It's basically a slow moving but high-damage RPG that has stabilizer fins and needs to be aimed at its target. Just look how slowly it moves. How can anyone with a basic understanding of shunpo or similar skills EVER be hit by that (unless they just didn't bother or were unable to dodge)? That has been my point all along. How can you refute such blatant evidence Forik? People get hit by that thing because Kubo sucks.
If we are using the anime as proof, then this shows it has homing http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20101207084520/bleach/en/images/e/e7/Soifon_Bankai.gif But as a general rule, I tend to be skeptical of anything that's shown in Anime only. Also, in this past chapter it shows the bankai missile with a cone similar to the one that appears when the sound barrier is broken.

Resorting to what should be scientifically accurate isn't the best idea at this point, given the whole vacuum/ice thing that happened like 4 chapters ago.

lets see there are 2 possible explanations
1) Kubo is wrong
2) the people who made the anime (who are not Kubo) did not animate the missile as it properly should
so either you think the AUTHOR of the manga is wrong or you think the creaters of the anime (which is a glorified fanfic) is wrong
personally im going to assume that Kubo is correct
Check chapters 360-361. That's when she first shoots it at the entrophy guy. There's like 10 or so panels of the missile moving to its target. It's totally fast enough to not be avoided by a basic understanding of shunpo, right?
And I don't know why you're talking about Kubo being wrong or correct. I said he sucks (i.e. his writing is so bad his characters can't avoid slow-moving threats to themselves).
In either case, I'm fairly certain the makers of the anime actually asked Kubo about the workings and details of something as important as a captain's bankai and didn't just pull something out of their asses.

panels are not a measurement of time...
look Quincies have a high speed move just like everyone else and since Soi Fon got taken down robot guy must be able to move at least as fast as her
erego if he does get hit then unless other in manga evidence proves otherwise the missile must not be slow and the anime dudes did pull it out of there ass
The only reason the missile hits people is because they don't actually attempt to dodge. No one in Bleach ever attempts to dodge stuff. It's slow and Kubo is a bad writer. I rest my case.

Seriously, I thought I demonstrated this with my logical process of elimination concerning the whole Barragan thing. Bad writing is the reason this inconsistency is here in the first place, so bad writing is probably why what happened in this chapter happened the way it did. It also conveniently lets Kubo expedite things a bit with his final arc, which might not be a bad thing. If this arc ended up being top-heavy with Ichigo-related badassness, it might just end on a high note, I would think.

This is the one and only reason approved by Kubo's logic. You don't need to be strong in the Bleach universe, you just need to be able to withstand every attacks while not moving at all just to show how badass you are. If you can do it, the enemy will have the moral necessity of doing the exact same thing when it will be your turn to attack.

I can't even remember ever knowing that Soifon's bankai was a rocket launcher.
