Is there anything super important I'm missing out on that I need to watch the previous seasons for? Based on earlier replies a lot of you didn't really enjoy the 1/2nd seasons. So don't really want to subject myself to that hehe.
Season 1 was ok, most of Season 2 was bad, but you jumping into Shana right in Season 3 without watching the first 2 is really crazy. You don't know who any of the characters are, what stuff has happened up to this point, and don't know what anything is. You can get by without watching Season 2 for the most part, but not watching Season 1? Crazy. You are essentially jumping into a show that is more than half way over, and asking if you missed anything lol
Not to mention even missing Season 2 would completely bypass critical plot details.
Go watch the first two seasons, then come back to the third. Seriously >.<

I didnt really find to much wrong with S2 either. You had the Pheles arc and then Sabrac, Ending was a bit lame maybe. There was the odd episode that dragged the plot at times, but its not like it was a waste of time as far as chara development was concerned.
As for all the supposed hate it gets, if people really disliked it that much no form of closure would make people watch season 3 and everyone who saw the first 2 seasons will watch probably watch it. Some will find room to complain as always. Its an ok show has been pretty much throughout its run.
People are watching season 3 for NTR. And the fact that seasons 1 and 2 are the best anime ever in the history of anime. Must watch. Dunno what made you (whoever brought it up) think Shana is bad.

Eh. I actually hated most of Season 2. People say "character development", but when it's forced, unnatural, and unnecessary, it really doesn't mean much. It spent far too much time dealing with character relationships (trying to avoid spoilers >.<) that didn't do anything in the end. Sure, an episode or two would have been fine, but when the entire season is dedicated solely to it, it gets old.
It's still worth watching, if only for the plot, though. Just painfully slow at times. I definitely don't think it was as good as Season 1, save for some juicy action scenes ^_^
Urusai Urusai Urusai! Why do you all need to discuss what was bad about Shana. There was so much more good stuff in both seasons, baka! It's...it's not like I'm a Shana fan or anything either. I just...have to admit there're many good qualities about it. Don't misunderstand. Kugimiya Rie is just a really...nice voice. I don't like her or anything. Gosh. If you want to watch season 3, you just have to watch the other 2 seasons to understand how good it is. That's all. Wh-wh-why do I have to explain that to you? Baka inu! *bites into melon pan angrily*

Didn't find much wrong with season 2? Did you not watch the first 19 episodes of it? The "Pheles arc" and the Sabrac part you mentioned are like a total of 5 episodes or something. 5 decent parts of a 25 episode season is pretty bad.
The second season only started to get good during the Sabrac arc, everything before it was boring as hell. Sure when Pheles actually showed up, you could say that part was pretty good too, but that was like the 18th episode of the 19 episode arc.

After rewatching End of Evangelion,I noticed something I noticed something that i hadn't noticed on my first watch; at the very end of the movie, Shinji chokes Asuka, but stop. After that, Asuka gives Shinji an extremely cold stare and says disgusting. Honestly, this has been bugging me for some reason, so what do you guys think about that scene? What is she trying to say to shinji?

tsundere
Anyway, HxH 2 was pretty good. Pacing feels much faster than the original, though I don't remember the exact original speed. They're continuing to cut scenes out though that I feel are important to the nature of the original story, perhaps for the sake of pacing. Regardless, I can feel how the anime really is aimed at a younger audience with the animation, music, and lack of the "dark" scenes, which aren't really that dark to begin with especially compared to later on in the story. Kinda regret not getting Sawashiro's autograph now; I liked her voicing of Kurapica a lot more this week.

There are entire sites dedicated to analyzing this shit.
The general consensus is that Anno was putting in random shit.
