An underwater earthquake cracks open a crater deep beneath the ocean surface unleashing a prehistoric predator. Jimmy Green (Corin Nemec), prodigal party boy and son of the mayor, returns home to White Sands, with a scheme to breathe some life into the dying economy (and clear his debt to a mobster) by throwing a huge spring break party, the Sandman Festival. Jimmy runs into his ex, and now Deputy Sheriff, Brenda Young (Vanessa Lee Evigan). She and her brother the Sheriff want to close the islands beaches in fear of further shark attacks which would ruin Jimmy’s plans. Brenda calls in an expert, shark scientist Dr. Sandy Powers (Brooke Hogan), meanwhile the attacks continue to ensue.
Dr. Powers says it appears to be a sand shark, a beast which moves through the sand as if it was water. By accident, the shark is electrocuted, but it’s soon discovered that that shark, though gigantic, was only a baby. The festival continues, thousands of college kids arrive, just as dozens of sand sharks make their presence known having been attracted by the vibrations of crowd and the PA system. The most menacing beasts to ever rule the waters, now rule the sand; mercilessly feeding on anything that crosses their path. It’s a giant feeding frenzy and it’s up to Brenda, Sandy, the Sherriff, and Jimmy to stop the carnage.
I'm surprised there is no thread about this movie yet. It looks very promising to me. I cant wait to see it even if i doubt theaters are going to play it in my country. I'll wait for the blueray.

I think "Sand Sharks" will take the audience on an emotional gut wrenching journey.
This movie will explore not just what it means for human society if sharks could travel through sand, but also what it means to be human.
Only the most uneducated of film critics would be so harsh against this magnum opus. The trailer alone reveals a host of social issue's that will be adressed in this cinematic masterpiece.
Sand Sharks serves as a subtle parody on the irational fears that we as a society hold close whilst also turning around and warning us that we should not be so rash as to ignore fears simply because they appear at first glance to be irational. Surely, Sand Sharks is the ring master and we are all but clowns dancing to it's circus tune.
Not since The Wire has there been a cinematic production that will adress the issue of class in a way like Sand Shark promises to do. "Spring break is off the hook," so speaks an obviously uncomfortable black character. His voice seems filled to the brim with melancholy, a harsh life has left him unable to enjoy such hollow entertainment as spring break.
The partying people represent the middle class. Slowly but surely their numbers dwindle, but tell me, how so, how so?
An amateur film critic would say that the cause is Sand Shark, but is that so? Or is it the capitalist upper class that demands the party (laissez faire capitalism) continues despite Sand Shark?
Sand Shark is the proletarian, destined to clash with the middle-class when the true enemy is the capitalist upper class that forces the party (laissez faire capitalism) to go on, despite knowing better.
Sand Shark will tear your heart and soul out, break into pieces and leave you wondering what it means to be human.
Make way "The Wire" there is a new king of cinema in town.

How you even could consider that is beyond my reach. This looks like top-notch production value, original storyline (who ever heard of shark harassment with economic consequences to a vacation resort before? you could make a really good story out of that!), and cutting-edge CGI! Will definitely see this!
