Discussing the show and past episodes is fine. Do not put things that have happened in the TV series in spoilers. However, don't spoil things from the books that may happen in future episodes. Put book spoilers in spoiler tags with a CLEAR WARNING that it is from the book. |

hahahaa 5 star post sir! Ya best episode of the season, but now that all the unlikeable characters (Andrea, Lori) are out of the group they instantly gonna make Rick into a super asshole? I mean I wouldn't blame him, but I liked his character

				Heroes of the episode:
  T-dawg Carl
Is there anyway that they could have kept lori alive but let go of the baby? If so, then what Maggie did was stupid. Loris wishes dont matter lol...i would live with her hating me forever if that means having lori in the group over the baby.

This is the episode where they're probably on the cusp on putting together an exceptional 45 minutes of television. That said I think its the point at which I've come to realize even if this continues to improve I will be constantly disappointed that it is not the comics.
If the comics are dark, the TV show is a pale shade of gray in comparison. They're both eventually going to go down as great achievements in their medium, and they deserve to, but watching past this season will probably only result in continued disappointment from me that Kirkman and the producers didn't try to push the envelope as much as he did in the comics.
This is the last post I plan on even mentioning the comics. This episode is pretty much a clean break, the setting is the same, the names and appearance of a number of characters are the same, but there is only a shred of plot that still keeps these two stories connected. Doesn't mean the show is bad, its just now radically different, and comparing it with the comics is pointless imo.

I'd assume it was the other black guy (Andrew?) who was waiting for them in the generator room.

Honestly, sometimes I didn't so much feel the comics were pushing the envelope as trying too hard to shock me. There are so many moments in the comics that genuinely make me feel that way. So I guess I'm glad the producers didn't try to, "push the envelope" as much.

Am I a bad person cause I'm not shocked by any of the gore and stuff that happens in the comics/tv show? I always feel they could somehow get even darker.... >_> granted I've always thought stories got a lot deeper if they become darker because then character morals get challenged really hard.

So I guess I'm glad the producers didn't try to, "push the envelope" as much. I can definitely understand where you're coming from, I know you're not the only one that feels that way. Difference of opinions. I guess the thing that gets to me the most is they have pretty much avoided every major plot twist post-Carl getting shot by dumbass Otis (or mucked it up massively as with the Sophia/barn thing imo). As someone whose continued excitement after season 1 was pretty much predicated on my overwhelming satisfaction with the comic rather than the quality of the show up until that point it would be cool to see at least one or two elements of the plot from the comic carried over.
While I've enjoyed this season to a limited extent I've been basically stringing myself along waiting for one of these moments from the comic to come to life on screen. At this point it looks like that pretty much just isn't possible anymore. This is an issue that is keeping me personally from fully enjoying the show and I don't expect anyone else to feel this way nor will I argue with you if you don't.
I'm just resigning myself to completely giving up on any more of the comic getting mixed into the show, which I should have done a while ago tbh.

The gore doesn't shock and probably doesn't shock most people who have seen a lot of horror films. I'd bet that most people here on TL aren't really shocked with the gore. For the show to get darker they need to reveal even darker sides/developments in the characters. They'll probably get a lot darker over time but they appear to be taking it slow, and who can blame them when they have a hit show like this.

The Walking Dead stands out between those zombie movies/series/books because it's not goregoregore. There's actually some drama and emotion in it. So if you're looking for gore, it's not the comic/series you're looking for.

Nono, you're misunderstanding me. I've read all the comics as well. By "gore and stuff" i mean essentially all the dark things that happen, like carl easily just shooting shane and lori, or + Show Spoiler +the governor raping michome multiple times, followed by her later on mutilating him. I don't mean simply hack and slashing zombies. Stuff like the saw series are things I'm comfortable with cause of how deep the story is. (even though s lot of people can't get past the gore in saw)
Like I always feel that kind of stuff can get even darker than kirkman has done so far in the comics, where the characters begin resembling animals more than people. And i feel when it becomes THAT dark it only helps to make the story deeper by really challenging every moral fiber.

So many people celebrating Lori's death. I hated her too but shit... that was sad. Seriously, look at what you guys did. You begged AMC to kill her and we're paying for it. Maggie had to slice her open to save the baby after being pressured into doing so, Carl had to shoot her in the head before reanimation, and Rick will probably have serious psychological issues for the rest of the season. It's bad enough that this whole event could've been avoided if Rick made sure Andrew was dead.
