberry panic in the second half of it (the first half was pretty weak) Marimite is great. One of my personal all time favourites. Whether you'll like it though is another question - Personally I absolutely abhorred Strawberry Panic. SP was a shamelessly trashy show, which in itself would have been fine, except that it wasn't even particularly good for what it was trying to be. The writing for the show was absolute pits, both main characters were terrible and utterly unsympathetic, the drama retarded and hamfisted. The only thing the show had going for it was the 'OMG DYKES!' -factor, but since almost everything else about the show was either bad or just mediocre to the point of blandness, it was just a pain to watch. Even the fanservice couldn't save it from suckyness. Marimite is chock full of silly super girly drama, but it's actually well-written for what it is - sometimes it's even surprisingly subtle under the surface of its boiling kettle of tempest-in-teapot plots. And it comes with actual characters that develop over time, instead of cardboard cutouts taken from Moe sterotypes 101 (note: which they still fucked up).

I personally used to not care about mecha or giant robots in general. The whole idea just seemed kind of stupid and, to be honest, it still does to a degree. But then I encountered the Super Robot Wars series. Although I liked the gameplay and the music more then the mecha themselves, I get the feeling I am starting to grow a soft spot for mechs (at least some of them anyway). As such, I would like to try watching a mecha anime and see if I actually grow to like it. The only anime I have watched so far that touched on the concept was Code Geass and that seems more of a story of political intrigue/superpowers then anything else (although, admittingly, I have only seen five episodes so far). That is why I would like to request for any recommendations as to what mecha anime I could try and watch. The only limitation is that it does not have too simple of a plot (simple as in practically a fairy tale).

I'm currently watching Mushishi - a really atmospheric and chill anime. The music used in every episodes is just amazing - it completely immerses you into the world. I actually find myself listening to the opening and closing songs where with other animes I skip them entirely. The episodes with english subtitles are available on youtube by the user Kopotori. Why are you watching anime on yt... D: http://niizk.wordpress.com/2007/01/14/mushishi/ You can get them via irc in DVD quality.

With Kimi ni Todoke, I am just going to save it up for one marathon, probably. Railgun is still necessary for me because the last two volumes of Index light novels had so little Misaka ![]()

It's funny so it doesn't bother me, but some things they just completely make up (like 'better save up your load for it', what she literally said was 'look forward to it' in a rough way, so...I guess that's one creative way of interpreting it, lol?)
