How did that get cut? It explains a boatload about the scenes. You get woken out of cryogenic sleep, and there you have a lifeform that asks you, a lifeform that sees creation in death and even have rituals for it, to not die. Not only that, this creature was probably born the same way. Ungrateful git, here have some andriod.

+ Show Spoiler +This man is here because he does not want to die. He believes you can give him more life. Maybe he gets pissed because humans are a failed experiment in prolonging his (or his people's) life.
Trust in the power of evolution. Seed a trillion planets and wait for ones that evolved immortality to bring it back to you. Oops, the first ones back woke you from cryo-sleep, but they're not immortal, so you're gonna die.

A theory I have, which I don't think is accurate but I like to think it is:
Humans were never meant to really be special. The Engineers wanted to create "Aliens" all along. I kind of think this because the room that has the eggs in it is almost like a shrine. They also have it in simply storage/weaponized form in the ship, but that one room seems to show a level of importance. Why create a shrine to something you just consider a weapon?
Given that the Alien can be born from the Engineers, it's safe to assume they would also have been created from Humans too. So, while I can't guess as to what they would've done w/ the Aliens on Earth after they create them, I think it's at least interesting to think about. It also can be used to explain some other things as well, but it still doesn't make up for a lot of the other problems within the characters.

The film made me rage and laugh at how bad it was. Get religion out of my science fiction, it's insulting.

How come the alien ship alloy didnt compress at all under its own weight during freefall but got completely taken out by the fragile prometheus?

This is the best movie I ever watch.

The Prometheus was able to damage the Engineer's ship because of its ion engines, which is what Ravel was referring to when they were about to take off.

then it kind of makes sense in my theory that the Engineer (space jockey) waited for the human race to join them after they reached space fairing age to see the road the humans had taken since the cataclysm that happened 2000 years ago (see space Jesus theory) and seeing the greediness and selfishness of the human ambassador (Weyland) the Engineer went bonkers and was hell bent on destroying what he viewed as a failed experiment. Take in consideration that the black liquid is a mutagen that evolves or gives life but depending on the hosts' intent it will either create new life by self-sacrifice (Inca, Mayan and other civilization sacrifice to the gods for prosperity) or it will create a defect monster that will engulf its hosts and kill everything in its path for its own selfish survival.

I absolutely loved the movie. Seems weird that people are saying it was religious or something. Great scifi!

Movie was pretty good. The 3D effects were some of the worse I've seen. I don't understand why it was released in 3D couldn't even tell. Cash cow I guess.

Best movie I've seen in awhile.

the shock-wave of an impact of a ship that size would have ripped whats-her-face to shreds no matter what rock was above her. the air pressure would have at least caused MASSIVE internal bleeding and probably would have literally torn her limbs from her body. the engineer i can see MAYBE being able to survive if his ship has some BOMB shock absorbers in his captain seat, but tbh even he should have had his spine snapped in half from an impact like that.

Lol, I need to see one SF movie with aliens where something like this happened?! Please show me one..

Saw it last night. Blew me away. It's 5/5.

Saw the movie, it's really awesome. Some scenes were so well done. The abortion scene, the giant face hugger vs engineer and the whole beggining of the movie are probably the best. But I dunno how I feel about the plot itself. Seems that the most logical explanation is that the Engineers made humans in order to eventually breed aliens... Maybe? So many unanswered questions about the plot, I really hope they can answer some of these in a non-retarded way in the future.
Otherwise great movie! Could not take my eyes off the screen!
Oh and 3D sucks.
|
Didn't like the movie. Too unrealistic and some characters were just retarded, especially one of the two biologists who got lost then killed by a alien in the black liquid... cmon lol Good actors though
|
I'd like to start off by saying that the whole 3D idea was a bunch of crap, definately looks like a Ridley flick when you consider everything besides the 3D effects.
|
The movie is "alright" and it's unfortunate that I have to give that vague a description but that's what it really deserves in my mind. Not all, but certainly a lot of the plot is very predictable. The characters I feel are really split from ridiculously bad acting and clichés (i.e. geologist + biologist, Holloway) to almost film saving (Michael Fassbender).
|
Saw it yesterday, was okay but holy shit characters are so fucking dumb.
"oh hey let's take no weapons whatsoever!" "oh hey lets take off our helmets!" "oh hey let's split into smaller groups and get lost in those fucking caves!" "oh hey an unkown alien creature here is my hand you can have it !"
it's like thay always make the most ridiculously dumb decisions possible in any given situation :<
