I was somewhat questioning my desire to keep watching...

All the anger and sadness over the Red Wedding just makes the other Stark characters and their respective plotlines that much more vital. We learned in the same episode that Bran's warg powers are capable of more than anyone in his group had thought them to be. The Starks aren't dead yet, they just got a lot more to fight for.
A LOT of stories involve a child losing his parents, only to avenge them farther down the road. People are just used to quicker plummets in their story arcs, whereas this plummet is 3 years in the making. The plummet is long, but that's what makes it great. This isn't any different than Ned Stark losing his head. It just gives the remaining protagonists more weight. Bran and Jon Snow aren't just side-plots to the King in the North anymore.
Then I realized this ^ AND that there were way too many story arcs going on for a 1h weekly TV show anyway :D
That episode has destroyed my soul. To be honest, i didn't even like Robb or his momma, but still that was pretty unexpected and brutal. It was a brilliantly put together scene though: the sense of hope followed by the total despair.
So after having a day to think about what just happened I have come to the conclusion that valar morghulis. I hope Arya gets alot of screen time in the season finale.
Funny, I had heard a spoiler in the form of 'the red wedding is going to be an important scene in season 3', but for some reason I never made the connection that it meant red as in bloody.
So first I thought 'oh maybe they force Sansa to marry Joffrey after all' (so 'red' as in forced). Then this red witch started looking for kings blood and I was more or less expecting a ritual murder during the wedding night scene (so 'red' as in Lady Red and blood and all that). Turns out, people call it red wedding just because.
But like I sad here, after the long love scene between Rob and his wife last episode it was pretty clear to me that at least one of them was going to die.
Btw. I would love it if the story teller (either the book or the TV guys) could use this opportunity of eliminating two important characters and not introduce new story lines for a while. The fact that they can not even show every arc at least once per episode is kind of proof that there are too many of them going on in parallel. But I am skeptical they will.
awww maaaan... really sad about that episode :/ Ned was the coolest dude and after he died Rob was the coolest dude. (and his wife the best looking women in the show imo). I don't want Bran to be the main character, he is just not that exciting of a figure.

I just wanna see Jon Snow going full man mode and avenging his entire family.
Oh bitch please, he tapped that. (thereby breaking his vows right?)
Although that would be incredibly awesome.
Why the fuck are people saying Jon ditched her for the Night's Watch? It seemed to me like he was trying to protect her by making it seem as though HE were the only traitor. She was ready to put her life on the line to save Jon from a situation in which he couldn't talk out of so he knocked her down to make it seem like he betrayed her instead of getting her involved and being hunted down like him.
I could be totally wrong, but that seems like a Jon thing to do. I thought he didn't kill the guy cause he just can't kill defenseless people. Is there even a Night's Watch anymore for Jon to go back to anyway? And yes, he already broke a vow.
? that's how Robb WAS portrayed. He lost half his army by executing one of the leaders for killing a Lannister even though this is INCREDIBLY hypocritical of him to do so when his mother committed treason and she's free. He also betrayed his vow to marry a Frey girl.

I really enjoyed the episode up until the now famous end scene, just because the whole time I was waiting for it to happen. I want to strangle someone. /rant over
Moving on, I don't think I've ever been more excited for the next episode. That is if I can manage to avoid the internet like the plague until I watch it first.. man I hate spoilers. T_T
Doesn't avoid social media after not watching the show live like every normal person.
Complains about spoilers from said social media.
I can't watch it live, I work late on Sun-Mon. TT You're right though. I should just shut off my phone and unplug my internet until I get a chance. Maybe one day I'll wise up..fml.
I'm really surprised by everyone questioning viewership, if anything I would have thought it would increase! I mean what the hell happens next? Isn't that the question on everyone's mind? Also with new characters being introduced and others getting their story fleshed out.. Plenty to look forward to, even if your favorite character or dire wolf is pushing up daisies. Shows and stories that progress slowly or hardly at all get stagnant. I would hope Game of Thrones never ends. Even once the TV catches up to the books. There is always something changing! Love it.
People need to realize that this episode flawlessly defines GOT and thus its popularity. Most shows don't even have the balls to pull off or even try something similar

I believe that Rome was pretty good in that regard...

Throwing someone into the dirt in the middle of a fight typically isnt conducive to their survival. In fact, it never is. Nor would it somehow fool them into thinking she wasnt willing to fight for Jon, given she had raised her bow, and Tormund spent the fight on top of her telling her not to throw her life away...
Oh, and he ran off on a horse and didnt attempt to bring her along. He clearly ditched her.

I don't think Rome killed off the main protagonists in such brutal fashion (not that you could really consider anyone in that series a main protagonist). Spartacus only did so at the end... because history. Not even The Wire, one of the greatest and most brutal shows ever in terms of developed characters killed, killed off this many "heroic" characters. Sure they offed some of the side plotlines, countless gangsters, witnesses, and main bad guys, but the main core of cops were pretty much always safe.
