Dave Lizewski, a comic-book fanboy, decides to take his obsession as inspiration to become a real-life superhero. As any good superhero would, he chooses a new name -- Kick-Ass -- assembles a suit and mask to wear, and gets to work fighting crime. There's only one problem standing in his way: Kick-Ass has absolutely no superpowers. His life is forever changed as he inspires a subculture of copy cats, is hunted by assorted violent and unpleasant characters, and meets up with a pair of crazed vigilantes, including an 11-year-old sword-wielding dynamo, Hit Girl and her father, Big Daddy.
Has anyone else seen this movie? I saw it last night and I thought it was AWESOME. I haven't read the comics, so I walked in not expecting much, and walked out satisfied. The movie is action packed with a mix of comedy and little romance. The ending leaves a potential sequel.
Ha, I went to see this with my girlfriend who was expecting a light hearted comedy; it really shocked me how violent this got, but I loved it. It was a just shame that she ended up not sleeping for a couple days

Well the MPAA is Rated R (R for strong brutal violence throughout, pervasive language, sexual content, nudity and some drug use - some involving children.) lol.
Man I thought this was a fantastic movie. One of the best i've seen this year. I haven't had a chance to read the comics or anything but I'm definitely picking up a few next time i'm by the local comic store.
I'm sure the comic series is getting more popular because of this movie. Oh, we all know what is going to be this year's most popular Halloween costume (definitely Hit-Girl's).
Violence? Not more than in your average tom-and-jerry cartoon. Of course its played by real actors, but it's definately in comic style. It was ok, but don't expect more than a nice pop-corn flick

I've been trying to organize a group outing to see this movie with my friends for a few weeks now. Thanks to this thread I have some proof that its good so maybe it will finally work out!
This is an awesome film. The actions scenes were completely over the top and therefore brilliant. It was pretty funny too. Empire gave it 5 stars though, wtf. And as is the trend in most films, the advert completely misrepresented the feel of the film and the type of comedy. The appeal of the comedy was that it was pretty broad.
In Britain this was given a 15 certificate which surprised me, the word cunt is used and the violence is completely excessive, lol. Like people getting their limbs sliced off and knives penetrating into people's chests and stuff.
