Yeah I saw Godard's Made in U.S.A. as part of a double feature with the MUCH better Two or Three Things I Know About Her back in 2009 when it debuted in the US for the first time. I never even liked The Big Sleep so this one irritated me as well. It comes off as lazy and rushed more than intriguing. Even though Two or Three Things I Know About Her was filmed simultaneously, Godard's poetics and ideas are so much more beautiful and cohesive in it. Two or Three Things I Know About Her seemed like his main focus while he just threw together this other movie.

But then you realize it was made in 1966 and you are like, wait what?
Anyone who was into politics knew about this stuff in 1966 especially in France. They had already been through the Algerian and Vietnam conflict which were huge in France. Plus cinema was the breeding ground for the uprisings in France. Not only Godard, but more importantly filmmakers and theorists like Guy Debord.
EDIT:

Oh and for a real noir brought into the daylight you should check out Allan Dwan's Slightly Scarlet. Not only is it infinitely more fun than this Godard movie, I'd argue its cinematography is better as well.
Let's see... Great acting, intense imagery, disturbing beyond all comprehension. I actually couldn't finish the movie, it was too blood-curling for me. Ellen Paige has the most believable shriek in all of the land. It's no surprise its ratings are so low, people can't handle these kinds of stories. It shakes their picture-perfect view of our good wholesome American homes.
But yeah. Took me a day or so do bleach some of the scenes from my brain with alcohol

Because the concept is tired and played out now. It was far more interesting when it came out.

I still like this movie, but I can't tell how much of it is due to nostalgia and how much of it is due to individual performers.

eh I thought it was a mediocre film, it kind of had the wrong combo of trying to be a bit artsy but also sticking to the intense/real story. I'm surprised the ratings are low in various places but I don't think it's because of the topic, it just sort of falls flat after a while. It's appeal is the intensity/disturbed imagery, not the various other types of things the film tries to add in. + Show Spoiler +
looking at it again on netflix I didn't like the little out-of-body hallucination type of deal. That made it pretty odd, it didn't need something like that.
the real story is what carries it, not little carousel ghosty fluff
Wow, i watched this film because the trailer looked good and i remembered it whilst looking throug the list of new movies on Sky TV (England's version of Cable) and i thought i'd give it a try....well im glad i did! This film was great! An awesome little action movie with a nice brain teasing structure around the movie. Your always guessing at what the main charachter is thinking / going to do next whilst trying to decifer the plot in your head yourself. Great movie thoroughly enjoyed it and im sure any movie watcher would. HIGHLY RECOMMENED

9.5/10
This movie was much better than I thought it would be. Whilst I'd hesitate at 9.5/10 in a world containing films like Die Hard or Leon, I'd give this at least a 7.5-8.0 as far as action movies go. Definitely worth a watch. And I don't even like Tom Cruise.
There was a lot of hype for this movie leading up to its mainstream release this weekend. The movie is quite old since it was released in 2011, but was shown only at film festivals. The movie received overwhelming positive feedback, which caused the hype. I didn't buy into the hype since the trailer was pretty "meh" and its trailer was practically a copy and paste of 2008's The Strangers. I have to say that I was pretty satisfied.
The problem with this movie is that it was hard to tell if this movie was suppose to be a serious horror movie or a movie that is a mixed of horror and dark humor. The first half of the movie is quite serious, but when the kill count started to climb there was more dark humor in the mix.
The acting of the entire cast is quite bad with maybe one or two good scenes, but the characters were not likable at all and I really didn't care if any survived. The main character is played by Sharni Vinson, who was okay for what it's worth. What I enjoyed about this movie was how the main character fought back. It is common for a slasher and home invasion movie that the innocent are off hiding and trying to evade the serial killer(s). It was refreshing to see people fighting back, setting up defense, etc. The story isn't anything new, but it managed to be entertaining starting at the half way mark. It's hard to talk about it without going into spoilers, but I have to say that majority of the scenes with the Vinson's character is quite enjoyable. Overall, the movie is a 7/10 for me. It is one of the few slasher movies recently that I actually liked.

I was surprised by Jack Reacher too, but if you're comparing it to the most recent Die Hard, it was so much better. The previous few, then I understand.
In summary, so worth watching. Not so much the russian die hard.

Dang, wasn't a fan of this one. Lots of cliches (any film where a character says 'I'm just a drifter with nothing to lose...' I mean, seriously?). Cruise was decent enough, and intelligent action directing but not much from a story point of view.
At World's End was pretty awesome, however. I honestly liked it more than Hot Fuzz, although all three are excellent.
I watched Jack Reacher because of the recommendation. It was k, but definitely not 9/10. Lots of twists where some are predictable and some were okay. It was k.

Good comedy, it's like Home Alone aha
I think "You're Next, replaces "House of the Devil" for best indie horror movie of all time.
Despite a shaky and generic start, the film soars for the last half and while not quite as clever as... "Cabin in the Woods" its definitely scarier and probably a better horror film. (a 3 million dollar budget gets put to incredible use.)
Most horror films have like 10 major dumb things that characters do, and in this one there is like 3, BUT it ends up being like -20 and the people who have seen it know why.
Now You See Me(2013) 8/5/10 Pretty enjoyable film. Was going to see this in theaters but something came up. The cast is pretty stacked with Jesse Eisenberg, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, and Mark Ruffalo. Its a movie that can be best summed up as Ocean Eleven's and 21 combined into one movie, using "magic" to outwit the authorities and pull off cool heists. The plot twist is particularly obvious if you pay close attention to the beginning and middle of the film. Good amount of humor along with CGI, only thing stale was the ending which was very cryptic unless you could connect all the pieces of information throughout the film. Also, Isla Fisher looks like a babe in here, cant believe shes 37.
Plot summry: A teachers prove to the students that a dictatorship can reoccur in Germany gets out of hand.
Just finished watching this, it sure has an intersting story but I felt like it lacked something and it didn't deliver the feeling that the whole situation was possible or real(I know it isn't but great movie do give you that feeling). There were bits of boring parts after the first half passed and for me + Show Spoiler +
the sucide
at the end was not really necessary.
You should watch it. Good movie. 7/10.
I almost forgot about that movie, but that one is REALLY good ! Definitly worth watching
Forced underground by the next ice age, a struggling outpost of survivors must fight to preserve humanity against a threat even more savage than nature.
Well...Its been a long time since I've seen any movies staring Laurence Fishburne, and I usually enjoy to seeing him act. But this was one of the worst movies I've seen.
I only saw it because I saw he was in it, oh boy did I regret doing that. there is nothing original about this movie. Its pretty boring.
