The World's End 6/10
I really enjoyed Hot Fuzz and sort of enjoyed Shaun of the Dead, but didn't like this one. It kind of lost steam halfway through + Show Spoiler +
right about the time the robots came
and the humor felt a bit strained at times. And while I liked the comic effect of the excessive quick cuts in Hot Fuzz, it was just too much in this film. The fight scenes were also too drawn out and felt like a pain to watch after the second one (though admittedly, seeing Frost start beating on people with the two bar stools like some rockem sockem robot was pretty badass). I did laugh a great deal in the first half though and thought the pace was just right.

ALAN PARTRIDGE: ALPHA PAPA

I had heard that this was funny before seeing it, and i was a huge fan of the series so i wasn't sure what to expect.
Well, it was bloody hilarious. I have never laughed so hard in a cinema in my entire life. The best thing about it is that one day later, i could probably watch it again and enjoy it equally, because i sure as shit don't remember a single joke from it.

The film itself is just OK, nothing special about it, Alan Partridge is taken somewhat out of his usual comfort zone to fit a 'movies' style story in there, but it doesn't affect him in a negative way really. Colm Meaney is excellent, as he always is, and provides the perfect unexpected foil for AP.

Laughs: 10/10
Movie: 5/10
Overall 8/10

Just saw this from the theater today. Enjoyable movie. The fact that I like mystery/detective movie helped a lot I guess. Lots of plot twists and fun. There are some parts that leave you hanging, but entertaining movie nonetheless.
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Strong movie. It was able to grab my attention for a full 2 hours. The plot is strong. The choreography of the fights was decent with one issue that stood out to me where one guy jumped up a bit too high.

My issue is with the insanity of the characters and their plots.
Also, I'm also not sure if the movie has a theme.

In addition, in the horseback scene too many enemies die to a 15 year old. Their enemies can't fight at all.

500 Days of Summer

i dedicate my 6k post to this movie.

god damnit it almost had me on tears ;_; its 9/10 for me in terms of entertainment.
what I like about the movie was that it was in the male perspective.
you can very much relate to the main character.
sigh it was such a heart breaking movie. it would've been 10/10 for me if they stopped at the bench scene in the ending.

the expectations =/= reality really hit me. goddamnit tom! T_T

This is about some movie I watched which I thought it was great, but I can't really remember the name, can someone help? It's a french romantic comedy movie. It starts with two male friends, and B tells A that he needs to move on from his previous relationship and find a new girl. B sets up a meeting with a good looking girl for A. The meeting is supposed to take place in a costume party or something like that. A and "the girl" ends up meeting accidentally and in the end her hat falls on a river. During the movie the guy names his dog after the girl which leads to an embarrassing moment at certain point.

I guess that's enough information for anyone who's watched it to remember it.

I really wanted to like this movie, but ended up being one of the biggest disappointments of the year for me. At times, I was almost compelled to walk out. I loved Shaun of the Dead, but only tolerated Hot Fuzz. I didn't find much, if anything, funny in World's End. There were a few chuckles, but for the most part it was just tough to sit through. I'll agree, that the first half seems more thought out and constructed...but the movie totally devolves into nonsense in the second half.

I know someone will go "a-ha but Rottentomatoes gave it 90%, audience loved it, and it has a very high IMDb score." True, but none of these tell me how I will like it. For me, it was easily one of the worst movies I've watched this year, and that's hard, considering that the bottom of the list is populated by Warm Bodies and Mama. It pains me to say this, but I would say UNLESS you absolutely loved Hot Fuzz, to avoid seeing this film.

4/10.

I usually dislike Michael Bay, Mark Wahlberg and The Rock, but I found Pain and Gain extremely entertaining. I'd recommend it to anyone who just wants a movie to relax and have a good laugh with friends.

Second this, was a pleasant surprise. The visual style and writing was pretty on point for the story they were telling.

How is Spock such a bad actor in Star Trek?

Is it a joke of some kind?

Watched Red cliffe 1 & 2.

Ah those war tactics were SO EPIC!! Finally some candy for me in fights.
It was fun movie because it didn't even try to be realistic about anything but it was on some kind of fantasy realism level executed very well. Like - it was in its own world very realistic. Like fantasy without fantasy.

Sounds like I hype it too much.

Yup, I was tempted to walk out as well. I probably would have if I was alone, but the people I went with seemed to be enjoying it for whatever reason.

I've lost faith in RT. They've been giving out too many bullshit "fresh ratings" the past few years to movies that really don't deserve it. The World's End is definitely not the first time. And I never trusted IMDB ratings. The actual quality of the movie is so ambiguous for any IMDB rating in the 6.0 - 9.0 range.

I am very much the opposite, I am considering seeing it in theaters for a second time which I seldom do.

I liked the plot and characterization and it felt pretty on point with me in particular, the whole eternal adolescence and desire to stay young. + Show Spoiler [minor spoiler] +
The first two pubs being the same was great, as were the ridiculous fight scenes.
I loved some of the call backs to older works, and the cameos (wasn't the guy Martin Freeman was showing the house to in the beginning to the young guy from Shaun's work who said "You've got red on you"?) I loved Nick Frost as the uptight type. I did hear coin op pub game come to life and recognized it right away. I definitely laughed super hard when Gary screams up+ Show Spoiler [minor spoiler] +
at the Network "Oh f%# off, ya big lamp!"

I am a pretty big Nick Frost, Simon Pegg, Edgar Wright fan boy though. It was really fantastic seeing people from shows like Spaced, and other BBC stuff they did making appearances namely Tyres and Brian or Michael Smiley and Mark Heap respectively. It felt to me like a neat-ish summary of the work they have done together since the late nineties.

I did get the distinct feeling I was among a small group of people who had seen their work again and again and again, which may account for my perspective on the film relative to yours and EpiK's

I didn't mention anything about male/female dynamics.

I meant the message concerning society's idea that everyone has to find "the one". As if there's only one person in the world for everyone that's perfect for you. The movie had a great opportunity to just say "no, there isn't this one person for everyone" but instead took a half assed copout ending where it tried to say that every failed relationship is a buildup to help you find "the one." While not great, the movie still has purpose.

It was also very confusing, but I've never seen a movie presented in such a weird time order. It's good. But I wouldn't want every movie to be like that.

Star Trek into Darkness was a pretty good movie. Most sequels tend to disappoint but this one was at least on par with the original. The storytelling is great and there is always suspense. I don't understand why everyone said Heath Ledger was a great Joker, but Khan was a great villain in this series. He was like an evil James Bond and his goal wasn't just to destroy or conquer the world. I kinda wanted to root for him.

Huge disappointment. I was hoping to see a fun movie and it was meh.
I don't get what is all the fuss about it on reddit really, such a bad movie.
I'll give it 2/10 only because they tried.

Kick Ass 2 was about the same as Kick Ass 1 in terms of entertainment value but there's something lacking.

+ Show Spoiler +

Also Mother Russia vs Hit Girl seems like some sort of mindless action sequence. It can still be enjoyable.

I don't feel like they're gearing up for a sequel with the ending but anything's possible when people see there's money still to be made.

The overall theme of the second movie is confusing. It feels like they keep changing it. Heroes create villains... so that's why we need police rather than masked vigilantes... but Hit Girl and Kick Ass are allowed to continue to fight crime.

The original had a really great scene where Kick Ass is defending some low life because he thinks it's the right thing to do. The sequel didn't have any of these scenes.
