Agreed, as much as I like the two episodes there was way too much stuff going on within the 40 minutes or so.

For me, it's mostly escapism and because I grew up on Lauren Faust's other work. It's kind of cute and I like the art too.
But seriously, what's the difference between a guy watching this and a guy watching Lucky Star or Azumanga Daioh?
I love Lucky Star and Azumanga Daioh. So apparently not much.
Okay, having googled Lucky Star, an adult male interested in the lives of young girls in school could be said to have "deviant thoughts" and a tendency to be emotionally disturbed and possibly a danger to children.
I... what? When did sexual deviancy come up? It's a cute, light-hearted series that's pretty much a slice of life cartoon. Did you even watch it? Even for someone who is a pedophile, there isn't anything that they might mind "attractive." How does interest in social interactions different from our own mean that they're emotionally disturbed?
But seriously, you can't just google something, look at it for a moment or two, and say "this is for pedophiles" when you don't even know the content of an episode.

Ignore the unsubtle troll AV. Look closely at his name and divine his true identity.
I appreciate your knee-jerking. Additionally, I'm not sure what my name has to do with anything. Furthermore, If you saw a group of ~ 40 year old aged men all watching a cartoon together about teen girls, Or maybe even 'wizards of waverly place", what would you think? I know what the more mainstream majority of people I'm around would think.
I would think "they're enjoying their show, why should I give a crap?". Besides, why should we care what the majority thinks when it comes to matters like this? It's just a TV show.
I'm saying that what you might think of as trolling is how people actually can view your behavior. of course, if you are watching these shows you're already out of touch with majority social moraes. I was actually saying you're pretty cool for breaking trends and ignoring social think, but how can you not be afraid that if some random stranger were to bust in on you for watching these types of things, that you might be perceived as a less than healthy individual with a problem?
1: Fine, let them think what they want. Haters gonna hate, that doesn't mean it's for pedophiles. 2: What are moraes? Do you mean "morals"? 3: I'd be more concerned as to what a random stranger is doing in my house. Or am I watching the show on a TV at Best Buy?
Lets say your sole interest is MLP and shows for children/shows that have focus exclusively on young male/female characters. How would that look to most people?
1: Your premise is faulty to begin with because very few people have only one interest. 2: It might not look "good" but it's hardly an indication of deviancy or pedophilia. 3: I ask again why any of us should care what the majority of people think.
Having looked through some of your previous posts on this forum. I can assume you're a traditional "men should be men" type of person. That's perfectly fine, you can think that, I just want to know why you think you have to impose your opinions on someone else.

Okay, I'm going to level. People started calling me creepy and pedo in channel on sc2 because I was pointing out why blizzard cares and bans people for "profanity", when I said that I know some children who play on sc2, so obviously blizzard cares.
And this got me called creepy because I'm not the same age as them.

Which reiterates my points.
No it doesn't. It just shows you were called creepy by some people who felt the need to tell you what they think of you. SC2 was rated by the ESRB as T. You know there is profanity in the campaign, right?
The post you referred my refutations to does not refute the points that I have made. It doesn't answer any of the questions I have asked or anything.
Within the last six months I've come across more references to demographics than over the twenty-two years before them combined. Have the self-described individualists of the 'Net suddenly become this very conscious of the marketing plans of a suit-behind-a-desk, or is there really nothing else you've found worth taking a stab at? 'Cause, y'know, most titles would kill for the latter.

In the last decade people are turning more and more inward and looking critically at what it is to be a person, and part of that is looking at age, as age has been of relational value to the world since the birth of mankind.
tl;dr, we're starting to become obsessed with age as a reference point for who we are and how we fit in culture again, after coming full circle.

Le'mme tell you something, lad; The only ones in show business who care about age are the ratings and marketing departments, and they're not ones for armchair philosophizing.
Eeeeeew... I was avoiding the thread before watching S2E2 and got back to see that bs again...
Let's just say I dislike it but don't badmouth people who have pleasure from a series about a serial killer, and leave at it.
On the episode, I don't know if it's the series or the writers that don't suit well to adventurous stuff. Of course there were plenty of giggles and I almost shed a tear when Twilight rescued Applejack, but not much storyline or context - I hope it returns to the usual style.

The "It's not for you" argument? Nothing to do with the subject of the work.
Because of the presentation? That's an argument as bad as "BW is a shitty game because it's graphics are old".
The idea that a work could be appreciated without years of dulling one's taste with crude and/or exclusivistic pseudo-entertainment (f.ex., by a child) is surprisingly often found quite threatening by those who've wasted their years doing just that.
So in my opinion the second epi had some good things in it, some bad things. It felt extremely rushed though and there were numerous disappointing things, Discord also wasn't interesting in this episode and the end was pretty stupid as I expected him to be able to do at least something about the harmony thingy as he was so confident but no. All in all it was pretty disappointing compared to the first episode though it had some awesome things like Flutterbitch pwning twilight. That sudden realization etc. was so rushed it kind of ruined the feel, this would have been much better as a 3-part episode.
As for my expectations for the season 2, well I have nothing. I guess we'll have to see if it's just like the first one or if there will be some significant differences.

what a crock of crap. its still my little ponies...
LOL you serious? Now I feel a lot better about my proclivity to watching anime and reading manga that have clearly more adult and mature overtones to them.
this is the definition of camp. Thank god the worlds starting to co-exist with people who are interested in different ways of relating to and enjoying life. i.e. stuff like this.
MLP is not for me, probably because of the sexual/ageist ideologies rooted in me that say I shouldn't be watching such a thing, but meh, more power to you guys.
But would you have problems watching a good slice-of-life anime with 6 22-ish year old female main characters? Actually it's really really rare to even find an anime like that that doesn't have lovelove-relationships. But I guess if you just see them as ponies it can't be helped.
Artist Milan matra, "Omamari himari", "Sekirei" "Gantz". etc. just as a direction of what I typically derive entertainment from. I'm sure I have watched a "slice of life" show or two, as a guilty pleasure, and I feel so dirty afterward. Mostly because of the upswing in the "pedo" torchburning mentality globally.
you've read the recent decisions in Japan to ban certain manga/anime by artists right? It seems like associating with shows meant for a certain demographic make you more likely to be considered a "deviant" who's existence is gross and should be removed from the gene pool.
At least, that's what I'm getting from all the societal outcry/pressure/what-have-you.
just like that video called "brownies" that was posted on the first page here... thats why I'm saying, its cool yo guys aren't slavishly following group thought.
I've also watched and enjoyed "Kannagi" and another show. who's, name I currently forget, that involved the relationship growth between a young man who's father is a drunk, a girl who's mostly sick and had to miss a year of school, and a disappearing esper-like girl who they all start forgetting, as he starts to head down a better life path from these relationships.
So what is the draw for everyone here 15-35 male that enjoys this show?
Oh what I mean is... Mostly if you want a slice-of-life type of an anime show with the main characters in early twenties and out of school it's going to be mainly a ton of drama or relationships etc. and is going to have some sexual things no matter what.
Can you even find an anime of just normal life without any sexual interaction or relationships or needless drama involved? I haven't been able to find one. This one's pretty much like that in my opinion. All the personalities are very well done and the alternative fantasy world is quite interesting. There's some good humor and the series has some depth in it.
I guess something that would compare to it would be the Aria series but I personally haven't seen that, I've just heard it being recommended a ton.

Though not specifically ep.3-related, I felt they wrote a pretty solid closure for Twilight's "aesop letters". I, for one, would be quite happy to see the show take a more open-ended approach with episode themes (and have her correspondence just serve storytelling).
Also anyone feel like baselessly speculating about what is going to happen episode 3? :-P
I just wonder if the general tone of season 2 follow along the lines of season 1 or the last two episodes. A mix of the two, maybe, since without Discord there probably won't be problems as big as in the two-parter.
In any case my guess is it'll be a Twilight episode like in season 1.
Am I the only one that doesn't like Discord as a enemy, because of what he represents? The idea of chaos being continuous makes it normality. I would've much preferred Twilight to have out smarted him, by telling him once the cotton candy clouds, chocolate rain, soap roads were accepted, it would no longer be chaotic.
