I would assume that eventually Dota2 would would put out the patches first and dota would follow. The main developer of both Dota and Dota 2 is IceFrog, and he says his plan is to keep updating both as long as people are interested in them. Maybe eventually Dota 2 patches will come first, I assume he will keep his focus on the newer version, but right now they must be working much harder on porting heroes/fixing bugs/improving the engine, so it could be faster to implement the changes in Dota 1.

That's like completelly irrelevent to his question. Currently everyone refers to IceFrog's version as simply Dota and almost noone plays any other version, there is no need to nitpick at the name. If he asks why both versions are updated the same way it's obvious he means the current, IceFrog developed, version. Unless you mean he has nothing to do with the current version, which makes even less sense?

(not by checking aura or whatever) I seem to remember there was an animation trick in dota attack speed of the 2nd attack. first attack > cooldown > real hero second attack > image second attack. crits. damage real hero and images using aoe.

Also if you have any sort of aoe you can use that, since copies take extra damage. Only the real one can use spells as well.

I feel like I have to get lucky checking the "Where to Watch Live Dota" thread. There is no central point for tournaments like honcast, right? Is there a twitter account I could follow? The official one by valve doesn't really tweet anything about the competetive scene. Any tips are appreciated. =) Gosugamers is pretty good. http://gosugamers.net/dota2 Just scroll down a little and you'll see the Gosubet section. Like Liquibet, it shows matches currently happening or happening in the future. Click a matchup and the list of available streams should be listed. Also the main page usually has announcements, streams and live coverage of other events. http://www.dotacommentaries.com/ Dota Commentaries has a tournament going on now. The Premiere League. Links could be found on their website and on Gosugamers. Also has good commentary by Luminous.

In 1993 Richard Garfield made Magic: the Gathering. From 2000-2012 Mark Rosewater has been the head of development of Magic the Gathering, and though Garfield made the game's basic rules, Rosewater made the game what it is today. Icefrog has everything to do with DotA. He didn't create the basic rules, the map, etc, but he has BEEN DotA for the last several years. The poster didn't call him the inventor. He called him the developer. And IceFrog IS the current developer of DotA. Claiming otherwise is pretty ignorant of several years of history, the years that have seen DotA rise to be a major eSport in China and Eastern Europe. As for DotA content coverage, as was mentioned GosuGamers and JoinDota are both fairly good bets. The two big tournaments going on right now are The Defense and The Premier League, going on at JoinDota.com and DotaCommentaries.com respectively.

With a ranged hero who has lifesteal, you used to be able to see the lifesteal disk only when you were attacking the real one. When you attacked a copy, it shows your no-lifesteal attack projectile. Can anyone confirm if this is true in Dota 2 too (i.e. no lifesteal green stuff around your hero when you are attacking illusions)?

(my hero is sitting in the fountain beside the shop) -_- pissing me off that my items go directly to stash when i have free slots in my inventory They go to the last unit that you had selected when you clicked the item in the shop. If you had the courier selected when you go to buy items, it'll try to buy them to the courier.

All you do is Cast it without clicking anywhere and it ports you to the pool. ie my top right item hotkey is alt+e so if my TP is in that position i press ale + e then alt + e

If u have your items bound to a key, then double tap the key. For me it is "4" so i just tap "4" twice.

In fact it works for many items. Some examples are double tap consumable = cast on self double tap dagger = blink towards base double tap force staff = cast on self etc
