For the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Also, stupid characters is not a given in scifi movies. There are some really good ones like terminator 2 or total recall where you don't feel not one bit of idiocy from the majority of the characters. I can understand that you purposely include stupid people in movies in order to "create" a problem that the characters have to solve but prometheus went way overboard. People are disappointed and complaining for a reason. It's ok to have a mistake or a dumbass or two. Prometheus was just ridiculous.

http://www.worstpreviews.com/headline.php?id=26030&count=0 "Prometheus" is set to hit stores on DVD and Blu-ray on October 11th, and will contain 23 minutes of extra footage. Today we have ten of those minutes, which equate to six deleted scenes. The scenes don't show Michael Fassbender's full conversation with the Engineer or the final battle that was meant to be much longer. Instead, we learn a bit more about the characters, including their motivations.

It's so fucking awful. IMO it's a shitty non-canon prequel to Aliens

Don't watch :-/ I pretty much walked out on all investment and interest when the scientist said "Because that's what I choose to believe". Stupid fucking characters.

For Ridley Scott, this movie is a disaster. I'd be embarrassed to have my name attached to it in any way.

W.S. is also more about the spectacle and atmosphere, which is this movie in a nutshell. Damnedest thing. Not that Ridley Scott has been impeccable before this, however. Ever since Blade Runner, Alien, and Conquest of Paradise, it's been a bumpy road. Gladiator was a spectacle wrapped around a bland story. Same for Kingdom of Heaven, although that film had a deeper message. But this... this is freaking Alien. You know? I'm just... surprised that it turned out the way it did.

Instead, we get a bad Sci-Fi movie. Unfortunately, their advertising was somewhat indirect on this, so it's unlikely they'll get sued, but still, that's fucking bullshit. I mean, you really shouldn't be able to pull shit like that. The worst part is that it was actually targeted at people who would hate this movie the most.

The more important film aspect is the subtlety of the real plot line, such as what the Engineers were really doing with these facilities in the first place. Another great plot twist is David's (the android's) hidden agenda. He really doesn't care for any human on the ship. He's more interested in the Engineers since they are, like him, intellectually superior. By the end of the movie, they hint at the real plot line so even the most idiotic viewer can enjoy it's subtlety. So I don't really consider there to be any gaping holes meant to just confuse viewers, as previously remarked. The only confusing in the film is it's ending. But I personally love mysterious endings since they leaves things on a more interesting note. Tons of novels similarly end like this all the time, and I really enjoy them as a reader.
