A few USA chants are fine but please don't do it too much.

Stop the stupid USA arguments, thanks.

On another note, CDEC flairs are now live. Sorry about the delay on that.

Though I am actually excited that Sumail may start growing a Pakistan scene. More places playing DotA on a competitive scale would be pretty cool.

Sure, sure, but you fail to see the big idea, which is West > China this year. Doesn't matter how much I go from team to team; that's the idea I'm going for.

Gamers seem to have a really hard time dealing with variance and luck. Perhaps it's a desire to be taken seriously but there always seems to be a belief that the best players or teams must be afforded the best possible chance of making the finals.

actually it's a relic from when LAN's were a common thing between people having fun

losing once and going home is a bummer weekend, double elim is more popular because even if you aren't going to win you get to play more games.

I mean, you are actually grasping for straws. EG will likely win, but West as a whole lost in grander picture, especially compared to Ti3.

No, because there hasn't been any RR that made it to the TI finals.

Orange was the closest, but Orange was an invite team. They started their journey deep in the Lower Bracket.

I mean, royal roader in Dota 2 is iffy because if we count teams, then we have to count someone with 3 prior TI appearances as someone walking the royal road.

As for first-TI-appearance 5 players, there were none in finals before except TI1.

I don't think PPD has ever lost finals to any team other than Secret.

CDEC has never won a finals.

This is a win for America, and another loss for China in the year of loss.

PPD lost finals to Empire, to VG, to iG. So get your facts straight, West fanfriend.

They did lose to Empire, but that's another Western team. I don't think PPD has lost this year to a Chinese team in the finals.

they've only played one tournament this year where they faced a chinese team in the finals

What's important is that CDEC has been in the finals a lot in China, but never won.

EG is not a "Chinese team".

We don't know whether CDEC finals choking abilities extend to any finals they are in tho. That's why i am almost sad because EG will win it and Azarkon won't shut up despite this tournament being complete failure for West.

Him proclaiming Western superiority would almost be funnier though.

It's funny because it wouldn't even be wrong.

China hasn't won a tournament in months, despite there being lots of tournaments in the last few months.

Them not winning again... I don't know about you, but it doesn't make me think China > West, indeed not even China = West.

Sure, they have a lot of top finish. But a win is a win. You don't get to be the best with second, else C9 is the best team in the world.

To which end, I think that were China to lose again, I'm all for West > China.

Who cares about who wins tournaments. Check West vs China record this tournament (main stage in particular). We compare scenes, not teams, ya forgot?

They won a lot of other Western teams in those tournaments they lost, too. As long as one Western team pulls through, what does it matter? The result is still: China hasn't won a tournament in months.

Double elimination exists because there is no consistency in team seeding and prize pool.

If DotA had a proper team ranking system and a prize pool spread across every tournament in the year, the single elim would be fine. It's a fucking horrible idea when seeding is entirely dependent on luck and tournaments can eclipse the total sum of everything else in a year.

Take this tournament for example. Top 6 teams, 5 were in Group B.
Average means I'm better than half of you.

There were only two Western teams above top Chinese teams in 2013. Did that stop people from saying West > China?

What's a royal roader in dota anyhow?
A team that wins ti with a complete set of 5 people who has never played in a ti before?
A player who wins ti on his first time, regardless of team shuffles?
A team who wins ti on their first try (organization)?
