Discussing the show and past episodes is fine. Do not put things that have happened in the TV series in spoilers. However, don't spoil things from the books that may happen in future episodes. Put book spoilers in spoiler tags with a CLEAR WARNING that it is from the book. |

So I marathoned the first season and the first ep of season 2. I thought it started off great. As far as effects go it beats any zombie movie/series I know.
But the build up of corny or cliche things kept adding up. Then the ending of Season 1, lol? I pretty much laughed out loud when the doctor said "Why is this world dependent on fossil fuels?!" Other than that I thought the season was okayish.
Weak character development, you could see deathflags being raised a mile away. The only reason Im gonna catch up with this entire series is so I dont get left out when I go drinking with my friends again. Thats pretty much the only reason I decided to pick up on this series, because of the hype.
Overall the show impressed me, but not as good as I thought it would be.

Good episode, loved the ending. But why the hell did the writers have to kill T-Dawg?! Fuck that. Well, one black guy dies, one black guy joins the group, so I guess it's ok. (sarcasm)

So glad Lori is finally dead.... Feel bad for Carl though that some crazy ass shit to have to deal with. Can't wait to see Rick go bat shit insane for the next couple of episodes though. All in all a very good episode! Also who else can't wait for the inevitable reunion of the brothers? :D

+ Show Spoiler +I have a feeling Rick is going to be the one to go batshit insane and get locked up on the roof now and kill a horde of zombies with nothing but an axe and his bare hands like in the comics.

In more hilarious The Walking Dead tokenism, T-Dog dies to be replaced by another black guy.
To be fair though, the acting has never been better by Andrew Lincoln. He's usually quite bad but just doing emotion is good. That was good.

I actually felt emotion for T-Dog and Lori dying, as much as I hated Lori and knew T-Dog had no purpose in the show. I didn't want T-Dog to die but I knew Lori was going to according to the comics.
Really surprised and I'm overjoyed the show could convey the scenes that well.

Out of context her death in the comics seems pretty "meh," but that is pretty much the defining moment for Rick and Carl after probably 20 issues of the long Governor story arc. In contrast the TV show probably set up a more dynamic way for her to die as it is bound to have an even more profound effect on Carl, but it was a bit of an odd place to put such a major character's death. Rick seems devastated, which in turn is going to have huge ramifications among the group. It's going to be interesting to see how the writers galvanize what is left of this group before they encounter the Governor, because right now the old cliche line -"I eat pieces of shit like you for breakfast" would probably be proven true rather than the other way around. This group atm would get steamrolled by any hostile and organized outsider group.

Sigh. I was so excited when Lori died until the sneak peak of next week's episode included Hershel whining about how they need formula. It's like her baby was her last "fuck you" to the viewers. The writers need to do the right thing and kill this baby, quick.

Hahaha yeah I thought that was hilarious that that was the clip they decided to put in the preview.
Two episodes down the line: Rick - "God dammit Maggie why don't you just man up and act as our wet nurse!"
Three episodes: Glenn - "What the hell Rick, we need your help killing these walkers!" Rick - "Calm your jets, Snookie here just went number two all over her crib, I'll be out in a sec."

They can't make Lori act stupid anymore, so they get the baby to take her place as a plot device lol.
T-dog dead, immediately replaced by another black guy. So much for the writers saying they had big things planned for him.
All in all decent episode. Would have preferred if Rick didn't care so much about Lori dying though. I mean, last episode he could barely touch her, now he suddenly cares about her this much? His reaction to T-dog, a guy he got along with much better, was a moment of silence, and for Lori, the person he could barely stand to be near this whole time, he broke down and cried?

It kinda sucks whenever someone goes "soft" (or shows some humanity), they die the very same episode. First it was Dale and now T-Dog.
