Yes. I really enjoyed Mandy but I think on balance I prefer BTBR.
Just personal taste I guess.

I'm glad I did, its probably one the best things I've seen for years. There's basically no plot and the film is all atmosphere but holy shit does it pull it off perfectly. Its got that horrifying creepy vibe like a weird sci fi synthwave bad trip nightmare. The music is amazing. I would recommend unless you like your movies to have a strong story with character development etc. in which probably not. 9/10 Have you seen Mandy? Yes. I really like his fantastic, surreal style. Yeah I love the way he uses film language to try and put the viewer in the same mental state as the protagonist. Both films excel at this. Mandy is pure despair and BTBR is pure drugged up confusion. That scene with Nic Cage necking a bottle of vodka and growling will always stay with me haha. Its so intense.

Contantine: City of Demons DC animated movies were always their strong point (unlike their live action ones). This one is no exception. A lot of mature content in there, the story is quite interesting and some scenes really made me uncomfortable. I applaud the bravery in making such movies, I want more.

+ Show Spoiler + Really good movie, I enjoyed it a lot as someone who hasnt read the book but loved the shit out of reading Stephen King in high school. The movie REEKS of Stephen King, I'm positive that Kubrick would have tortured the actors of this movie too if he saw it and had it associated with what he made. The movie really kind of goes out of its way to mirror the Shining in a lot of ways, which is kind of a point the movie tries to make, you know, passing on wisdom, the future generations learning from and being better of than the ones that came before, and the duty of the older generations to pass that knowledge on. Im mostly just mental to keyboard diarrhea'ing when I say this, but given the nature of the ageless hippy steamdrinker fucks, and the appearance of 'ol Dick Halloran, and Danny's issues with his shitty father being kind of responsible for fucking up his Shining juxtaposed against Abra's extremely healthy parental life and her extremely potent shine, really paints a portrait of "those greedy old fucks ruining everything for the next generation," what with the hippy steamdrinkers literal murder and exploitation of actual fucking children. Anyways, great movie, the ending where they retread the Overlook is really nice, granted the ghosts are really... fresh looking, and recasting Jack Nicholson? Bad move, they shouldve just got the real one because you actually just cannot replace the man. The Shelley DuVall recast was pretty good though.

Saw the lighthouse this week and i probably liked it more. It's not nearly as accessible but the film floored me. Still marriage story, the irishman and portait of a lady on fire to watch for the ones i could see making number one of the year. This is honestly a pretty great film year overall.

I was in Korea back in Summer when the movie came out there, but didn't watch it. It was a pretty good move and I enjoyed it, but I'm surprised it's getting such a good reviews from the West; I would not have expected that.

I found the movie awesome, well deserving of the praise its getting. The move is good but not spectacular. I guess that most people giving it like 11/10 scores and such have just not been exposed to non-Hollywood cinema very much and are not familiar with Korean movies in general. For me this was third movie from this director I've seen so far and I must say I liked them all (Parasite, Snowpiercer and The Host). Still, none of them had as much impact as I Saw the Devil for me.

Well it is definitely one of the most accessible korean films which is also really good, got promoted a ton, etc. So yeah there are definitely people who haven't seen a lot of non hollywood or non korean films who now are extremely keen on parasite. But this film also got extremely good reviews from critics where this theory doesn't hold up anymore. Personally i'd argue it's bong's 2nd best (after memories of murder) and better than "I saw the devil", though that's definitely a film worth watching as well, especially if one likes the revenge genre.

Really good film. Its like 3 films in one, and gets pretty uncomfortably violent and intense at some points. I'm a big fan of Neil Maskell in these kind of roles, and he does it well here. The cinematography was great and the use of sound is interesting. The music never seems to fit what's happening, which sometimes works really well and sometimes not at all. Overall 8/10

Using the word boomer as a way to criticize anything is lazy and nauseous... buzzword of 2019 I guess, sigh. I'm 28 btw.
