Right now there are survivors and survivors. You can clearly see who got over the zombie-infection and who still has the potential to turn into a walker when they die. Hershell being able to take care of the ill without getting any symptoms has a realistic explaination. He was bit and had his leg cut off, therefore he has immunity to the illness that seems somewhat harsher on the people that are still zombie-infected (who coughs blood up from a regular cold normally? No one).
Secondly there's Carl. Carl back in Season 2 got shot and he nearly died. I believe, that this is the reason why he also isn't getting the cold that kills people. Rick as well got into a coma BEFORE the zombie attack and SURVIVED and therefore he's also "cured". This also makes it possible for Glenn to get the sickness (which he did), because he hasn't had a near-death experience. shaky explanations. This isn't LOST, i'd guess they're still trying to make a little bit of sense here.
if they turned it into LOST, I would be pretty excited. They all find out they are in some Darma experiment in the end.

Are you implying that the flu, or whatever sickness everyone has is from the zombie infection? You're making multiple assumptions to tie this together.

who told the producers that the cheesy music in the beginning was a good idea. are we supposed to feel sorry for him or something? lol jesus this show is bad.

Wow, this episode had absolutely no connection to anything. I didn't give one shit about these new people, and I wish the zombie horde at the end had killed all of them. Why do these people matter? What's going on at the prison? Why are they suddenly making the governor sympathetic after he's already committed terrible, unforgivable atrocities? Jeesh, what a throwaway episode.
And it looks like there's going to be another one next week just like it. I think I'm going to clock out here, folks.

Probably the only good point is the governor looking a lot like big boss.

Glad I'm not the only one who was thinking of MGS >_>

Aside from the show screaming at us to see the obvious connection Meagan and the Governor were going to develop (cause his daughter is dead remember..REMEMBER?! AHHH), and the chick twisting her ankle at the worst possible time and the girl just standing there....ANNNND the Governor killing zombies with his bare fucking hands (okay this was actually badass, even if it seemed a little ridiculous) I liked this ep.
I can't even begin to wrap my head around why people hate on the governor so much. This is a great direction to take the show imo. I need a break from Rick's group and it's nice to see them develop the non-megalomaniac side of the Governor after his fall. Especially knowing he eventually intersects with Rick's group again...
I give the ep a 6/10

Last two episodes comments:
Episode 5 Decent episode I'd say by the show's standards. I guess we got rid of the boring sickness plot, I was fearing this would last the whole season or something. Now I'd like them to just get out of the freaking prison, there is a limit as to how much hours in this dull environment I can support. Or give us more outside jobs at least. Hershel keeps his spot among my favorite characters list with Daryl, and Carl moves up in it. Now that I think about it, this season is the only one where I'm not too annoyed by a character (so far). They got rid of all the worst ones like "the terrible actress from prison break", Shane and Andrea (damn S2 was unwatchable). Not really digging another go with the Governor, that's what made S3 so dumb for me.
Episode 6 In my opinion that was a very good episode, among the bests this series has to offer. Most of my complaints for this show were not in this one: -A lot of stuff happened. It's a feat for TWD to not drag a story more than it should. They were for once able to tell a simple story in 45min. Last time they did that was in Season 3 when they meet Morgan and S01E01. It's certainly not the most original story, and it's not with the main characters, but at least I wasn't bored. Many scenes, many places, likes it. -Zombies were a threat ! It's been a while we haven't see some sort of struggle with zombies. It's usually a headshot fest or boot smashing galore with the characters barely being afraid of them (remember Tyrese shruging zombies like leaves in episode 3 ?). Sure he kills them with his hands in the last scene, but compared to the rest of the show there was something there. -It doesn't take place in the freaking prison. I'm so bored with it. This episode featured quite a lot of places for a nice change. -It maintained a reasonable degree of consistency.
It's difficult to really root for the governor obviously but that ain't a problem. As much as I want him dead it isn't something that makes or breaks an episode and it makes him not so uni-dimensional anymore. Sadly, this episode probably will get a lot of shit because its outside of the main plot though. Which is sad, the writing was there for once.
The sad part is that the episode end up with the governor meeting his old crew and his old standard vilain boring sidekick. This means we're probably back to the kind of stuff that made S3 awful.

Meh I really liked this episode. I thought that it being disconnected was good in a way. Let them tell a focused story. Those new girls aren't terribly memorable but they worked just fine for the episode. I think they got off to a good start in telling a really interesting story about the governor. Let's see if they can keep it compelling or stray into cliche for the sake of telling an easier story.

Best episode this whole season so far. It's a bit ironic that it featured a total of 0 of the Atlanta survivors. I think the prison is just getting old.
Honestly I was half expecting Carol to show up and save the day. Looking forward to the next episode.

I am quite relieved to know that pinky swears will survive a zombie apocalypse.
I actually really liked this episode. It makes me interested to see what happens to the Gov. to turn him back into the guy who is leading zombies to the prison.

This takes place before the Governer scene at the end of episode 5? Damn, I hope that doesn't mean something happens to his new group :[
Edit: I have a feeling the guvna is outside the prison so that he can lead the girls to safety while knowing he probably won't be accepted.

was really hard to see this episode, I didn't like it at all. why do we need to see the governor as if he was a saint? he's with this new family for 2 days and suddenly, he is their new protector, the new dad and already fuck one of the woman? didn't they live together for so long that now they need a guy to help them for everything? "can you go there and take this for us? omg you are so kind! <3 <3" and the end.. killing zombies with bare hands, yeah sure -_-

No, the flu is enhanced BY the zombie infection and near-death experiences or infections cures you. So far we know that:
- Everyone is infected - When you die, you turn - The infection can be stopped prematurely, by cutting off the body part that was bit (see Hershell)
So my proposal here (although far fetched, gives explanations) is that if you are in a state of near death and you survive, the zombie infection cures itself. If everyone is actually infected, being close to death, should give people a really hard time to not turn. It could also explain why Hershell and Carl doesn't get the illness. Their bodies have some kind of resistance, so either they don't get sick at all, or the flu wouldn't hitting them so hard they're coughing up blood like the rest.
I really hope there will be more in season 4 about the infection, because for all we know now, is that if you die you turn and France was the only country to get near a cure.

The most unbelievable part of this episode is that the governor sleeps with the uglier of the two chicks. At least have a threesome. Any real human male in a real life situation would be lusting after the police academy chick. Secondly, the episode was ruined right from the beginning when the black dude shot the zombie and then the governor just goes to sleep in a shitty little tent. Where the fuck are all the other zombies that heard the gunshot?
|
Wasn't too much of a fan of this episode just because of how slow it started... it also seemed to jump around a lot, maybe I just didn't follow properly, but took a bit to figure out wtf was going on lol The zombie scenes were good though, I finally felt like they were a threat again. Not sure I'm looking forward to a gov only episode next again though, hopefully it's split

I really liked the idea of just showing the gov's story, and I like that they're going to continue doing this. It sure as hell is much better than "The group sits around in the prison and does stupid stuff" episode 13.
Though this episode sure had more than enough stupid or convenient plots, too. First and foremost, like always, the new group that has survived in the zombie apocalypse for months and months and months now.. and knows bugger all about zombies. Or surviving. Or anything at all. What did they do in all these months? Sit around and eat pasta?
Then there's the conveniently timely death of the old guy. The in-your-face chess analogy. The "don't just fucking stand there, pick her up and run already!" moment. It's all so cheesy.
Still liked it, though.
