An indulgent, overlong movie with creepy AI-CGI technology, conspicuous contact lenses, and an aging coterie of Scorsese favorites made by, with, and for boomers.
Using the word boomer as a way to criticize anything is lazy and nauseous... buzzword of 2019 I guess, sigh.
I'm 28 btw.
well you’re from finland so what would you know about american boomers?
Come mothers and fathers Throughout the land And don't criticize What you can't understand Your sons and your daughters Are beyond your command Your old road is Rapidly agin'. Please get out of the new one If you can't lend your hand For the times they are a-changin'.
Anyone checked out Ford vs Ferrari yet and has a review or opinion without spoilers? xD I know the gist of the film in terms of Ford vs Ferrari as i am a motorsport fan and watch Top Gear / Grand Tour who have done documentary episodes on it, but just wondered if the film is good from someone who is not a fan of car racing etc.

very true.
but to my original point, i was not just saying “ok boomer.” i am saying that it’s a nostalgia film that appeals to boomers and that the critical acclaim is largely due to people who value a boomer aesthetic. unless you really like that kind of thing or have some other interest in it (maybe you are really interested in the life and times of 20th century mob families or the teamsters) then you will probably find it to be overlong, indulgent, etc. even if it’s well made
yea you’ve got the movie pegged from where i’m sitting. those are all the feelings i had. i felt the nostalgia, i appreciated the indulgence to a point, but ultimately turned it off because that can only fuel interest for so long, and three and a half hours is too long.

I watched it. Not a big car guy or anything but still enjoyed it. It was a bit cheesy at times but Matt Damon and Christian Bale put on a good performance.
Yeah that was what i was thinking that Matt Damon and Bale should be able to sell it to a lot more people, guess i will try get to the cinema before Star Wars and check it out!
The problem with new Bonds is that they're way too bland. I don't really remember much from the previous entries (I don't even remember how many Craig Bonds we've had so far). With Bourne series I can recall pretty much all of them, what happened when etc. With the bonds? Casino, uhh... Some desert and plot with water shortage? Something in Venice? House in Scotland? I have no idea which one was which (apart from the casino because it was the first one) and what exactly happened there. It's just random bits and pieces without any context and no memorable scenes to tie it together.
I rather them go back to the 1 secret mission 1 evil boss, tons of gadgets style. I dont think the movies all need to be super serious with crazy twists or having bond question his allegiance

Watched Abominable over the weekend and while it isn't anything special plot or story wise, it had very beautiful visual pieces throughout the film on top of some very nice music scenes. Highly recommend that for a an easy watch over the festive period with family and friends!
Abominable probably got snubbed because of the South China Sea issue, which is a very sensitive subject among the claimants (even the US and Australia are involved). Frankly, I'm surprised that Dreamworks included that scene in the movie. It smells of Chinese political interference in a supposedly cute animated movie.
Was an OK movie. Nothing super spectacular but entertaining and engaging enough.
6 Underground
Complete mess with way too many unnecessary explosions (that's Michael Bay for you) and completely ridiculous everything. I know it's supposed to be this silly over the top action movie, but even with that in mind it's just too much to bear at times. I can't say I've enjoyed watching it, felt more excruciating than exciting.
I actually liked 6 Underground because it didn't need to be a serious movie. There were so many holes in the story that I just gave up wanting to understand it after 30 minutes. The action sequences were fun to watch but that was it. I agree with the crits, but it was one of those "turn off brain and enjoy" movies.
