It's like the masters completely forgot that Valyrians have dragons which is odd given that their cities were previously conquered by Valyrians with dragons and the Valyrian in front of them has Mother of Dragons as one of her titles. They think they've won and then suddenly she has the thing that her, and her family, and her people are all known for and they were like "shit, we weren't counting on that, fuuuuuuuuuuuck". And then she burns their army, composed entirely of slave soldiers in regiments akin to the Unsullied because why the hell not.
Sansa has inherited her mother's ability to have no idea that she is the cause for all of the problems they're having. "We need more men" says the person who turned down more men to the person who is willing to die for her and doesn't know she has more men. "I will die before I go back" says Sansa without adding the addendum "and I'll take 3000 other people who have no need to die with me because why the fuck not". Like come on Sansa, if you're resigned to your fate of certain death then just preemptively suicide, no need to turn it into a big thing and then do it at the end. Also give your horse to an actual soldier, it probably won't make much of a difference but given lack of cavalry was specifically named as an issue they really shouldn't be horsing civilians, even noble born ones.
That battle and melee was fucking beautiful though. Absolutely gorgeous set design, cinematography and action. 10/10
Also I'm mad about Mel being so useless. Fantasy means I accept that Mel can sometimes give birth to shadow assassins, that's real, that's a thing, that's fine, I suspend my disbelief. Fantasy does not mean that I suspend my disbelief when 90% of their problems can be solved by using their shadow babies and they've all forgotten that she has that power. It's more a GRRM problem than a series problem but I get mad when fantasy writers introduce a power that is totally OP, use it once and then completely forget that it exists when it would be really, really useful in dozens of other situations. Obviously it'd be a boring series if they just had everyone assassinated by shadow assassins but if they didn't want to go that route then they shouldn't have introduced such a powerful, useful and widely applicable ability.
Really nice episode, It shows that even after the death, Jon is an emotional leader, and something that GoT has put very clear is that this kind of people just die, He was saved by Sansa, who clearly thought everything better, even though she had the advantage of not letting Jon to know about Vale army. I was worried about Jon and Tormund, the battle scenes were very well done, nice stage, and very real confrontation, Rickon part was very predictable as was Vale forces coming in the right moment but hey maybe it is not the unpredictable episode of the season.

*Vale army. That was Littlefinger, not the Blackfish (he dead).
Sansa is human, of course who wouldn't be pissed to someone who sold her ,got raped , almost died etc. I think when she declined Petyr's help was normal reaction, she asked for help eventually out of desperation.
Also Dracarys and other dragon, spent too much time on that single ship, won't they be out of breath or something :D

it was a really satisafying end to ramsay, eaten alive by his own dogs.
it was also the more realistic battle i've ever seen, it was so fucking a mess like i expect real battle to be. i always wondererd how they discern ally from enemy in the melee. i guess ramsay dosen't have this problem, he don't give a shit ^^ the pile of bodies was somethings :p
but then wtf jon ? like i'm in the middle of the no man land, alone 500foots aways from my army ? let charge in alone 1v6000.... story of all my overwatch games i must run aways from an archer that is shooting at me ? lets run in a straight line at constent speed so he can predict and aim.... also story of my overwatch games
mereen scene was good, i was like why the fuck does this dragon spend so much time on one ship ? well they needed the others ship and didn't want to burn them all.
I really hope they burn all the bodies from the two battles. I'd hate for the White Walkers to show up to a well-armed army just waiting to be resurrected.
The conversation between Jon and Sansa was so dumb
Ok, I'm listening whatdo you want to say?
We can't attack we need a larger army!
Where do we get this army?
Don't fight!
Doesn't bother to tell Jon she can get Littlefinger and the vale to come. Somehow teleports in Littlefinger's army and somehow no one saw a massive army travel north cause apparently scouts don't exist in this timeline.
Damn that was frustrating.
Also can't handle a complete lack of military tactics. Hannibal could have conquered Westeros in like 6 months tops.

There was never any reason in the first place to attack. Like did he want to rescue Rickon? But Rickon was gonna die anyway.
Absolutely gorgeous cinematography this episode. That scene with Davos standing at the pyre was straight out of the Seventh Seal. The vignetted battle scenes were beautifully disorienting -- I was at the edge of my seat for the entire hour. Also really glad to see Sansa winning the game this week (finally)-- it seems like Littlefinger's healthy cynicism has worked its way into her.
I expect next episode will focus on Cersei, and hopefully we'll see what happens with the Hound. This season got off to a slow start but it looks like it's about to end on a high note.
Side note: I think I utilized better battle tactics playing Medeival: Total War in highschool than Jon Snow displayed this week.
Was it me or was this also the best the Dragons have looked? I imagined them being a bit better at burning a ship down, though I guess that's from the unrealistic portrayal of dragons fire (lol) usually in movies/shows.
Giving the fact that this episode probably was the most expensive TV series episode of all time, and that LOTV was made 15 years ago, I wonder if its unfair to compare epic LOTR battles to GOT. Most notably the ride of rohirrim vs the ride of the vale.
And after I rewatching the ride of the vale, I still felt it sucked and I felt no emotions. But rewatching the below video for the 10th time is still epic like shit.
I also think the battle of the bastards story up to the actual fight was pretty off. And after reflecting a bit upon improvements I think they should have gone with this direction instead:
1. The Umbers + more bannermen are still loyal to the starks. 2. Ramsay finds out that Rickon is alive and sends men to attack Umbers or a hit squad to assasinate/capture Rickon. 3. Umber makes an alliance with Jon snow instead --> Army size is equal/slight edge to Jon snow's army.
4. As a consequence, we don't know who will win the battle. Jon Snow's army actually has a chance and instead they can downplay Littlefinger's rescue/make it much less obvious. Littlefinger definitely shouldn't be teleporting to the wall in order to have that conversation with Sansa.
5. Perhaps Ramsay can outstrategize Jon Snow and gain the edge. This should make the viewers feel depressed since they actually had a fighting chance originally but seems to lose towards the end and its not apparent that anyone will come to the rescue.
6. The vale comes to the rescue at the end, and should be a similar surprise as when Stannis attacked the wildlings.
Relative to the original story, this one has several advantages. Rather than having Ramsay Bolton do absolutely nothing during the whole season besides killing Osha (filler) he will actually do something important by attacking the Umbers.
The Umbers will also act more realistically as I never found it made much sense that they wanted to support the Boltons.
And it's also more likely that Jon Snow decides to attack Ramsay since he has a stronger army and the Umber's would want revenge on the Boltons so they could push him to attack.
Further, this story keeps the viewer in the dark much more and is therefore more faithful to GOT S1-S4.

Ramsay "MarineKing" Bolton had tactics and army control out ass, he just needed to learn to scout better.
