Azula was an amazing character. + Show Spoiler +
This current antagonist in the bending tournament looks like a rich snobby kid, but they didn't expand on his character any more than that.

Better to get it out of the way at the beginning too I guess. But yeah I liked how the relationships n such were in The Last Airbender better because there wasn't really drama between them.
You also have to consider that they are a bunch of teenagers, drama erupts out of nothing with people of that age. If the characters were stoic and unemotional during a time of little turmoil (no massive war, etc.), I would think that the characters weren't lifelike. Though I don't care for the cheese that is being thrown around, I am willing to take it in, as I know its for the best.

What do you mean by "you took to bed"?
I used to sometimes lay in bed and think about the episode of Avatar that I'd watched earlier that day.
Think the bending tournaments a pretty dumb an artificial way to progress the plot :/. Not quite the same thing as going from town to town evading Zuko from the original.

Of course it isn't the same, because it is a new and different show. Its pretty much that simple. And besides the bending tournament is a stage for the characters to develop, and part of the setting. The plot and main conflict of the show revolve around Amon and Korra becoming a fully realised avatar.
This last episode went a little heavy on the drama/shipping side of things which I'm not a huge fan of but it still had some great moments and did a lot for character development in a short time. I'm hoping Amon and learning airbending are more prominent as we move forward. If this is the only shipping centered episode and they quickly move to more important matters thats just about perfect.
I think Bo Lin's sadness was a bit too comedic if anything. It's like they're rushing through the love triangle stuff to get to the other stuff to satisfy you guys. I think they're half assedly making a relationship episode and getting it over with.
Although I understand why people might have been turned off by the newest episode since it had a lot of drama in it, I think episodes like that are good to really develop characters.
Remember the episode of TLA where Aang and Katara gets trapped in the earth labyrinth? That episode had no real plot progress or action in it (if I remember correctly), it was more about building the love line between the two characters. Of course it's not my favorite episode and neither was the newest LoK episode, but it's good that shows have sub-plots (pro bending in this case) so the story isn't rushed. TLA had a lot of episodes like this as well, if it didn't then the show would be like 30 episodes long and we wouldn't feel as connected to the characters as we do now. When the LoK finally ends, I see this as an episode that fans will come back to watch.
At the very least, they've established that dating is a bad idea. The episode gave Bo-Lin closure, so we don't have to see him hitting on Korra every episode, and they have time to build a better/mature Mako and Korra relationship if that's what the creators are going for.
I don't know if I'm upset about the inevitable romance stuff being rushed and condensed or relieved that the main character knows what the hell it wants and isn't afraid to do anything about it until the last 1, 2, or 3 episodes.
Ugh...well I still have faith that the series isn't going to focus on the same things this episode focused on.
The fact that the finals are happening next episode is a good sign. The fact that they put all their emotions out here in just 1 episode is a great sign. Maybe theyll revisit the romance later, but for now theyve gotten all the drama out of the way. Theyre all cool with each other, including Asami. They see a threat more important to deal with than their teen drama too. And with the finals happening so quickly in the series, it shows me that the probending stuff is only a minor aspect of the show.
I have a good feeling that from here on out itll be less teen drama and more real avatar shit. It does still annoy me that we're going to be dealing with these relatively insignificant things for an episode or 2, but I'm just remembering that the original series had several episodes like that too (Ember Island vacation for Zuko and friends, Ember Island players for Aang and friends, Aang's nightmare episode, etc.).
