Prometheus is suppose to explore the origins of the human race. Scott has been teasing fans on whether or not a Xenomorph will appear. The latest trailer that was just released during WonderCon weekend has a scene of a Xenopmorph, but we don't know what state it is in ![]() hmm is that solid or liquid. + Show Spoiler + if its liquid, it might be bioformer creating the alien.

Dropships? Check. Marines? Check. Even the sound effects are similar. Actually, Blizz got their idea from Games Workshop's Tyranids (who in turn were inspired by Alien, Aliens and H. R. Giger). If you didn't know that, SC was intended to be set in WH40K universe at first but Blizzard didn't get the rights to do it (THQ did later with Dawn of War, EA and Random Games got it before with Space Hulk series and Chaos Gate). Pretty much the fist time a woman took a lead role in a film and made it work. I'd almost put aliens before alien, but originality always wins in my books. Aliens is just one of those films that is a landmark in cinematography. I'm excited by this film being directed by ridley scott since he IS the original man behind it all. However it was H.R. Giger who created the alien's look. I do not neglect the role of Aliens but it kinda didn't work so well for me as 1 and 3. It's like two different series: 1+3 = ordinary people put into extraordinary situation. No beautiful people, no weapons, just their wits and will to survive against an alien organism whose only purpose is to survive. 2+4 = military and their experiments vs hordes of aliens. Both of those movies have beautiful people in it, lots of guns and lots of people/aliens dying. 2+4 kinda take away a bit of tension as so much stuff is dying there that you kind of don't feel the same way. In 1+3 each death is significant. Also, SCV vs Queen and this whole Newt drama is some of the worst possible things to happen in this kind of movie. Cameron obviously went for what he does best: special effects and explosions over everything else. If you need to put a little girl in order to up the stakes in your "horror" movie you've already failed. Overall, I believe that Aliens would work much better without Ripley and Newt alltogether.

Heinlein, the author of starship troopers, even gets mentioned. ^^

Blizzard did say about their inspirations. Manit0u already mentioned it. Surprised seeing people not knowing who or what "space jokey" is. And there still are people who haven't seen the movies. Good for them actually. AvP movies don't stand even close, so reasonable viewer should feel a difference in quality. Any AvP game is better than those movies. AvP 2 still is one of the best FPSs story wise. Imho, if they wouldn't use Giger's fucked up vision the movie wouldn't be as impressive, too. His deep sexual themes with elegant and at the same time repulsive creatures make it much more interesting. If I recall correctly, his first "alien" had pretty much female body with elongated limbs and cillindric head. Facehugger didn't have a tube but rather a penis, they left the ball sacks tho. I personally like his artistism, but it's quite freaky. And I'm glad he's the one responsible for new-creature in this movie. Nobody else could create something new in this universe to feel authentic.

I happen to highly enjoy both. Just because one line from the trailer reminds me of the other doesn't taint anything :/
