I'm just curious why there seems to be no new talent breaking out, which was mentioned in some interview. At least I was under the impression that playing for a chinese team pays off financially. on western teams veteran players play alongside younger players to teach them and mentor them on chinese teams veteran players tell younger players to fuck off and make their own teams or something like that

They're not playing super gimmicky drafts, and they're beating top teams (EHOME, Secret, LGD). They're playing the correct style for the current game. Those teams are not. That said, I'm pretty sure they practiced harder for this tournament than any past tournament, as the improvement is obvious and the fact that they're all at the top of the Chinese server shows that they've been putting in time.

My bro in law from China mentioned that in China if you go pro gaming, LoL attracts far more talents than dota (financial wise) ... as to why they also suck in LoL i have no idea... dota in china from my understanding is an old boys club... the top teams rarely promotes or find new kids to mentor... now that the old boys are getting old... losing form or retiring or streaming... the problem is apparent. I guess when you have only a few tournaments and all the domestic ones are shit shows, you want someone you've played before and delivered and not some 16 year olds that might have to go finish school etc... (maybe had to stay in LGD B team for a while due to school commitments )

That's why I'm still not sold on mvp, I have yet to see them play a game on even terms.

To answer your first question: no one on this site has insider knowledge, but from what we heard from pro players and interviews, chinese players are not really motivated and havent been practicing as much as western teams. With regards to your second question: the main reason is cause league is a lot more popular in china
