at the very least he would ahve collected the other half before splitting them, or maybe 1-5 tails is one half and the 6-9 tails are the other half I think this is likely. The sage had split the 10-tails when he knew he was about to die. He would've probably entrusted it to his brother if his brother lived longer than he did. If the sage's brother didn't give him the rest of the 10-tails... it wouldn't make sense because the sage only planned what he thought was for the best. If there was a better alternative that his brother did, he would've went with that... The sage split the 10 tails into 10 parts... the 9 had both good and bad in it for it to be a living beings (yin/yang). The 10th part is that statue the was summoned to re-gather the tailed beast to make the 10-tails whole again. I'm gonna rant some more, starting with the statue now that you mention it. My theory about the statue relates to the Uchiha and Senjuu directly, and their powers. The Uchiha can summon the Susano'o, which in its ultimate form functions as a suit of armor, for controlling a tailed beast. The Senjuu - rather Hashirama, because he was the only one who could do it - could summon giant wooden spirits, that absorbed the chakra of a tailed beast and summarily subdued it. The Gedo Statue is what you get by combining the Susano'o with those wood spirits, by putting those two powers together. It's the husk of the Ten-Tails, it has an immense life force, it can fight at the command of its controller, but its purpose is to absorb a tailed-beast and house it and its chakra, essentially a combination of the Uchiha and Senjuu's respective powers, and only people with the Rinnegan have been able to control it.
And since I mentioned Hashirama's wood spirits, this reinforces the apparently Buddhist undertones throughout the whole story, their names mentioning the Bodhisattva , the Senjuu of the 10,000 hands, the very name of the clan Senjuu, the Rinnegan, even the name for Chakra, I'm staggered at how it took me this long to piece it together.

This page kinda hints that the statue or the 'shell' of the ten-tails was what remained in the sage of six paths when he removed the 9 beasts from his body. It has incredible life force, which kept the sage alive long enough to cast the statue off and hide it in the center of the moon.

I agree that this story has a lot of bhudda undertones. Theres an old bhuddist tales(Journey to the west?). In that story, the monk represents the sage of six paths. The staff that the sage has is almost the same one that the monk has in the journey to the west.
Also, the sage of six paths created ninshuu, which is like religion, morales.. and the sage had spread ninshuu throughout the world. In journey to the west, that's exactly what the monk did, he traveled to the west to spread the bhudda's morals and values throughout the people to create peace.
The monk traveled while having to tame beasts like the monkey king and demons to aid him in fighting off bad guys and spread his belief. Even one of the tailed beast is a monkey called goku, who is actually japanese for sun wu kong, the monkey king.

I don't think that the story suddenly got interesting again just because it strongly resembles tales of buddhism all of a sudden. At least some people get some sense of fulfillment out of this.

And how sasuke and naruto are meant to be together. It's now gone into incest territory with the latest chapter.
hilarious twist yet again... dont tell me the war will end by peace talks with madara soon?

the 3rd hokage name is 猿飛 which is actually from a famous japanese ninja, the word 猿 means monkey and 飛 means fly, this is to praise the ninja's skill in mobility like a monkey.
there are a lot of buddhism, ying yang and japanese folk tale reference in naruto, a shame you guys will not understand quite a lot of them.
Sage in Chinese folk tale is even higher ranked than God.
there is a super well in depth analysis on what sasuke is meant to be: http://forum.gamer.com.tw/Co.php?bsn=04889&sn=494601 sad that it's only in chinese

It is really cool to see where it all comes from, though, and seeing what it takes from religion, and what it doesn't. It was a revelation that hit me in the face, and it's just another layer of planning that went into Naruto's story, and I think it's extremely cool.

Just remembered this came out. Seems like we got slammed with more info lol but we have some ideas about this before so it's not really surprising at all. I kinda wish we got more since as mentioned, it was Naruto saying he doesn't understand over and over again.

now naruto is the reencarnation of ashura~ lol... just how this ridiculous plot goes... dont tell me we would have to 'suffer' again of another massive flashbacks... simply WTF

+ Show Spoiler +Glad to see Madara getting his ass kicked. I know he's enjoying this fight but he looks pretty horrible and has alrdy taken way more dmg than ever before. Gai still has another move left and so far I'm fine with everything 100%
Also Byakugan was mentioned!
|
So chapter. Wow, much flashback. Such prophecy. Amaze.
At least Gai has been mentioned and it looks like he made a bit of a difference off panel.
|
Gai...still has something up his sleeves? How can a man be so based?
|
+ Show Spoiler +I can't believe Gai's fight against Madara was mostly off-panel.
Thought he had a Night something as a final move, didn't think it would be a moth.

C'mon dude, we've been heavely hinted that Naruto and Sasuke where the successors of the two brothers for years now. YEARS! Just cause you are slow, does not mean that the plot is going haywire >.>
In any case, Naruto and Sasuske will probably wake up at the end of next weeks chapter, or the next again(most likely without rinningang yet). Then after a long moral speech for everyone on the battle field, they will awaken their rinningans and begin fighting.
|
Eh. The sage hoped that the bijuus would maintain balance and peace of the world, but didn't think it would be as weapons? How the fuck otherwise would they do that?
|
Wow, what a fast flashback/talk no jutsu chapter. what.
|
wait sasuke is left handed?
