god DAMN this show is good, I really can't find anything to complain about (I still don't like Tyrion as a character, but that's not a complaint against the show itself) and I really appreciate the slow pacing. Other fantasy series like Legend of the Seeker/Spartacus were too damn goofy and moved really fast. I feel like they're giving us a lot of time to take the world in and get a feel for Westeros before bombarding us with important events.
+ Show Spoiler +3 episodes in and the king hasn't even died yet. I actually just started the book, but I'm assuming he dies because otherwise how would there be a struggle for the throne?

can someone tell me what about the syrio scene was so cool? Is it just that arya is getting what she wants, her character evolving? The actual fight choreography? because the former i can understand easily, but i fear the answer is the latter, which to me looked bad. or am i totally off base what did i miss

Ned's "vietnamn flashback" reaction contrasted with the playful and joyfulness of Arya being allowed to do something fulfilling. It was like one minute I was laughing and smiling at cute Arya finally doing what she loves and being happy, then the mood suddenly turned somber as we're reminded of the violence Ned Stark has been through and how it's desensitized him. Syrio and Arya are also very cute in general.
(And I was happy that not all the short guys are total a-holes that everyone but me loves.)

shit i dont remember neds scene at all. i dont know what it is but i cant hardly remember half the things that happen during these episodes. each of the two "PREVIOUSLY ON GOT" im like huh? what? i missed that? and ty

Ned's standing in the background watching and the sounds of swords and battle and horses gradually fade in as the camera zooms on his face while Syrio and Arya are practicing.

The last scene with Arya and Syrio with Ned Stark watching was just awesome. I am growing to love this show so much
|
I liked this episode. Lot of subtle things happened, building up for future conflicts. There's a lot of unspoken tension that you can just sense. It's really a triumph of a series in my eyes.

I have found this episode the weakest so far. Something was off in multiple scenes. Even acting in couple of scenes was a bit bad. Also the Syrio/Arya scene didn't get me as excited as I thought it will. I guess I just didn't like the Syrio actor or the way he portrayed him.

lol my favorite moment was danerys got attacked by his brother then the nomads found them and saved her then they were like CUT HIS EAR OFF then she said DONT HURT HIM
and they were like WHAT? O_O
that gesture between them was only 1 second long, but SOO FUNNY

Yeah i figured that out. Xfinity doesn't work with chrome GG.
Super awesome that you can watch this with any account associated with comcast.
Episode was super sick. I can't wait for the story to develop. They are definitely making Tyrion out to be awesome along with Snow. They need to start incorperating ghost more for sure.
Can't wait for next week. My gf also loves the show so far.

I guess it's all about relativity, to someone who did not read the books the show moves pretty slow. To someone who read the books the slow is so fast that you only catch glimpses of the actual story.
guess some is up and running in a TV show that travels faster than light.

The scene with Jamie and the King was gold. "He said the same thing he had been saying for hours... burn them all." Perfect.

But I can't wait until all the action starts. Episodes are a little boring if you read the book. omg so boring. and i wanted varys to be skinnier and scarier. and little finger to be fatter and creepier. i hate seeing other peoples' ideas of written characters. lol.
They are described this way in the books...

Thing is that the added scenes are made really well. Dialogue and acting in them was very good.
What surprised me were the scenes with Littlefinger, I don't think he's as good as the rest of the cast. Varys didn't impress either but he was better.
And I have to agree that for a person who read the book, the pacing feels quite fast, but I think it should be so, no complaints here.
What worries me a bit is that 3rd episode had a lot more added to it, this time it worked, but I don't think it's a good trend.
And to finish on a positive note. I absolutely love Arya, her portrayal and actress are amazingly cute and fun. On screen she feels much more alive than in the book.

What is all this talk concerning the mad king who got stabbed in the back? Who was he?
|
God damn I am loving this show more and more!! I can't help but thinking how good the casting is, from a style and substance viewpoint (haven't read the books so don't have an opinion on the 'suitability' of actors, only their quality and similarities). Neds wife and Arya are great castings especially and yeah Arya is played by a spritely and charming young actress. Was happy to see Tommy Carcetti, awesome actor. Now all we need is some Omar.

Why did it look bad? How was it 'fight choreography' anyway, it was just a skillful man dancing around a clumsy but spunky girl.

The previous king, king Aerys Targaryen, the father of Viserys and Daenerys, who got overthrown by the rebellion where Robert became king

This episode was really great in my opinion. Not that much 'pure' action, but dramatic and filled with good storytelling, like the books.
