He always has a soft spot for emotional stories and emotional people, and he's been similarly tricked in the past. The nice inmate was too good to be true, but Mike was also looking to latch on to any sort of support that he could. The first episode had prison break in Mike's two foibles as a character - he's arrogant about his intelligence and he's soft for emotional connections. It's also a hard twist on the show's premise that Mike got conned twice in the first episode. On July 16 2016 11:38 Seeker wrote: Blah... Such a dark mood. I miss the good old Suits where the episodes were just really funny and had awesome Harvey/Mike synch while they kicked ass at being lawyers. I mentioned this before, but you should expect it stay dark. USA Network retired its light-hearted comedy-dramas with the end of Royal Pains and is pushing hard on the success of dark gritty dramas, i.e. Mr Robot. They had a good decade's run of successful shows on that model (Monk, Burn Notice, Royal Pains, Suits), but they see the trends changing on other hit shows like the Walking Dead, Sons of Anarchy, and of course Game of Thrones as the darkest and grittiest of them all.

I don't really think they're changing their theme as much as you say, coverpunch :/ I think you have a very different conception of lighthearted from everyone else. Witty banter, sardonic jokes about institutions and self, and outsmarting enemies into goofy self-revelations is basically a lighthearted comedy-drama. The other examples would be In Plain Sight, Necessary Roughness, Psych, and Covert Affairs. They all followed the same basic formula. I think you're weird if you don't think House was lighthearted or feel-good since they solved basically every problem in an hour-long episode, but it was also a program on Fox, not USA (USA only bought the rights for reruns). House was heavier than Scrubs but it was much lighter than Nip/Tuck. It's nowhere near the Knick.

![]() Rachel should be sent off or whatever way of moving on from her. Prison part I just don't see how they can make it interesting but I would like to be surprised.
