It's the most honest, realistic take on relationships that I've seen on film. It's the Annie Hall of our generation. If you've been in love, had your heart broken or if you're single, WATCH this movie NOW. Actually a really nice comparison, except that Zooey Deschanel can't act. I think the director said that when he showed it to the girl (I think that's actually her name in the beginning) she thought the Joseph Gordon-Levitt character was herself. That made him hate her even more.
Just finished:
My first time seeing it (or even having heard of it) and it's honestly my favorite romance on film of all time. It's a little bit in line with something like Once, but better imo. It's the most realistic depiction of getting to know someone I've ever seen outside of my own experience. 100% on RT with like 70+ reviews, and its sequel Before Sunset has like a 97% or something.
My only issue is that it's getting dated quickly. It'll make me think twice about using my mp3 player though. D:
Also recently saw: Primer - interesting and nerdy. You'll probably need to check the Wikipedia page after watching it. Certainly impressive, given the budget.
Pirate Radio (The Boat That Rocked) - Amusing comedy with fun characters, but nothing special.
Where the Wild Things Are - I loved it, but a lot of that is in relation to my own experience growing up. That anger and sadness is a bit familiar.
Waltz With Bashir - Very good, but pretty straight forward and obviously depressing. Especially the shocker at the end, that you know is coming the whole time.
Breathless - Beautiful classic French film making. Simple story, but with a charming, despite weak, female.
Steamboy - Meh.
Two Lovers - Definitely, absolutely, positively not a date movie. Joaquin Pheonix and Gwyneth Paltrow do an excellent job playing crazy people, because they're both actually crazy.
Ultraman The Next - DO NOT WATCH
Purple Rose of Cairo - My favorite Woody Allen movie. Absolutely sweet and adorable. Everything can be summed up with this line: "I just met a wonderful new man. He's fictional but you can't have everything."
Also feel I should make mention of the director's cut LotR, which I'm 2/3 finished. Definitely better than the original edit. Legolas is still a huge tool, but Aragorn, Boromir and a few other characters are improved.

thanks dk!
I can't believe I never heard of that one, just watched it : ) enjoyed it 4/5 for me. I also can't believe so far its been an economical flop and critics hammered the movie so much - phuckers, all of them, movie was great.
Alien + Apocalypse Now + When Worlds Collide & plus = pandorum + Show Spoiler +(movie has starcraft zealots btw, blue torches and all lol... bet u didn't think of it dk)

Just saw Moon and District 9 in the same day. I liked them both, but I thought Moon was the better film. D9 sort of dropped the documentary feel that I really liked half way through and turned into a typical action movie. I still liked it, I just wish they developed the back story behind the alien refuges and showed more of them. They did a great job developing the character of Christopher and his son, but I think they could have done a lot more to develop the rest of the refuges, as it stands it's a bit difficult to get behind their cause. Still, it was a good movie, and I'm really looking forward towards District 10.
Moon is excellent. It's pretty much a homage to old science fiction movies like, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Blade Runner, etc although I also got kinda Portal vibe from it, especially from GURDY. The movie is all about the ideas, not so much special effects and like all great science fiction, it really makes you think about your existence relative to humanity. Definitely recommended.

Sup Doods, I need some more movies to watch... here's the last few I have seen
I love Gervais, but this is trash. i couldnt believe he wrote and directed this. and what the fuck is with all the product placements?
this was alright. i don't really think i understood it. what is the significance of the first and last scenes of the movie?
I'm usually not that into art films, but this really moved me. i think everything about the movie is good
i thought this was very cool. overall a very smart movie. i loved the scenes between the two
this could have been really good, but i think its a little bit too melodramatic? it's pretty fucked up what tobey had to come back to (with his little girls) though, but im sure that shit happens all the time
I thought this was going to be dumb as fuck, but it's actually pretty damn good. i didnt kno it was by the guy who brought us EASTBOUND&DOWN !
Just like Juno and Thank you for Smoking, this movie is everything I hate about Hollywood movies. everything that comes out of the characters's mouths feel like they were written in a writer's room. I don't think the dialogue is funny or clever and not only are the jokes bad but they feel forced. again the bombardment of product placements kind of kill it for me. i think people like it because it's sad-funny(?) and takes people an emotional ride or something? fuck if i know .. shit is baaad

Yeah this one was kind of weird, but I have to say I really liked it. Great acting, made me lol quite a few times ("If someone could bottle this air, they'd make a million bucks" really cracked me up). Felt like a modern day version of Job to me. + Show Spoiler +The ending could be interpreted as him failing god's test when he changes the asian guy's grade, the ominous phonecall comes right after him changing it, and the tornado as well. But I dunno, maybe he was just cursed from the start cause his forefathers stabbed an ybbuk (or whatever it was called), and his son along with him?
Watched this recently, liked it. It's a bit weird but the screenplay is very creative and the acting is outstanding, especially by the little girl.
Great movie, pretty heavy though. It's also quite long and has a slow pace to it, but I have to say this is a must watch if you're ever in the mood.

Smokin' Aces: my GF recommended this as one of her fav. movies so I decided to check it out. It's actually good! Somewhat mob-related, drama movie that comes together at the end and has pretty big cast in it, a lot of big names.
Cloverfield: I liked this one the more that I seen it. Took me about 2-3 times to really appreciate it. At 1st, the camera style kinda interferes with it, its filmed liek 1st-person, like a real situation, like "Quaratine", where someone is running with the camera, so its shaky etc. But, it has a good plot and situations.. Like a real-life view on what would happen if something cataclysmic happened.

마부 (Mabu, The Coachman), 1961
오발탄 (Obaltan, The Stray Bullet), 1961
영자의 (Youngjaui, Youngja On The Loose), 1975
Films from the Golden Age of Korean Drama. Provides insight on what kind of nation my parents grew up in. First two focus on a Post-War Korea where people have to adapt to technology and westernization along with economic troubles.
