I thought it was kind of a let down. The first episode was done really well, but the second fell into all of the traps the first one avoided. It was spread really thin. After the last commercial break I thought "there is only ten minutes left and they haven't made any progress yet. How are they going to finish this? Is it actually a 3 parter?" But then they fixed everything in a 3 minute montage which was a let down. Discord really took a dive. He went from a fun dynamic character to horribly one dimensional. I think more than half of his lines had the word "chaos" in it. The anit-ponies weren't as much fun this time around. After the shock of fluttershy wore off she didn't have many good lines, AJ didn't make the face one, and pinkie pie was just annoying. Rarity was good though.

The rock being named Tom was weird considering no one else has a "normal" name. Also because my name is Tom.

"what's clueless and dripping wet" was the highlight of the episode.

I'm predicting there will be a lot of Twighlight X Big Mac shipping in the near future.

I don't think the elements of harmony do anything. When they do the hyper beam attack, it's a rainbow, which doesn't make sense considering their colors (It would if rarity was green, but my disappointment that rarity breaks the rainbow is another issue). Also, the only time the beam didn't work was when rainbow dash wasn't there. I think that the beam attack is just rainbow dash punching nightmare moon/discord in the face. Sure, punching discord in the face so hard he turns to stone is weird, but is it that much more implausible than a sonic rainboom?

Yet another perfect opportunity to stick luna in the background was missed. In the one episode she appeared in I though, "that's a cool looking design for a pony, I hope to see more of her." Then she never came back. To be honest, if they had thrown her into the background of a few episodes I probably wouldn't care about her, so maybe they are doing it on purpose.

During the Applejack flashback, I realized how much I visually missed the brightly colored ponies as opposed to the gray-washed ones...which was weird.

The vision that AJ saw never actually happened, and nothing happened to cloudsdale. I guess there is no reason Discord had to/should have tell the truth, but I was expecting it.

Episode started kinda slow, or maybe I just already miss the faster pace of episode 1. The touches of chaos were fun, like Discord drinking the glass instead of the glass's contents, and Applejack's brother behaving like a Bugs-Bunny-burrowing dog. I also enjoyed when the mane 5 had to wrangle Rainbow Dash. However, the episode as a whole was far too predictable, with nothing of interest happening. I was holding out for the inevitable twist ending... and then it never came!
So in other words, the touches were nice, the detail fun. However, the main structure of the episode lessened my enjoyment... leaving me feeling like I did when I first started watching these episodes

Twist endings... hm... right now I'm imagining a grayed Zecora in a now ramshackle hut, looking over some piece of powerful chaos that she managed to capture before Discord was again defeated.

Best part of this two-part story (ouside of Discord himself) was probably Fluttershy's trolling of Discord =)

That, and I liked how "human" twilight felt -- the plot rap-up may have been sudden, but the way her tolerance is worn down and how she treats the Elements of Harmony almost... casually? "Necklace Necklace Necklace Necklace Crownthingy", ha ha ha. I don't know, I connected with her when she's like "My friends are all jerks!", and then when she got the letters from Celestia (lol Spike). The plotting didn't have time to be smooth, but the emotions were there -- for me at least -- and I really enjoyed Discord. All in all, I loved it, despite it not being a western fantasy novel (which, apparently, I would be ay-oh-kay with).
