I think you read that scene wrong. Tywin would never accept Tyrion as his true heir. That whole talk from him was to get Tyrion to listen to him.

It seemed too desperate to appear epic and really didnt stick to what makes GoT so good, it's dialogue between characters. Too much blockbuster action. No, I disliked it too. Maybe because I read the books already and the way I would have done the episode if I were one of the directors was completely different. Can't really say from the perspective from a show only person though; I guess I could say that I'm still hopeful for next season, especially with Arya's last scene.

also, i am getting tired of all the teasing the show inserts to further heighten the drama. Lady knight just barley misses fulfilling her quest after accidentally stumbling onto her quest. fireball throwing midget knows entrance to cave is full of corpses, doesnt use fireballs to preemptively kill them, or even just put a sign 'corpse minefield here, walk around the back way.'

The first was more or less only about the fellowship's journey, so everything felt more grounded and character's were dissected more through conversation, etc. Then you see The Return of the King and its just massive scale action and very brief dialogue. Holy shit, nothing pisses me off more. Everyone has their preference for what is shown on screen - and they're all valid! One thing GoT has done really well so far (IMO) is that it always leaves you wanting more of what you like. It never overindulges in a particular thing, be it action, characterization, politics, or whatever. If you want an in-depth look at what motivates Cerci, that's fine, but if you devote 3 episodes of a 10 episode season to that, freaking riots will break out! Edit: edited out mentions of the books in the quote.

He ran out of options though. At the start he figured he would prefer Jamie but could be fine if Cersei carried on his name but he learned that there was no way either of those situations were going to happen so he was forced into accepting Tyrion as his heir but Tyrion didn't know all of that.

There is nothing in the rules that says I cant say the show veers from the books too much. What possible spoilers did I release? "Temp bans for even the tiniest of spoilers. Just don't mention the books at all." Yes, we are being picky with this stuff. If you want to discuss changes from the books, go to the book thread please. It's not perfect, but it is what it is.

Esp. with Tywin dying, I honestly don't see the Lannisters as the bad house anymore. Not only do they get shit from everyone in the world but they have been through so much since the beginning when we thought they were just some smug fucks.

I understand the desperation not to be spoiled, as I started reading the books from the start midway through season 4. But I didnt even give the tiniest of spoilers. There is literally not a single spoiler. Can you not mention that the show is different from the books?

The Mod note says, "Just don't mention the books at all." That about sums it up! I'm sure you didn't mean anything bad by it or spoiler but they are (justifiably) strict.

The biggest thing that was reinforced in my eyes is that the definition of "bad guys" is ever evolving where at first we see a bunch of human on human action where there are some evil minded bad guys but all still human, and now we get to this fireball throwing girl with some old dood and bran supposedly can/will fly along with the increasing danger of the dragons? People are starting to realize that the truest enemies are the ones they haven't seen yet or haven't been paying enough attention to, instead of just that one house that did this or that other house that killed x or y. Esp. with Tywin dying, I honestly don't see the Lannisters as the bad house anymore. As much fun as the internal politics of Westeros are, there are greater threats that they should be preparing for. That's also what makes Stannis' surprise move to the North so interesting to me. He's actually doing the one thing that makes a King legitimate - he's defending the realm. Go team Stannis!
