it had a slow start, but it was a pretty good graphic horror flick. ending will drive you pretty crazy though
Title; Martyrs
dam this movie is pretty awesome! Usualy horror movies are fairly predictable (not that thats a bad thing) but this movie quickly turned from a decent quality horror into a very neat psychological thriller taking turns i never wouldve guessed.
Its extreme!!
I recomend this movie.
But before you watch this movie please get off your high horses and try not to think too much about how hard its trying to be "deep and meaningful" and just enjoy it. I have some "simple" friends who would find this movie really intellectualy stimulating and although i dont exactly feel that way specifically about this movie it really goes into some pretty dark subjects and doesnt skimp on the delivery.
3.5/5
Its almost like two movies in one. Don't know if that is a bad thing or not for some. I thought it was interesting but I can see some people say that it tries to accomplish too much into one movie. But overall it is a movie that I would say is worth watching because its just one of the movies that seem to make you just feel different after watching it. And by different I do mean to be ambiguous because it could be different for anyone.

Actually, that's from the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. It's how Ed McMahon introduced Johnny at the beginning. Glad you finally saw the movie though.

Yeah I just recently watched this, and I thought it was really good. It sometimes got hard to keep track of all the characters, as they really only introduce each assassin once and then its up to you to remember each ones name in face but besides that it was really really good.
Haven't seen 7 Samurai but heard good things, probably going to watch it soon.

Blade Runner - Been a awhile since I have seen it so I rewatched it. Not to much to say about it, it's classic sci-fi. I never watched the Directors Cut version of it though, might check it out sometime.
TrollHunter - Norwegian film, it's been in this thread before. Bunch of college kids attempt to figure out what is happening with the recent killings of bears around the country. They start tracking someone who they assume is a poacher but really tracks trolls for the Norwegian government. The basic idea of the movie isn't anything new but I thought it was executed rather well, enjoyed this.
Escape from New York - Found it on Netflix instant streaming. In the future, Manhattan Island has been turned into a prison, cut off from society without any guards, they are free to do as they please on the island. That is until the presidents plane goes down over it and crash lands on the island, then it's time to send in an ex-special forces member to get him out in under 24 hours or die himself. Interesting, and has quite a bit of action. If you are interested in Dystopian movies at all, this is worth a watch.
Valhalla Rising - After watching Driver, I decided to look for more movies by Refn. From wiki: "The film takes place in 1000 AD and follows a Norse warrior named One-Eye and a boy named Are as they travel with a band of Christian Crusaders in pursuit of a Crusade. Instead they find themselves in an unknown and unfamiliar land." It has an amazingly bleak atmosphere throughout the whole movie that seems to give you this sense of dread. There is also little dialogue spoken in this movie. I kinda feel indifferent, can't say I enjoyed it or hated it.
Bronson - A pretty fucked up movie in general. Tom Hardy steals the show completely, really opened my eyes as to what he is capable of. Looking forward to how he does as Bane in the next batman movie.
Project A - Jackie Chan, Yuen Biao, and Sammo Hung are back together, this time they are part of the police force trying to stop pirates. There are some really great fight scenes in this movie as well as the famous falling from the clock tower stunt. There were alot of fight scenes in this and they were all pretty well choreographed so it's above average for me.

Hey, I thought of going into this after I saw the trailer but got doubts. But if TL recommends it, I'll give it a shot. But I'll have to watch the german-dubbed version...

Better to download it then I believe. Dubbing is going to kill the feeling of UK suburbs for you.
one of the most classic black and white movies from Japan (1964). The moral of the story is actually really deep. It's not just a "trapped and try to escape" movie, the ending especially had a lot of meaning to it
Really enjoyed this one, gonna find some more of his work
I just watched Twelve and Holding last night. It was fantastic. I can't really describe the genre. Sort of a coming of age drama, but there's so much more to it.
I can't believe I had never heard of it before yesterday. It deserves way more attention than it got.
This movie is my favourite from all that I've seen this year. It focuses on a 48 hour period right at the beginning of the Global Financial Crisis in 2008, when this fictional company modeled on Lehman Brothers first figures out that their MBS products, with which they've leveraged themselves highly, are totally worthless. This means their whole company is about to go down unless they dump everything on unsuspecting buyers.
Great acting and moral dilemmas abound in the best Wall Street ever made. This film does a lot to humanize the bankers that caused the big crash, without going so far as to condone what they did.
