Kaka was at his most impressive on the Cty Ehome edition with Lanm drafting and calling at least some shots. It has to be incredibly difficult to captain (do we know who exactly calls what shots on Nb?) while playing the mechanically challenging heroes he plays.

I think what valve wants with their choice of casters and commentators over the past year or so is that they want to try out everything that can work. Purge is kind of ubiquitous in the dota scene, which is neat, but that makes a problem for valve because if something happens to purge they struggle to find a replacement.
valve definitely wants a deep roster of talent for casting and commentary and they probably wouldn't mind breaking down peoples' preferences as well
