It looked cool but that picture does not show he is a good artist. There was no details on anything and everything was basically black and with an empty white background. The only details was the black stuff flowing in the wind but that doesnt indicate that it was good art because anyone at this level can do that. It does show was how well he was able to make something look cool while being an incredibly lazy artist is something to phrase imo. In some cases I would defend him and say that a detailed or any sort of background will take away contrast from the cool stuff he did with the black stuff flowing in the wind but Kubo been incredibly lazy with background art in the past 100-200 or so chapter further emphasizing that he is just trying to get away with as least amount of drawing as possible. | ||

Good art does not detail necessarily make. Which I feel weird saying because I have a huge detail boner. Being able to use flat black or white to establish depth or enforce aesthetic principles is a pretty crucial thing though, Kubo uses them well. Though I'm not the hugest fan of the picture chosen to represent that. | ||
