The trailers show the flashy stuff, the battles and the epic one-liners, but they are deceiving. They showed the dragon shadow over King's Landing as someone pointed out, and I think it was right after Dany asking "would that be enough to take King's Landing?". The producers like to mess with us when it comes to trailers, and lead us on false trails. For all you know that battle scene we've seen several times might be something else entirely. Sure, trial by combat makes sense, but I think so many people calling it before the last episode is just too much. Can't be avoided. I actually said the exact same thing before the episode even aired. There was no reason to believe he would do a trial by combat based on flashes of a random fighting scene between Oberyn and the Mountain in the trailers. Yet so many people accurately "guessed" this episode's ending.

Discussing next weeks previews here is fine, but please but the discussion into spoiler tags from now on, and mark them clearly (Something like "Next week's preview:"). Valar Morghulis

Even though he might be able to win the trial by combat, his position as Tyrion's sidekick and sellsword are over no matter what the outcome of the trial would be. I think that is also the reason we don't see him anywhere near Tyrion's cell or summoned as a witness. I think he's just run off to find a new 'job'. Maybe I'm wrong and he'll return next week, I don't know. He just struck me as someone who doesn't give a rats ass about anyone else but himself. Not a bad trait to have in Westeros! ;p Edit: This last scene gives me goosebumps every-fucking-time I watch it. Dayuumn <3 Bronn is in it for the money, but Podrick (?) said it 2 or 3 episodes ago that Bronn is not allowed to meet Tyrion because he's under investigation himself.

And as Bronn isn't as dumb as he looks, he knows his fate is sealed with the outcome of this trial. A biased trial with only one outcome. He's been in King's Landing long enough to know it's time to make a run for it unless he wants to risk dying. Obviously I could be wrong, but that's just how I would react to my 'boss'' developments over the past couple of episodes. I wouldn't have found it weird if Bronn had come up on the stand to testify against Tyrion for the right sum of gold, to be frank.

There seems to be litterally no reasoning behind it and it smells like spoilers to me :| The only reason is that it isn't compelling. If Bronn is Tyrion's champion, then that opens the door to Jaime being Cersei/Tywin's champion. If that's the case, you do get the interesting duel between the student and trainer from throughout this season, but the motivations are all messed up. You end up in a situation where a sell-sword is fighting to keep his piggy bank alive, and a man is fighting to kill his brother whom he loves. It seems like in that circumstance, the best thing for Jaime to do is to sacrifice his own life to save Tryion, thwarting Tywin, and ending his sort of redemptive arc. I discount that because it would ring so hollow. But, I guess for exactly that reason I should expect it because GRRM likes to subvert expectations so much. I guess I just don't see how Bronn is a more compelling Champion than Jaime... Based on Preview Description and Future Episode Titles + Show Spoiler + ... or Oberyn. The reason Oberyn makes sense is that we know Episode 8 is called The Mountain and the Viper. We know the preview for Episode 7 says "Tyrion makes an unlikely ally". We know from the preview video that Jaime seems to be on the outside of Tyrion's plan rather than the inside. Taken in totality, it points to Oberyn. That being said, I think the Jaime payoff would be freaking epic, so I'll still hold out that it's true.

As soon as Cersei names her champion the mountain you can bet Oberyn will step in for Tyrion, what better way to get his revenge. This And in the trailer where there is a clearly a swordfight in a Colosseum type stage, the Mountain is clearly against someone who knows what they're doing. It cant possibly be Jaime who is barely learning how to fight again with his one hand

Tywin is acting as judge due to Tommen giving him that responsibillity. Can they really name a champion? I always thought the champions have to volunteer. I mean, for Tywin/Cersei there isn't a huge difference, because they could basically just "force them to volunteer". But some people might not volunteer to fight for the Lannisters.

Why would you even held a trial that could end in death penalty? Cause if the accused is about to be found guilty, he can call for trial by combat anyway? I can't help but these eastern cities make everything in westeros look insignificant. I feel the the power/number of people/apparent higher skills in magic resp. science (at least that's what I suppose they must have) should effect Westeros to a much higher effect. And those bankers, well it simply doesnt make sense to me how they could establish themselves as an apparently independent power without an army themselves, while people around kill each other en masse. What if somebody decides to pay them a visit, kill them and rob all their money? Do they at least own the city they live in or what? Or am I simply applying too much logic to a fantasy storyline? + Show Spoiler + Also this CGI in the trailer with sansa and littlefinger looks horrible to me. Almost on the "Tyrion gets dragged over the battlefield"-level. edit: Ofc I'm late to the party, if some points have been discussed before, just ignore me.
