No, this is not a joke/trolling thread. We don't need more filler posts asking if it is. Remember to spoiler season 6 content, and clearly label your spoilers.

I know it was a lot of story shoved into a little space, but I couldn't help but thing of all the fan fiction fodder being generated. + Show Spoiler + That, and I liked how "human" twilight felt -- the plot rap-up may have been sudden, but the way her tolerance is worn down and how she treats the Elements of Harmony almost... casually? "Necklace Necklace Necklace Necklace Crownthingy", ha ha ha. I don't know, I connected with her when she's like "My friends are all jerks!", and then when she got the letters from Celestia (lol Spike). The plotting didn't have time to be smooth, but the emotions were there -- for me at least -- and I really enjoyed Discord. All in all, I loved it, despite it not being a western fantasy novel (which, apparently, I would be ay-oh-kay with). I very much agree with this. I understand how some people can be upset with the way the plot panned out, but the characters themselves were golden in this episode. I don't know about anyone else, but the main reason I love this show is the characters! I've watched it 3 times already, it was so good.

(Are we still spoilering episode 2?) + Show Spoiler + Well, the jokes were great, I'll say that. And boy were they numerous: the new Apple family, Bob, Rainbow Dash 2.0, the Jaws reference with catching Dash, the Star Wars reference, a pony literally walking on the fourth wall, just tons of them really. But wow, they really mismanaged their time with the plot. They spent a LOT of time here with Dischord just gloating and reveling in chaos, well over a tenth of the episode I think. On the other hand, once Twilight has her revelation she literally magics away all the cast's problems (save for Dash) in under a minute. Then Dischord just sits there and lets the group beat him despite supposedly being far more clever than that. It's a really bad example of deus ex machina and it hurt to watch it happen. A lot more time should have been spent giving meaning to the redemption of the main characters. Anyway, here's the summary of a couple hours with Jayson Thiessen at BroNYcon. My personal favorite parts were hearing about how Applebuck Season was originally about head trauma and how the jokes are generally added in at random by creative staff members when they're told to make something, so the show ends up being produced for the team that makes it rather than any audience including the "target demographic". I really wish people who have their heads up their asses and keep calling the show's fans really offensive, idiotic labels like "pedophiles" without even thinking about what they are saying would take the time to read through all these interviews we get, which on their own are enough to explain why the show is what it is.

There wasn't much to do with the "un-discording" of the characters. Twilight was hilarious when freaking out, and when she read the letter was the most adorable thing ever. There wasn't much else she would do; memories of their friendship was what was necessary to fix themselves. I do agree they should have given more time when showing Fluttershy for instance, as all we got was AJ having her roped-down and Twilight fixing her. The only thing I found disappointing was that Discord was turned into stone again - but heck, that doesn't stop him from coming back in a future episode right? - and that he wouldn't care to notice that his enemies were strong again. All-in-all, the episode was very enjoyable. Every character was hilarious in it, and the plot was just as heart-warming as ever - again, I loved Twilight reading the letters and fixing herself that way. Compare it to, say, Owl's Well that Ends Well(S01E24). I do agree that it could stand as a 90min movie for MLP, but maybe we get something even better as for the movie when it comes(and it WILL come eventually)? :D

+ Show Spoiler + For example, when they find Rainbow. They go looking for her all over Cloudsdale(they say), and end up finding Rainbow by the chance of pinkie seeing her(not to mention Fluttershy was just flying right around there). I find this a bit lazy, along with the first five minutes of part one. I'll tie in an example where they have shown they can do better. In Sonic Rainboom when they want to go support Rainbow in the best young flyer competition, Twilight looks for a spell to give them wings. This also has a quick solution, but the reasoning is that it landed on Pinkie's face when Rainbow knocked her into the bookcase. The difference seems small, but to me it's a big deal. Not only does it have an explination, but it ties it in to another part of the episode in an entertaining way. That being said I'm still enjoying the season a lot, and can't wait for the rest of it.

Think of it less as laziness and more as trying to fit a big story in only 40 minutes. It's hard to do, but I understand your concern. + Show Spoiler + I personally really liked the part where Twilight rereads the letters she wrote to Celestia and gets her colour back. I think it's a shame that they didn't spend more time developing this aspect of the story, ie the characters remembering their friendship. I think it's the key moral part, always stick together. Not to mention that a few hilarious scenes could have existed had they really developed the part where friends-again ponies confront the gray ones. Especially with flutterbitch. They did that only for Rainbow Dash for some reason. I think that maybe it would have been better to have twilight actually talk to her friends instead of using a spell, but here I'm just echoing the person I quoted, there was a lot of potential that wasn't used because of the lack of time. Who would have thought? Maybe a 3 parter would have been better. ;p

Maybe a 3 parter would have been better. ;p And here is where the target audience works against us. I'm not saying little kids are not capable of following a storyline throughout multiple episodes, but considering that the episodes are being shown weeks apart on tv (I don't follow when they are re-aired but), and add to that the fact that sometimes even people of our age need to rewatch a new episode to really catch everything or rewatch an older one to remember it... So yeah, it kinda had to be either a two-parter, or a movie. I think a movie will be inevitable eventually anyway, but with a different topic of course. Let's just hope they won't team up with Michael Bay for it; anyone but him... my little explosions... just no... teaming up with someone like Christopher Nolan on the other hand... =)

WE PETITION THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO: Aid the Lunar Revolution in overthrowing the oppressive Celestian regime in Equestria. While we acknowledge and support freedom fighters in places like Egypt, Syria, and the recently liberated Libya, we continue to ignore the merciless bloodshed in Equestria. Inspired by other members of the Arab Spring, Equestrians, have began rioting on Canterlot square. Princess Celestia -- who has had a long and wearied history of impounding and silencing those who have spoken out against her -- has responded by firing on her own citizens, using chemical, biological, and magical weapons -- all of which have been banned by the Geneva Convention. We demand that the Obama administration take action on these human rights violations, and send the Marines to aid in these poor Equestrians fighting for freedom. 222 sigs right now. I hate repetitions, but more than that I hate repetitions with recaps. Argh! If every pony from the 4 (or 5, including Rainbow Dash) had shown their memories from the season 1 episodes, that would be just awful. In my opinion of course.
