Ramseys dogs dont seem like the type to just run away after all. Plot-related reason: Maybe they're ass at fighting, only good at hunting. All we've seen them do is hunt down one of Ramsay's girls and I think Theon that one time.
Story-related reason: It's an unspoken law of cinema that the protagonists cannot kill dogs on-screen (or by extension any cute animal). Too jarring for the audience to make further connections with that character.

They didn't even try to improve after all the criticism about it last season. You tell me this super smart and wise ruler king doesn't have a sworn kings guard who protect him? They were unhappy because he didn't go to war but instead tried have peace and prosperity? So unhappy all of them are ready for treason? What king would hire them again after this? And what was that Sand Snake girl going to do with a whip inside a tight boat corridor? He could have stabbed her to death in a second, come on. Lets juts hope Drogon is on vacation to Dorne to burn the entire country so we don't have to hear about this shit again lol edit: I still enjoyed everything else though . But Dorne is a real thorn in my viewing experience as it breaks the immersion. King of Dorne did rule in peacetime. Everyone loves him, so there's no need to have the best bodyguards. Maybe halberd guy was just hired to look imposing and wasn't a good fighter at all. We haven't seen him fight, only stand around and threaten people who threaten Doran. After all, Doran wouldn't really need a crack bodyguard if nobody wants him dead in the first place. What Ellaria did by no means reflects what Dorne thinks. Maybe the guards there realized "Doran is dead, halberd guy is dead, the messenger tried to run and got killed for his trouble... maybe it's best not to be next in the firing line". I'd rather live and continue to make money. Doran's dead. No point in going with him for no reason. Whoever's next to rule Dorne needs some guards too. We haven't seen much of Dorne outside the walls of the palace, so maybe this coup won't go well with the plebs. I think it's implied that whip girl wasn't going to do anything in the first place. Tristane can't fight for shit and it's made obvious from the point where he leaves his corner to stand in the middle (where he is vulnerable) and actually turns his back on one of the Snakes as he draws his sword. When they make him pick who to fight, they tell him that whip girl was the good choice because it allows spear girl to give him a quick death from behind instead of a drawn-out death from ahead.
the guards knew about the rebellion because they were shown standing completely motionless to attention. like they literally didnt react at all, right. otherwise they would have reacted in some way
2) whip girl was upset that she didnt get to kill him and called the other teenie greedy, so she did intent to whip him imo

The dialogue is so bad. The scenes are bad. The acting is extremely bad. And in this episode, her standing there with a whip, like a derp close quaters, holding it completely wrong.. Completely breaks immersion yes. Other scenes are so well made and every detail is considered.
My best guess is someone powerful in the producer team came up with it and nobody wants to argue with him. And said producer micromanages it so nobody can even mend it a bit. Yea its weird how poorly the Dorne storyline was executed. That isn't to say that is the only weird thing (Brienne somehow finding Sansa after killing Stannis make her look like Batman). But Dorne especially is really messed up. Brienne was there actively looking for Sansa. I mean I grant you that the timing is pretty 'fortunate', but it is a TV show. No problem there for me. More strange is Tyrion walking through the streets dressed as a 'simple merchant' as though the entire city hasn't seen him on stage with Dany at the fighting pit. And obviously Dorne is worst of all. Nice point with Tyrion, didn't really consider that...again, as I mentioned in the book thread, I still have high hopes for this season. Davos and Tormund can still carry.
I'm hoping Sansa carries. I really want her to stomp the Boltons, and I can imagine Ramsay hunting her personally after his father baiting him this episode. Also Arya is going to fill the blind warrior archetype now, it seems. Should be cool.

Despite the stupidity of some of the writing, I still really enjoyed the episode lol
You guys caught a lot of plot holes I didn't even notice. but i definitely did notice how stupid the ruler of dorn was, as well as the big black bodyguard dude

Meh episode. At this point I'm watching just for the sake of being able to discuss it with friends and the show being ahead of the books.
Dorne was bad, Mereen was bad (walking unprotected in the middle of the town, when you know Harpies have killed during the day). They even managed to turn Jaime into a boring character, something I would never said was possible based on the books.
Dorne wise, I'm really interested what the Sand Snake plan is. It's been establised that Dorne is small compared to North and that there is no way they can win against Lannisters. So I'm really wondering what they plan to do after killing the ruling house of Dorne. They sure did get their revenge for Ellaria.
Also, from Melissandres gorgeous tits to saggy old grannie tits, that was a rollercoaster.

I see that some people here and in some other threads hopes that this was the end of the Dorne storyline. If that is the case I am all for the crap that went down this episode. But I believe this only means we will see alot more of Dorne in the following season.
There were many better options they could take to bury the Dorne storyline, or if not at least make it somewhat exciting and political. For instance we never saw Myrcella die at the end of season 5. What if Tristane had the antidote and cured her? How would the Lannisters react to that, how would Doran react to that. Could they just execute the Sand Snakes and that was it? Or could they actually make it interesting with Tristane and Myrcella back at King's Landing, Sand Snakes escaping and Lannisters blaming Dorian?
Also they could go with the Myrcella died, Dorian executes the Sand Snakes angle if they wanted to end the Dorne storyline.
This way I am certain we will see some kind of showdown between the Lannisters and Dorne/Sand Snakes.

Jaime just has not changed that much from season 1 and is still saying the same things which is honestly something I have been saying all along.
We see him as having character progression because of the order to which we find out information about him but in reality he has always tried to be honorable but has often had to make tough choices and hides the fact that other peoples disgust of him gets to him by being an aloof know it all all the time. He takes his oaths seriously but since he took so many vows he does what he thinks is right knowing that "whatever choice you make you will be breaking one vow or another" so he just acts as he thinks is best and just lets the chips fall and he always puts protecting the ones he loves as the number 1 priority for him.
Basically for all the talk of his massive character change he is the same character since season 1 we just saw the other sides to his character which gave us a false imprint of a changed man but we see the same cocky brashness in seasons 4 and 5 and even only a couple episodes after losing his hand in season 3.

I can't stop thinking about how awful certain parts of this episode were, especially the Dorne storyline. Here are some hilarious comments I've just read on reddit, which I don't normally browse but I can't help myself at the moment.
"So they kill off the last of the Martells cause those Martells didn't go to war for a Martell and her Martell children. So now a Paramore and some bastard children want the Martell ruddlerless ran Kingdom to go to war over some Martells after they killed some Martells. Like that's what is going on here, right?"
"Show Briene must have quest markers. She manages to find every single thing she is looking for in just the nick of time. Literally the opposite of books Brienne."
"Why bother discreetly poisoning Myrcella if you're just going to jet ski over to the very same ship and just put a spear through another passenger a few hours later? If everyone in Dorne except Bashir and REO were down for all this, why not just kill everyone on the dock before boarding the ship? Get a Lannister while you're at it, revenge accomplished or whatever right? None of this makes any sense."
"Next Lord Commander has to make his first official command: "None of y'all are allowed to kill me. Let's just get that out of the way first.""
"So uhh, what was Sandsnake #3's plan there? Use the whip in close quarter combat? gg"

After all the pre-hate, overall I am happy with the episode. Dorne though, what. the. fuck. Feels like watching an entirely different show in between.

They should retcon the entire Dorne sideshow and pretend it doesn't exist.

It's going to be very hard for me to take the show seriously if Arya suddenly becomes Daredevil. I wouldn't even be surprised.

What if this whole time GoT has been a Marvel franchise setting up for a female daredevil to follow female crew ghostbusters.

Don't tell me Bran is going to become a Profesor X

he is not a Halberd guy, he is Bardiche guy

I kinda expected to see Bran too, they reminded us about every major character this episode....
Btw, did noone find it strange that none of the Dothraki recognized khaleesi? Sure, theyre a different tribe, but it can't have been more than a couple of years and the woman has taken over half the continent since. I also found it strange that when she then claimed to be a khaleesi, they immediately believed her and cut her free.

I guess her knowing his name was enough. it's a bit light but heh, it kinda works.
