It's now gone into incest territory with the latest chapter.

Dunno why anyone's hating, this was a good chapter dammit. So Naruto and Sasuke aren't reincarnations of Six Paths, but rather his 2 sons, which makes more sense anyway. Although, Naruto totally has the whole lines-on-the-face deal going on.
And this whole scene totally reminds me of Neo meeting the Architect. He was the 6th incarnation of The One after all, so I guess, if you wanna know how this ends, go watch the Matrix trilogy.

The So6P's brother is still unaccounted for. Think madara inherited his spirit or something?

I think everyone has known about the 2 sons of the sage of the 6th paths for a while now, one had the spirit/strength of him, physical, and the other had his chakra/eyes and the comparisons to naruto + sasuke were immediately drawn from that chapter. I think it was explained WAYYY back ago by Tobi himself when he tried to capture Naruto after he failed to stop A from persecuting Sasuke outside the Village of Iron.

Agreed, this sounds about right... cuz there's 2 sons from Katsuya (sp?) that defeated the 10 tail tree beast and abosrbed it into their own bodies... so the othe rhalf.... must be what... the evil halves? where the hell is that brother?

Yes, but until now it was thought that Naruto was a 2nd coming of the Sage of Six Paths, since we didn't see or know enough of the two sons to say with any certainty about them. Hell, the Uchiha descendant had this swirly thing going on with his eyes in what we saw back then, this time we're seeing a straight up Sharingan. Though now, seeing Ashura - and the same tailed-beast transformation as Naruto - it's obvious of course.

But..but...The evil half of the Kyuubi was in the 4th

But..but...The evil half of the Kyuubi was in the 4th Well, that's the 2nd half of the nine-tails, which was a 9th of a half of the total Juubi. There's a whole other nine-tails potentially, depending on what Hagoromo's brother did with his half. But that isn't so likely, because we'd probably have seen it.
btw, wasn't his name Bagoromo when Madara was speaking of him? Maybe that's his brother's name, and Madara has a bit of mistaken identity going on? Or just poor translation lol.
I'm also expecting a similar scene when Sasuke revives too, but I wonder what Hagoromo would say, that isn't a repeat of what we just read. Or maybe this Bagoromo says it. Shit, I dunno.

I read a very interesting theory on the subreddit that either the mother or the sage's brother might be the reaper we have seen summoned/used by the 3rd and 4th.
|
The reaper's hair and horn seems to resemble the sage's brother more than the mother. Both the reaper and the mom have long black fingernails. The mother was called a demon and coincidentally it is called the dead demon seal...
But I don't think so. If anything, the gold and silver brothers look more like the dead demon than the picture of the mother.

the Sage died of old age eventually, his bro probably died first and gave his half to him then he split the whole thing
at the very least he would ahve collected the other half before splitting them, or maybe 1-5 tails is one half and the 6-9 tails are the other half

Ok, so I just noticed something about the fact that the Rinnegan's name includes Rinne, which translated is Samsara. The rivalry between the two sons of Hagoromo has persisted throughout the generations as we all know, but it hasn't been constant - the word reborn is used specifically, it's something that recurs, always bringing more conflict. The term Samsara itself implies this vicious cycle, because in various religions it's a cycle of life and death, brought about by imperfections like ignorance, it's something you try to escape - in Jainism this escape is known as Moksha. In plain English that's a liberation of the soul, leading to bliss, knowledge, purity, etc. This rivalry we keep seeing is something made to be broken, something Naruto is working to escape from, and he's achieved purity of soul already through his training. I didn't even realize, until now, the very name of the Rinnegan foreshadowed the structure for the whole story, this is so good. Even the appearance of the Rinnegan resembles the nature of Samsara, the various stages you go through to finally reach the center. You look at a rival(used loosely) manga in Bleach, and I think it's clear that story is written very spontaneously, and so it's been degrading rather quickly. This is light-years ahead of Bleach, all of this was planned from the start, and now it's coming full-circle. I'm impressed.

I think this is likely. The sage had split the 10-tails when he knew he was about to die. He would've probably entrusted it to his brother if his brother lived longer than he did.
If the sage's brother didn't give him the rest of the 10-tails... it wouldn't make sense because the sage only planned what he thought was for the best. If there was a better alternative that his brother did, he would've went with that...
The sage split the 10 tails into 10 parts... the 9 parts were the 'power' from the 10-tails. The 10th part is that statue the was summoned to re-gather the tailed beast to make the 10-tails whole again.
