My friend made this video. Watching him cut together all of the scenes during the heavy drum sections, using VHS decks, and synchronizing the transitions, was quite amazing. It still ranks as one of my favorite AMVs, because the music and the subject of those clips goes together well. | ||

Now I'm sorry that I'm here, I know all of you prefer people with nothing good to say to stay the fuck away, but I MUST ASK: Why do people love AMVs so much? I try to reason with it and look at it with an open mind as I do with everything else, but I'm not open minded enough to learn to tolerate AMVs and stay silent, I even openly complain about them at anime conventions (guess that makes me dumb and ignorant). I guess besides the bad first impressions (false and misleading vids) I have an issue with how people basically just take clips from an anime and edit them together with music, and then people worship and glorify them enough to have some huge AMV contest at an anime convention (Anime Boston in my case). Sure editing takes time and effort, but it's not a completely original piece of cinematography or w/e that I would praise and it's also not the same as a "frag" movie either. I respect the people who enjoy watching them and making them (the one's who put "AMV" in the title), I just don't like the AMVs themselves, sorry for being the negative nancy here guys. | ||

Everyone is welcome to their opinion obviously, but if you're looking for a reponse.. well you didn't really make any rational points to respond to. The title of an AMV on YouTube doesn't change it's content, so that's not relevant when talking about the AMVs themselves, and if they were original pieces then they would be apples instead of the oranges that this thread is about, so that's not relevant either. Have you seen some of the AMVs that win the big competitions? They tend to be much more than throwing together some clips to an over used track. Action: Sad-ish: Put you in a good mood: | ||

"Why do people love AMVs so much?" was what I was looking for a response for. Everything else was just my in-the-moment-hot-headed spat about how I don't like AMVs, if you didn't like it or didn't understand it, it's okay. I also did mention that I didn't like the AMVs themselves, not just the misleading titles that some youtubers upload them with, because hey if I did fall in love with them I'd be contributing here too. | ||

This puts me back 5 or 7 years ago when I was still a lot into mangas anime and ofc amv. I had some really good Gundam Wing amv (actually it was for Endless Waltz) with some rammstein soundtrack but I can't figure it properly anymore. Gotta say the Mirage Team shippuden trailer got me thinking to have a look back to Naruto. Now, shippuden was just akatsuki or is it a movie in that case ? Also; are there horrible filler ? Any guide or wiki to get back on track ?? Much appreciated. | ||

You've probably seen this one, it was the first AMV I ever watched and was one of the first "Linkin Ball Z" vids out there, at least that achieved widespread popularity. This one is fucking EVERYWHERE, people are always uploading it for themselves or whatever. Still, it's a classic. This is considered to be one of the best DBZ AMVs ever. Hard to disagree. Tells the entire story of DBZ in 10 minutes. Finally, my favourite AMV ever. One typo is the difference between it and perfection. Perfect music choice, the clips match the song, the editing is fantastic. I could go on. It only has 1.5k views over almost 7 years, which should tell you something about how oversaturated the AMV market is. A hidden gem. EDIT: Oh my god, I just remembered another one. First time watching this in years (same AMV just with better quality clips) and holy shit, I got chills. Tells an excellent story, this one. | ||

A great classical piece that just fits VHD: BL perfectly! A very dark AMV, but seems to nail the subject matter with top notch editing. And one more.. This is just a classic, made by the same guy who did the above, and the first video that got me into making AMVs in the first place! Edit: Oh! How could I forget this video, definitely one of the most technically astounding AMVs I've ever seen. Also, it's Naruto vs DBZ who can't enjoy that?! If you only watch one, WATCH THIS! | ||

This one is 6 years old and was then my instant favorite and still is. Tho I have to be honest I don't watch AMVs that much anymore as I used too. Reasons I like this one so much is that the creator actually syncs mood of the song with the anime and at points even lets the characters lip sync the lyrics. Anyway, wanted to share with you an AMV that made me finally watch one of the best anime series ever: Epic doesn't even begin to describe it. Another one on my to-watch list now: A beatufil AMV from the series that puts Berserk to shame and makes it seem like it was made for little girls: Last but not least, the most perfect AMV to date in my opinion (and the best anime too): OK, I can't actually find the one video I was looking for here, so I'll have to do with the next best thing... | ||
