Seriously, there was no attempt to convey the psychological choices and moral hurdles that come with the idea of being a superhero. It was hinted at in a couple scenes, such as when the cop confronts Big Daddy at his headquarters. Point being, it was trying to be funny with completely unsuitable subject material. It just turns into an awkward mess of unnecessary murder and a ridiculously badly thrown together love comedy angle to boot. If it was trying to be a comedy, why tackle such heavy material? They ended up just glossing over the serious stuff in order to put the spotlight on the funny, and that just made it come off as an extremely EXTREMELY shallow movie.

I don't know if people know this but actually there are people in real life just like Kick Ass who dress in superhero outfits and walk around cities helping people. It doesnt matter if the script is brilliant, i personally wouldnt sit and watch this movie for $100 bucks let alone pay to. I find it to be extremely condescending and typical of this era of American entertainment. Its stuff like this that makes the movie "Idiocracy" seem more and more prophetic. But of course, this kind of opinion of the movie will be the extreme minority, and it will make a ton of money. Just like American Idol and the Backstreet Boys. Or Nickelback. I think this is wrong. The reason I liked this movie was because it was so unique. Its the complete opposite of most superhero movies. Its very unique kind of in a similar style to Kill Bill. Also anyone who doesn't like the fact that all the movies nowadays the main guy gets the girl, maybe they would like the comic better, I heard that in the comic book, she gets mad angry at kick ass after he confesses to her and gets her real boyfriend to beat him up.

Come on if you're gonna be critical about the movie then at least point out the jetpack with the 2 miniguns on the shoulder (which was hilarious btw). If you can't enjoy this movie you're probably a very bitter person. Movie was awesome and hilarious at times.

I didn't find most of the jokes that funny, but the fight scenes were very well done (fake night vision notwithstanding). The idea of seeing how "superheroes" would fare in real life was pretty interesting. Unfortunately, they kinda abandoned this concept near the end of the movie to put in more action. Overall, I guess it was enjoyable enough, but I don't think I would watch it again.

That being said, I enjoyed Kick-Ass primarily because of the emulation of the comic book story. They did change quite a bit, but the creators of the comic and the movie are the same I believe. The story does a great job of balancing comedy and ridiculous action scenes. I'd probably watch it again if it were at someone's house or something, but I would definitely read it all over again.

my silly female flat mates were just completely shocked and angry about how brutal this movie was. I didnt expect it to be this dark either but the movie truely does its title justice, I'm someone who is generally very rarely impressed by action scenes of any sort, the ones in this movie however were awesome, my god hit girl is badass ![]() I hope the sequel which I'm sure is gonna come out eventually is gonna do this one justice. should be hard though.

Had this movie been as brutal as it should have been, Kick ass would have had tons of repetitive oh shit, stabbed, near death, hospital moments and i feel with Red Mist as he picks up his fathers legacy. It isnt easy being the villain. Really hope he makes it work rather than simply become another comic book villain.

Also in the comic, after the final showdown it-girl breaks down in tears and yells "Daddy!!". She's crestfallen. She reacts like a normal, vulnerable little girl and throws her arms around kickass for comfort. I give the movie a 6. ETA: I JUST remembered the ending. A JETPACK bro? A FUCKING JET PACK?
